“I have my reasons, and I’m quite sure he doesn’t like me either.”
“I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it, Aurora.”
“He’s never said anything much about it, but then again. We don’t talk much.” She said, looking down with a small shrug.
“Well, thank you, Professor.”
He was never really levelheaded when he drank. He never was that levelheaded to begin with. He just wasn’t good at communicating at the end of the day. So much in his life had caused that. Then she was taking the drink and he took it back when she offered it and took another drink. “I’m usually not such a damn mess.”
“Yes, you are.” She said, giving him a look, trying to hide that her throat was still burning. “You’re just generally better at hiding it.”
“Yes… yes it is.” Sirius held his hand out for it.
Aurora smiled, dropping it into his hand. “How’d you manage to lose that?”
Yes, it is actually. Thank you, Aurora. I was looking everywhere for it. Where did you find it, may I ask?
“It was under the table. I lost mine too.”

“Keep telling yourself that.”
“I really don’t see why you can’t just leave me alone.”
“That’s a pity. I was rather hoping you had been flirting with me,” she said with a soft sigh, turning away from the sink and the girl. The stammer, oh that could be cute, but Alecto found in it more of something to break rather than something to cherish. Aurora had this air about her Alecto could get behind destroying, but it wouldn’t be obvious; it’d be subtle, it’d be careful, it’d be the slow corruption that no one noticed until it was too late. She ran a hand through her hair, knowing she ought to turn her thoughts elsewhere. The girl handed her the skirt and Alecto grinned, inspecting it for a moment. “It’s once more flawless. Just like you.”
Aurora wasn’t at all used to hearing someone say things like that. She wasn’t noticed all that often, and when she was, it wasn’t by someone like Alecto Carrow, who was undeniably stunning. However, she was also the exact kind of person that Aurora shouldn’t be getting involved with, heaven knows. No matter how pretty her eyes, or legs were. But never the less, suddenly she too wished she’d been flirting with Alecto. “I really don’t know about flawless, I think that’s more up your alley.” She murmured, turning to wash her hands, cheeks flaming.
Rodolphus had found himself a corner to take up space and had been drinking for quite some time. “Approach with caution. I am very drunk, so no lectures and if you’re appealing enough, I may share a little.”
“I’m not that invested in appealing to you, Rodolphus.”
“This what you’re looking for?”
He sighed. He was being quite difficult and he knew it. But that’s what he tended to do, when he let anyone in remotely. It was his defense mechanism and always had been. “Then do so. Don’t let morons try to convince you otherwise.” He took another drink. “Just don’t turn your back. You’ll wind up dead.”
She was ready to punch him if her went back and forth one more bloody time. Marcus’ mood was making her feel horribly off balance. He was driving her mad, and for some reason she wanted nothing more than for him to let her in. But that wouldn’t happen, so if he couldn’t share his thoughts, he could at least share a bloody drink. She reached out, snatching the bottle out of the older man’s grip and lifting it to her lips and letting it fill her mouth. The stuff burned, but the witch refused to let herself cough or even wince as she swallowed it down, and handed the bottle back to Marcus.

“Mr Mckinnon? Hmm, I’m not sure that’s wise, Miss Sinistra. I don’t trust our Mr Mckinnon. But I’m glad you enjoy astronomy. You’re very gifted at it, you know.”
“You don’t trust Mr McKinnon? Why? He’s just helping me with the class.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t say I was gifted, but thank you, Professor.”
Alecto kept back the crude comments she’d make in regards to the off-hand innuendos Aurora kept making. It was unbecoming of a pureblood like her to make them, though she really hardly cared. What kept her silent was the girl and her reactions. Alecto wandered up to the sink, leaning against Aurora as she watched her clean the skirt of ink. “Where is the confidence? Hardly much to do without it, especially when you flirt so inadvertantly,” Alecto drew out the last word into multiple syllables, grinning.
Aurora had a habit of embarrassing herself, Rowena knows, but she didn’t think her cheeks has ever felt so hot. Alecto wasn’t the sort of person she liked, she knew all too well that if there was anyone who was going to be a Death Eater, it was Alecto Carrow, if she wasn’t already, but that didn’t stop Aurora’s heart from hammaring in her chest. She shouldn’t react like this, but Alecto was beautiful, and charming, not that Aurora fancied girls of course, especially ones like Alecto who would never really spare her a second look. “I- I didn’t mean to flirt, I guess. But that is the definition of inadvertently.” Looking down at the skirt as she scrubbed the last of the ink out Aurora continued. “Confidence isn’t really my thing.” She pulled the garment out from the water and held it up, examining it for a moment before murmuring a charm to dry it. “Here you go.”
"You are validating my inherent mistrust in people."
He gave her a look. He tended to not know what to say. When he was this drunk, he overthought things, even more than usual and he wasn’t good at letting anyone too close to him. “You just need to stay out of harm’ way.”
Aurora felt like screaming bloody murder, or at the very least taking his bottle and having a long sip of it. Staring at the fair haired man she pressed her lips together. “No, actually, I don’t. I need to make a damn difference.”

“Not wrong precisely, I just wanted a chat. Tell me how’re your studies going? Still enjoying Astronomy I hope.”
“All quite well. I wasn’t in the best position in Defense Against the Dark Arts for a time, but Mr. McKinnon has been helping me. And of course, Astronomy is still one of my favorite courses.”
Alecto smirked. The flush suited the girl and made Alecto feel triumphant. Girls got so funny when they were flirted with, even if only in passing by someone like Alecto. “I’d say we could go out for dinner, but I’d rather pack light and find a secluded spot,” she taunted, folding her arms over her stomach. Being without a skirt should feel more vulnerable, but Alecto hardly cared. “A fool? What’s got someone like you a fool these days, Aurora?”
Aurora hadn’t meant to flirt, she wasn’t really one to flirt at all. She’d hardly kissed a bloke, let alone another girl, especially one as beautiful and intimidating as Alecto, one so involved with the dark arts. “I suppose eating is over rated.” She murmured, trying to focus on getting the skirt clean. Most of the ink was out, but she continued to scrub at the last bit. “Oh, plenty of things. More often than not I’m not so bright.”
