Bonsoir les amis Merci à tous ceux qui sont venus vendredi dernier assister à notre spectacle à l'Auguste Théâtre. L'équipe de production (Yuhan, Matt, Pasindu, Henrik) était au top, la technique sous les mains de Thomas parfaitement délivrée. David et Marion nous ont donné un concert d'une grande finesse avec une maitrise parfaite du programme (pourtant si ambitieux, Bach, Beethoven, Massenet, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Saintsaens, Granados, Sibelius, Bloch, Bill Evans, Piazzola)...... sur mes créations en toiles de fonds. La salle était comble et l'ambiance très chaleureuse (au sens propre et figuré). Bref, j'espère que nous aurons réussi à vous transmettre un peu de magie et de poésie ce soir-là. Encore merci à tous. « Ramón, the garden keeper » Sketches of Spain, pencil on paper, 14.8x21 cm I was watching the garden keeper responsible for the upkeep of a large, private garden near the centre of Salou town in Spain. But as a couple of weeks passed by, one thing was bothering me. The garden keeper couldn't stop cutting grass. It inspired me to this plot and I decided to call the garden keeper Ramon ,and to draw him, my way. In his sleepless nights, Ramón sees visions of the garden so green and perfect, the grass cut to perfection by his hands. He can't stop imagining how great it would be if he was already at work. Every Sunday morning, when everyone else is still sleeping, Ramón starts cutting grass. This drawing is about perfectionism, first as a good thing and as it can help us to achieve success. Yet, it can also prevent us from taking risks and make us feel guilty of not doing enough. Ultimately, Ramon lives fearing failure, and that fear prevents him from trying new things. « Meditation de Thaïs » - Inspirations, tableau 1 The “Meditation”, from the opera “Thaïs” is a gorgeous and flowing aside from the masterwork by Jules Massenet. Composed in 1892, it debuted with the opera in 1894. It comes after a scene in the show where a monk attempts to convince Thaïs, a hedonistic woman, to abandon her life in favor of a more devout one. The song plays as the pair process the conversation that they had, with Thaïs eventually opting to join the monk. The melody is light and serene, with a hint of mystery that envelopes listeners. Originally composed for a small orchestra, however several adaptations have been created, including one for piano and cello which will be performed at PasséFutur. This work is purely abstract, and open to any interpretation that comes to the viewer; no meaning can be described or prescribed for it. It consists of four digital paintings that have been combined into one large mural, with the work of Wassily Kandinsky serving as a major inspiration. I created this painting as a material that illustrates the musical piece by Massenet as a 3D digital journey. It was played on Friday 30th September 22 in Paris, at the passefutur show, along with the live performance of David Erhard (piano) and Marion Hedin (Cello). As the camera pans throughout the work, a sense of depth is created so that viewers can feel as if they themselves are plunging into the world of this art. We invite them to meditate upon the ballad of colors and shapes as they explore this universe.
