I find it really frustrating sometimes that you can speculate about a long-dead personâs sexuality like, âMaybe they were gayâ or âMaybe they were biâ and people will be like âHuh yeah I guess they couldâve beenâ but the second you say âMaybe they were aceâ theyâre like
hoW D A R EYOU
HE JUST!!!! HAD HIGH STANDARDS!!!!!!Â
This New Yorker article calls T.S. Eliotâs sex life âa sad and desolate place.â The author declares, âEliot wasâŚalmost certainly a frustrated virginâ when he married his first wife (who he proceeded to sleep a room away from, by the way). The same article explains that Eliot was âin love withâ his next partnerâŚand never had sex with her. He was also never sexual with his THIRD partner. The article concludes that T.S. Elliot was SURELY not sex-averse (GOOD HEAVENS NO!) but rather wrote sex as bad because âFor Eliot, bad sex was the symptom of a failure of civilization, and it is a fallacy to conclude that, because sex in his poems is disgusting, Eliot was disgusted by sex.â
Thatâs genuinely how people talk about T.S. Eliot. We all make fun of articles that say things like, âThis female author divorced her husband and lived with her CLOSE FEMALE FRIEND for the rest of her life.â But for some reason when I say, âAs a sex-repulsed asexual person I relate to a lot of T.S. Eliotâs poetry because so many of his works are caught between an almost hopeless desire for affection and a terrified disgust for sex,â thatâs considered UNINTELLECTUAL. Obviously Iâm grossly misinterpreting the TRUE BRILLIANCE of T.S. Eliotâs poetry. When I look up T.S. Eliotâs love life and say, âMaybe T.S. Eliot was like me,â thatâs shoved away with âNO! HE COULDNâT POSSIBLY BE LIKE YOU! HE WAS JUST P I C K Y!!!âÂ
JustâŚwould people PLEASE stop rushing to dead peopleâs âdefenseâ just because I âaccusedâ them of DARING to POSSIBLY be asexual????
Three Essays by Black Asexual Women
âRomance Is Not the Only Type of Black Love that Mattersâ by Sherronda J. Brown
âThe bonds that Black womxn share amongst ourselves are unlike any other. It is with Black womxn that I am able to be completely and unapologetically myself. It is with Black womxn that I have been able to foster a sisterhood, kinship, and camaraderie that fulfills me and will never let me be alone.â
âAs a Black Woman, Celebrating Pride This Year Has Been Hardâ by Yasmin Benoit
âNow is the time to remember that queer culture wouldnât exist without Black culture and Stonewall wouldnât have happened without Black trans women. Even if none of that were true, it wouldnât make our struggle any less significant to the LGBTQ+ community. All Black Lives Matter, no ifs, no buts, no justification. That includes Black trans lives, Black gay lives, Black bisexual lives, Black asexual lives, Black non-binary lives. Thatâs what Iâm going to make some noise about, and you should too.â
âThe Hardships of Being an Asexual Woman of Colorâ by Kimberly Steele
âI feel like growing up as a black cis female, I wasnât given many choices with any kind of way to have a healthy relationship with sexuality. Itâs almost like everyone, no matter what race they were or what religion they followed, was raised to view sex and sexual situations the same. That method didnât work for a great number of people of color, and I feel like my relationship with sex (well, lack of a relationship to it) is part of that.â

Happy Pride, hereâs an important article for us to read, talk about, and work on.
Warnings for discussion of sexual/reproductive violence, antiblack racism, and fetishization.
âBlack asexuals deserve to have more visibility and clarity, and Black people deserve to embrace our sexualities outside of the confines of prescribed hypersexualization.â

YALL. Gabriel picolo, major dc artist and a latino man, came out as ace on twitter. This is HUGE for the latinx ace community. Not being straight makes you 'less of a man' in many latinx cultures. Not being into women, not being into any gender, not having 'adequate' sexual desires (that need to be restrained til marriage if poss, but absolutely MUST be there) makes you a huge outcast, and being ace fulfills all 3. I hope many other latinxs see this and feel less alone
My partner showed me this tweet because Iâm not on twitter anymore and the comments were had stuff like other aces saying stuff like âI meet you in person and you complicated my ace ringâ and stuff like that. So itâs excited to see that he felt comfortable being even more public than he had been before. And look at this freaking gift to our eye balls??

Some LGBTQ+ Muslims for pride !! Yâall are very valid and I hope you have a good pride month !
If anything Iâve done is offensive or you want a flag thatâs not here, feel free to message me or send an ask !
Please DNI if you are: nsfw, truscum/transmed, exclusionist, anti mogai, anti anti, etc etc
Scalding hot take apparently: if a demographic says âI donât feel safe in the cisgendered heterosexual society, I need space in the LGBT communityâ and you say âIâm sorry, youâre not oppressed enough, get outâ youâre a fucking asshole.
What this post is about;
Ace/aro people getting called âcishetâ
Bisexuals getting called âstraight passingâ
Straight trans people getting told theyâre not oppressed
What this post is not about;
Pedophiles

So apparently being sexually attracted to people is like?? A real thing??
That's wild man
Imagine wanting to have sex with someone
I donât have to imagine because I fucked your mom last night
Ik this is just a stupid joke reply and might not be that deep(tm) but also this is.... such a weird, annoying and unwarranted reaction to someone probably just venting ON THEIR OWN BLOG about about how they dont understand the concept of sexual attraction like OP isnt even shaming anyone for feeling sexual attraction???
Like yall really need to understand that not all posts are meant to be "made fun of" and put into your cringe compilation or whatever lol people are allowed to post random thoughts and things on their blogs without becoming the subject of intense mockery. I dont think youd like it very much if some rando reblogged any of your vent posts with the intention to make you look cringey. Please behave like decent fucking human beings lol this isnt even mostly about ace discourse its about yall thinking yall can talk to strangers on here in weird ways and then think THEY are cringey for telling you to stop behaving like a freak lol.
support aces of colour who are struggling to reclaim their sexuality while being actively fetishized, hypersexualized, and/or desexualized based on their race and intersections of neuro-atypicality, physical disability, etc.
iâm op of this post (iâve since changed my url) and the amount of bloggers who have reblogged this and tagged it with some variation of âthank youâ shows you how important it is to recognize people of colour who are on the ace spectrum
