I would like to correct what you said about transmeds. Transmeds (at least from what Ive seen) dont want to dictate peoples experience being trans they just want to make sure being trans is still medicalized so we can afford surgeries and have insurance cover it. Ive never seen a transmed tell someone they arent trans. I'm not trying to dictate someones experience being trans on this account I just want to spread ace/aro positivity because I too am ace/aro.
All I have to go on is the person calling themselves truscum*, which means (among other things) they think you have to have dysphoria to be trans, and transmed, which, according to the definition I found online, is again, someone who believes you have to have dysphoria to be trans, basically saying if you donāt have it, you arenāt trans. That is trying to dictate someoneās experience in how they are trans. Like, Iāve never interacted with a transmed on this topic to my knowledge to get an explanation for why they call themselves that, just, like I said, going off the definition online. All the articles I can find about what transmed/truscum means is that you have to fit a certain definition of trans: limited to āthose who experience body dysphoria, desire a ābinaryā medical transition, and are pursuing hormones and surgery.āAnd if you donāt believe that, and are in fact mistakenly using the term, this is a moot point. But the fact is someone calling themselves a transmed is, either mistakenly or on purpose, expressing those exact ideals.I am personally bigender and trans - Iām male & nonbinary. Therefore, according to the definition offered here, Iām not trans enough. Maybe individual people think only part of whatās included in the definition, but that is still attempting to dictate how someone experiences being trans. But that doesnāt change the fact that someone calling themselves that makes me uncomfortable, on a blog I run, and Iām not going to expose myself or my followers to that. To be honest, I should have taken a screenshot of the original ask and blocked the person on anon, which is what I will be doing from now on. Learning experience. If the transmeds youāve interacted with havenāt expressed any of these ideals, then one of two things is true: 1) they are claiming the term in error or 2) they are like terfs, who can sound like completely reasonable people with some of their ideas, until you realize that they mean āonly certain x type of people are includedā.*They include that in their explanation which is why Iām including it. Still extremely confused about the ask.
