gingersmiith:
They were watching.
Aideen shrank back, wondering if she should run back to Da and the forge–
But then the girl stood and called out to her, and it would be rude to run away now that she’d been seen. She tried a smile that felt shaky on her face, took a deep breath, and signed.
‘Hello.’
Faye’s face split into a wide grin at the sign, and she immediately returned it, hands moving a mile a minute--
“Faye,” Asher joined his sister, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Slow down.” It wasn’t clear whether the boy had seen something in Aideen alerting him to the fact that she was still learning, or if he simply was trying to teach his sister good manners. Either way, Fay didn’t seem off-put. She moved her hands slower as she signed:
‘Hello. My name is Faye. These,’ she made a circular motion with an outstretched finger, ’Are my brothers, Asher. And Miles.’
