“Oooh…” Sasha gazed, completely captivated by the natural phenomenon. After a few moments mesmerized, he broke free and turned around the card to look at the name. “Wow, Montana… Heh, you guys sure went out far,” he mused, handing the postcard back. “I always thought it’d be cool to check out the west, but Dad says the ride there would be awfully boring ‘cause there’s nothing but corn fields all the way there…”

“he’s right, you know what there is in Kansas? nothing... like literally nothing. We drove through the largest city and saw this.”

“Which was pretty cool but still.”

Needless to say, Sasha stopped trusting MK to watch his stove for him from then out, typically calling for Butch or Sapphire (whenever she wasn’t busy with dance recitals) to run errands for him so he wouldn’t have to abandon his cooking. “So sad I can trust you with my life, yet I can’t trust you with my flapjacks,” he joked.

With a grin, the teenage cook raised his arms over his head and stretched. “One order of special Kozlov pancakes for tomorrow then… Usual shapes, or ya want I could mix it up? …Oh, look! Krill!” That last part was just him reciting one of Dory’s lines in unison with her.

“Surprise me,” he said simply, yawning quietly and looking at Sasha for a second before looking back at the screen.

“Woah! That’s awesome!” He smiled. “Wish I had a cool story.”

Sasha sat back, listening intently as MK described the lake. “Coooool…” he marveled as soon as he was done speaking. “Probably’d kinda freak out trying to swim in a lake like that–my skin would keep telling me I’m in water, but my eyes would keep trying to say there’s nothing under me–my brain would get so confused!” he laughed.

It was great that MK got to travel out further now. It was just great in general that monsters could travel out more with less prejudice to deal with than they would’ve in the earlier months since their return. Sasha wondered what else the wyvern family got to see while out there.

“Yeah I even bought a bunch of postcards of everywhere we went, that way you, and my other friends, could see what I mean... hang on...” MK dug into his bad for a moment with his tail searching for the bundle of postcards.

Vinnie had been walking around, kind of somewhat lost again. He got lost a lot, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to him that he didn’t quite recognize where he was, but he wasn’t in much of a rush to get back home so he’d been wandering the place and exploring. 

Hearing a sudden yell, though, he looked over to where the sound was coming from, slowly approaching MK. He tilted his head as he stared down, but the monster looked like he was hurt and he figured the first thing he should probably ask is, “Hey, uh, are you okay…?”

“No.” MK said angrily, “My one way of getting around is hurt... maybe even broken. and It’s all My Fault.” 

He smiled. “Seems pretty cool… Little anxious around strangers, I think; told me he was a shopkeeper when I first met him so I wouldn’t try attacking me, but…he told me the truth once he realized I meant no harm…” he recalled. “He’s real smart, too, and knows a lotta facts and fancy words. Been hanging around the library since I brought him up here…”

Sasha nodded his bestie on eagerly. “So…what’s this super cool lake, and what’s the super cool thing about it?” He’d said his piece, so it was Kid’s turn to talk.

“Cool sounds like I should go to the library to meet him then.” MK said simply before grinning widely.

Sasha grinned broadly, chuckling. “You just like seeing me get fancy with my pancakes, don’tcha?”

Pancakes and waffles were among some of his favorite breakfasts to make, so he naturally tended to have a little fun when preparing them. Omelettes were another breakfast dish he tended to get creative with.

MK smirked slightly, “Well duh,” he said simply.

“Plus the batter you make is like the best, so it’s always awesome either way. Even when I burn it to a chrisp.” MK was of course referencing the time Sasha had asked him to watch the pancakes when the human went out real quick to grab something.
