I thought a post about my bullet journal system would be a great way to start off my new studyblr! I have found this system, and it is miraculous, for me. I am usually the resident slacker, late work and such, because I simply could not sit down and work without immense time pressure (not because I didnât want to, or because I didnât try, I cannot make clear enough.). This hybrid bujo has really alleviated a lot of my anxiety, and helped me handle my inattentive-type ADD.
⢠The KEY, or legend, is the first thing (even though itâs a few pages in) find one that works for you, it might not be the standard one! I really like this one I made, because it makes it very easy to spot unfinished tasks - each bullet ends as complete, migrated, or cancelled, no matter how it started (I assume I will never migrate an email.), so itâs very clear what is no longer an open task or event; more on this later. The tapes are easily removable if I mess a title up, and they keep the journal consistent, which I really like.
⢠The INDEX is the first page, with the following page numbered â1â . Mine has two columns, and the second will have itâs numbers running down the other side of the tape. This helps when the journal gets full.
⢠The ANNUAL CALENDAR is the first spread. It is helpful for keeping track of events that are more than a month away, and birthdays, but what I like most is the way it visualises how close fun events are (Iâm seeing my best friend, for the first time in more than a year, in only 21 days!)! I like the decorative day counter (the triangles, by the way), and use two highlighters: one for holidays, one for deadlines.
⢠The MONTHLY CALENDAR is vertical, by the way. I only needed it for exactly 4 weeks and it fit so nicely. This is a good way to record deadlines and events in the near future, which later become parts of weekly spreads, and see clearly how the month looks. I highlight the number of each day when the day starts, rather than crossing it out, as I feel this is a cleaner way of tracking the date. Use the annual calendar to check for events that month, at the start of the month.
⢠The WEEKLY-DAILY SPREAD AND TIMETABLE page is where the magic happens, so have them on the same spread, ideally.
⢠At the beginning of the week, find and transfer all the necessary bullets. This page is the WEEKLY SPREAD. These come from the monthly spread, and from the previous week: when checking the previous week for tasks, every incomplete task should be migrated (assign migration symbol, copy task as dot), cancelled (strike through, or own symbol), or completed (ticked, etc.). Throughout the week, new bullets should all be written as dots initially, under their own day, until time can be taken to assess them (that might be straight away, the system comes up soon)
⢠Also create a TIMETABLE, this is the key (for me, anyway.). I chose 20 minute intervals, as I feel that is the shortest amount of useful time for a task (shorter tasks can be done âinstantlyâ whenever time is available):Â
Block out when time is taken and you cannot work, thatâs not just lectures and meetings, thatâs meals and self care! And if you find there is more time than what you imagine will be needed for tasks, I think isolating times where you wonât work is important - on full on days, particularly, for your mental health. This doesnât mean you work less, just that you donât work at those times. It is a good idea to overestimate how long busy blocks are, so you donât risk rushing or missing task blocks (as often). Donât have the timetable run through all your waking hours, but through your working hours - donât risk the temptation of plastering work over when you should be getting ready to work. I have a box at the top of each day that has exact times for events, as I feel that rounding to 20 minutes is appropriate.
⢠Now you are ready for the week! The following system is much simpler and faster than it may appear, and wonât have you wasting hours planning work you no longer have time to do, I promise. When you have a spare five minutes, look at your bullets:
     ⢠if a bullet is a dot, assess it (all others do not require checking):
Is it a task you can do immediately? If so, leave it as a dot, move on.
Is it an email, an event, or a note? If so, mark it as such; mark events in your monthly calendar, and in the daily timetable as busy. (in the daily, I would recommend, if need be, rounding it to the interval you use that takes more time - start earlier, finish later - and include getting ready and transport, as you cannot work in these times.)
If it fits neither of these circumstances, it must be a task that takes more than 15 minutes (unless Iâve made a mistake!). If it takes** less than an hour**, schedule it and mark it scheduled, and move on (Always overestimate how long tasks take - this prevents running out of time, and if you finish early, thatâs free time!). If it takes more than an hour, break it until you have tasks that take less than an hour, and cross the original off. Do this because tasks that take longer than an hour are harder to focus on, harder to find time for, and easier to misjudge. Then each task can be assessed by this same system. (I broke this rule above, but I will take a break to make up for it!)
Repeat for each dot, until none are left
     ⢠Any that are still dots will be immediate tasks, and you can do them now. Start with the time sensitive ones. If you donât manage them all, they can probably stay dots until next time, but schedule or cancel them if you want.
     ⢠If there are no dots, you are free (until your next scheduled task or event). Do whatever you want! Any tasks left are scheduled, and the time to do them is not now! Actual free time, guilt free.
After a quick setup (it doesnât have to look pretty or cool), do tasks when they are scheduled, put bullets in when you get them, and plan for 3 minutes a few times (or even once) a day! Thatâs it, and you can get everything done and have guilt free spare time.

The 'No Excuses' Study System to Get That A
I Â School DaysÂ
1. Show up to class a little early. Itâll give you time to set up, read over some old notes, put your water bottle/thermos on your desk, fill out your planner if you couldnât in the previous period(s), check your planner to see if you have something on that day etc.
2. Sit in the front or second row. Iâm serious, you will definitely benefit. Write detailed class notes. Pick whatever system works for you. I usually write my titles in red pen, notes in black pen, underline points that are repeated/emphasised, highlight keywords at home
3. If you have time at school, do as much homework as you can. If you know you have commitments that day, please for the love of your education do your homework at lunch. I know you might feel awkward, but your friends will understand.Â
4. When you get home, first list down all the homework received that day on a q card (cross off as you go). Then write the same tasks in your bullet journal, but as a daily spread. Use stayfocusd or self control for mac + leave phone in a different room. FINISH ALL OF YOUR HOMEWORK. If for some reason you couldnât complete a homework task, write it on a sticky note and place it on your wall. After homework is done, write your revision notes (flashcard the info as well). Place the notes in your accordion folder/binder. If you have some loose sheets at any point, place them in a âTo Be Filedâ box. Sort that out when youâre packing your bag for the next day.
5. Go through the flashcards made that day and the flashcards made on the previous days. List out all assignments/assessments on another q card with their due dates. This will come in handy later.
6. Pack your bag the night before. Remember your accordion folder + make sure your âTo Be Filedâ box is empty. Put water bottle in the fridge and make meals for the next day.
7. The next day, wake up early, complete any unfinished homework, go through flashcards again, read through revision notes, make lunch for the day, put laptop in bag, put food + water in bag, exercise (esp if you have commitments after school), shower, change, blah blah blah. Only do this if your schedule is packed, and in my case, this is a must.
II Â Weekends
1. On Friday nights, first off, do homework. You will thank yourself for it. Whip out that list of assessments/assignments and allocate half days to knock off at least two of these little assholes. Work ahead, you will feel much better.
2. Do your readings. For English, knock off some wider reading novels, for HSIE, knock off some textbook unit readings (two units ahead), for science, knock off some more textbook readings. Write summaries of each page. Type these summaries. Print these summaries. Place in accordion folder/binder. Flashcard the info. Spend like half a day doing this lmao.
3. Spend 1-2 hours going through the flashcards you made that week for each subject. This counts as studying my friend.Â
III Weekends When You Actually Have AssessmentsÂ
1. Due to your working ahead, homework completion and readings, you shouldnât be panicking too much. Get those revision notes and slot in the textbook readings notes. Highlight, annotate, read aloud, go through flashcards and get someone to test you on the content. Make sure you know all terms, formulae, key concepts, vocabulary etc etc
2. As for assignments, again due to your working ahead just print them out and heavily edit those little asshats. Then type the edits into the doc. Repeat this process four times. Then get someone to read it. Make sure all your assignments are on your USB + email them to yourself because you never fucking know tbh.Â
3. Youâll probs have to sacrifice your reading time but thatâs chill because the teacher/prof will probably be focusing on prepping you for the actual assessment + you gotta do what you gotta do.
SUMMARY
Seriously, just do your homework the day you receive it, write revision notes, do your readings, write notes on those readings, make flashcards, knock out assignments as soon as you know they actually exist, read every wider reading novel (analyse these novels), read your required readings (analyse this too), go over flashcards every morning/afternoon, make use of spare time in class, do homework at lunch if needed, stick to your schedule, buy coffee/hot chocolate in the mornings and put it in a thermos, keep a necessities pouch in your bag, keep your P.E shoes in your locker, use a planner, track your spending, wash your hair, brush your hair, go to commitments, attend school events, attend events youâre invited to, go shopping, watch movies, be kind to yourself, take bubble baths, light candles, listen to music, SLEEP, get that A and most importantly be proud of yourself.Â

24th April // Day 22/100
My desk explains my current situation right now. (My desk is messier than my life) 5 more days to Mid-Years and about almost less than a month to my first O level paper (MTL) oh god. The mad rush is jUST .-. Am I prepared for MYE? NOPE! & that explains why I am inactive and havent been updating = I was busy procrastinating + doing last minute revision! đ Anyways; I will be active in June bc Iâll do all of my notes in preparation for both Prelims & Oâs! For MYE, Iâm focusing more on practising rather than making pretty and organized notes bc mama aint got much time left hun :c SO BASICALLY IM JUST GONNA WING IT LOL (i rlly hope i can kick this bad habit of procrastinating ASAP) :(
Friday, February 26.    Yesterday was math day. đđ I always dedicate all thursdays to math, since I struggle with this subject a lot. I try to include it in some of the other days of the week so I keep practicing. Also, I found some time to review some previous biology notes yesterday. đđ
