Chapter Summary: Hanging out with Peter again. You visit his house and listen to the 'X&Y' album by Coldplay. A/N: Mentions of bad mental health (I assume if you read these you probably already have that)
Not a lot happens in this chapter tbh it's just kinda a filler. Next chapter there with be the smoking of marijuana so you have been warned.
Crushes were not a foreign concept to you, but you weren’t used to one this strong. You’ve only been hanging out with Peter for a few days and yet you had completely fallen for this boy. He had smitten you with his charm and charisma and pretty face.
You had a few crushes over the years but none you would act on. Nothing more than “He’s cute and if he asked me out I would say yes”. But when you thought of it, none of them were Peter. You had always had a stagnate crush on him. And now that you could feel hopeful about it it was hard to not get excited.
Peter had texted you about an hour after he left letting you know he made it home. You felt bad that he had to skate home at night, maybe your dad would let you borrow the car today. You didn’t sleep well last night, your brain keeping you awake with thoughts of Peter. You guys had decided on you coming over around noon. You were constantly checking how long it would take to get there walking, not wanting to be late. 10 minutes, 25 minutes, 18 minutes.
You woke up at 8:00 which is much earlier than you would have liked to. You like to sleep in on the weekends, getting up at 9:30-10:00. But your wired mind and anxiety about being late woke you up much sooner.
You took a shower and got ready. You opted for some shorts because it was nice out, paired with a worn tee and a flannel. You put your hair up and went downstairs to make some breakfast, it felt like a pancake kinda day.
You were almost done when you hear your dad come down the stairs.
“Good morning, sweetheart. You’re up early.”
You greeted him as he went to make some coffee, “yeah, I didn’t sleep well last night.”
He peered at you concerned, “Anything wrong? You know you can talk to me right?”
This warmed and broke your heart. You and your dad are extraordinarily close, he’s been there through everything. You guys hadn’t always been so tight. You blamed him for a lot of things when you were younger. Both of you had to learn and grow. Ever since your first trip to the hospital, your dad has been worried about you. It was scary for him and he wanted to know you were safe.
You looked away from the pancakes, “I promise dad, nothing bad.”
He nodded, not needing any more than that, but crossed the kitchen to hug you. You let yourself melt into it. He always gave great hugs, and he used them a lot to say things he otherwise didn’t know how to say.
“I love you bug”
“I love you too”
Your father sat down with his coffee and the paper and you continued making pancakes. You set them down in front of him and he gave you a quiet 'thanks'.
“Hey dad,” you began sweetly, your father hummed knowing you were going to ask a favour. “Can I borrow the car today?”
He put his paper down and looked at you, “Of course honey, what do you need it for?”
You cleared your throat from some of the orange juice, “I’m hanging out at Peter’s today and I don’t want to walk.”
At that, your father smirked, “Hanging out with Peter huh?” You covered your face to hide the warmth in your cheeks.
“Daaad” you whined, muffled by your palms
“What? I didn’t say anything.” he began laughing at your embarrassment, “I just think it’s interesting that you’re hanging out with him so much lately. I mean, the last time I remember you mentioning a Peter was in middle school.”
You shot your head up, “Oh, please dad, no” You groaned out but he only continued.
“Oh! Is this the same Peter? The one that you told me you wanted to marry one day because he was so pretty and smart?” You continued to groan as he carried on.
“How very interesting. I can see what you’re saying, he's very handsome. Does my child have a crush on the tall skater boy?”
You continued to eat your pancakes in silence ignoring how warm your face was. Your dad laughed to himself as he continued reading the paper.
Peter was getting similar treatment right about now. His aunt was in her scrubs as she passed out eggs and bacon to her husband and nephew.
“And they’re coming over today?” his aunt asked trying to be casual.
“Yeah May, around noon,” Peter replied shortly, not wanting to talk about it.
“Are they nice?” May continued. Peter had never had a “friend” over before which she thought was shocking. Her nephew was smart and handsome and had the cutest hair. Well, it could use a trim but he refused.
“Yeah May, they’re cool.” Peter gave her a tight-lipped smile then continued eating. Ben put down the paper he was pretending to read.
“Is that why you like ‘em?” He asked plainly.
“Uncle Ben I- What do you mean ‘like them’?” Peter gave him a confused strare, scoffing a little too much. Ben and May just looked at each other smiling.
“Well, I just meant that you probably liked them to invite them over but it seems you think they’re cute too.” Ben was teasing and Peter knew it.
“I never said I thought they were cute,” he replied quietly, not convincing anyone.
“Then why are you blushing?” Ben shot him a wink as he got up to kiss his wife goodbye. He was off to do some errands and wouldn’t be back until later in the afternoon.
His aunt was set to leave after breakfast for a shift at the hospital she picked up, “The holidays are coming up and a few extra dollars never hurt.” is what she would say anytime someone brung it up.
Peter kissed his aunt goodbye and made his way up to his room. It wasn’t dirty. Dirty was when you had food and mysterious stains in your room. It was, however, pretty messy. He had a lot of dirty clothes on the floor and his bed was unmade and his desk was a mess. Normally he wouldn’t care about these kinds of things but he had just watched you panic yesterday about a few clothes on the floor.

You pulled up in front of a very cute house. It was a little smaller than yours with a porch swing. You made your way up to the door. You always hated screen doors because you never knew how to interact with them. Do you knock on that door or the door door? After moments of deliberation, you opened the screen door and knocked on the main door then stepped back and let the screen close again. You picked at your nails and scuffed your shoe on the ground.
You hear the door open and are greeted by Peter. He’s in a baggy tee and blue flannel pyjama pants. You couldn’t help but smile. You realize you’ve been doing that a lot lately. It’s not that you didn’t smile before but maybe not. You couldn’t remember.
“Hey! Come on in.” He smiled opening the door and stepping aside to let you in.
“Did you just wake up?” He seemed confused by your question and you brought your hand forward to gesture to his comfy attire.
He blushed, “Nah, I just haven’t changed yet.”
You were both analysing each other. Peter was admiring your outfit, or more so you in your outfit. It wasn’t anything over the top but it was “you” and he liked “you.” You were soaking in the domestic, cozy look Peter had going on. He looked so…soft. I mean he always did that’s part of his appeal but like this, in a threadbare shirt and plaid cotton pants, you want to curl up with him and waste the day away.
Peter realised he was awkwardly staring you down and moved to the side to let you in. You stepped into the not-quite foyer. There was some space before the stairs and the living room and you could see a pile of shoes by the wall. You moved over to take yours off while Peter passed you walking to the kitchen.
“Do you want anything? Water? Juice?” You politely shook your head suddenly feeling timid. You were at Peter’s house and it seemed just like him. There were pictures on the wall of a lovely couple and Peter over the years. Some other pictures of what seemed to be New York. All framed and on the wall.
“What about food? It is lunchtime, have you eaten yet?” You told Peter that you hadn’t had anything since breakfast but you weren’t quite hungry yet. He nodded his head saying he wasn’t hungry yet either.
“Let me give you a tour.” Peter moved quickly through the house. He started with the basement and moved upstairs to show off the kitchen and living room. Pointing to bathrooms and closets as he went. He started heading up the stairs and opened a door, “This is my room.”
It was dim in there, the curtains were closed still, the only light coming from a small lamp on his nightstand. In the warm yellow light, you took in his messily made bed and the several posters on the wall. They were mostly bands, some you recognised others you didn’t. You turned slowly taking them in.
You also noticed his computer and a camera sitting on a desk. There was a weird thing on the door that appeared very “makeshift bomb-y” to you but you trusted that it wasn’t. On his dresser, there was a huge sound system. Around the room, there were scattered books and CDs.
If the house looked like Peter Parker’s home this definitely looked like Peter Parker’s room. Everything about it made sense. It smelled like him too, stronger. Citrus and teakwood. That seemed right.
Peter stood in the doorway as he watched you slowly twirl around, taking everything in. He was too busy watching you to be nervous about what you thought. You walked over to the bookshelf first and began looking through the titles.
There was an equal amount of mainstream fantasy as there was mathematical and scientific theory. Any doubts about Peter being smart left your mind. (They were never there but still). Everyone would tease you for your taste or assume that you were super smart for reading philosophy and the classics. You couldn’t imagine reading Einstein and Hawking for fun though.
You heard a drawer open behind you and you saw Peter grabbing some jeans. He walked back over to you and pointed to a door on your right. “There’s the bathroom if you need it, I’m gonna get dressed.” You nodded as he disappeared. You tried not to be upset with the door for obstructing your view.
You felt a buzz in your pocket before you could dwell on it much longer.
Pops:
Hey honey…You make it okay?
(Kiddo):
Yeah all good! Sorry I forgot to text
Pops:
It’s all good love…tell Peter I said hi!!
The bathroom door opened and out stepped Peter. You were crouched on the ground browsing through his books. To say Peter seemed tall was an understatement. The contradicting light from the bathroom and his bedroom lamp was giving him a glow you couldn’t explain. Your breath was held hostage in your lungs.
Peter smiled at you none the wiser. “Did you find anything you liked?”
You looked back to the books unable to look at him. “Nah, all of these are too much brain work for me.”
He laughed as you continued, “Seriously, reading these is like reading a textbook for fun!”
He made his way over to his bed and you stood up, playing with your hands, suddenly unsure of what to do. Peter began scratching the back of his neck seemingly in a similar boat.
“I have to confess something,” At Peter’s words your heart stopped, You finally met his gaze. His face was unreadable, he looked a little guilty almost, but only a little.
“I didn’t have any plans today…like I don’t know what to do now that you’re here.” He gave an embarrassed laugh as you released the trapped air from your chest. Once you levelled your breathing again you gave him a smile.
“That’s alright, I like just hanging out with you. We don’t have to do anything.” Peter beamed at you, and you couldn’t help the warmth in your cheeks.
He stayed quiet for a while, studying you. You seemed to be struggling with eye contact today. He didn’t know what that meant. Did you like him or not? He still couldn’t tell.
He patted his hand on the bedding beside him and he was pleased when you slowly sat. He didn’t want to dominate the conversation, he had been told he could talk a lot, but he also didn’t want you to feel like you had to.
“My dad says ‘hi’.” You eventually said, electing to stare at the posters instead of him.
“Tell him I said ‘hi’ back,” Peter said chuckling. You laughed too which made Peter’s chest fill with warmth. He really did love the sound of your laugh. It was soon followed with more silence.
“He likes you…by the way,” You said quietly. Peter took the opportunity to glance at you. You were already looking at him with a small smile on your face. Peter’s grew at the realisation.
“Oh yeah?” He mused.
“Yeah, he likes that we hang out.” You moved some hair from your face and Peter wished that he had gotten to do it.
“I like that we hang out,” He said it so simply, still gazing at you. Your smile grew and you fought the urge to look away from him.
“Me too.” You both stared at each other for what felt like ages. The Narrator could tell you that it was only 15 seconds but they won’t.
Peter got up silently making his way to the sound system, putting in a CD. You watched his movements. He wasn’t particularly graceful but to you, his movement seemed languid like a siren’s song- dance. Yeah, that was it. You couldn’t help your gaze, tracing his long, trimmed limbs.
You recognised the beginning notes, “Square One, Coldplay.”
Peter looked at you and smiled, “Yeah it’s the X&Y album”
You nodded your head before moving it to the music. Peter turned up the volume some before he went back to the bed to sit next to you. His leg was bouncing to the beat. He liked you a lot and he didn’t want you to be bored but he was never a great host.
He chose this CD because Coldplay is pretty universal, a safe bet. He was happy to have made the right decision and you seemed to be enjoying it. However, he was having unexpected difficulty with your closeness. Or rather the lack thereof. You were much too far for his liking.
He felt like he had to fight every reflex he had, watching your head sway to the music and your fingers dance to the melody. As the song came to an end he flopped on his back looking to the ceiling instead.
What he didn’t know was you were fighting the same battle. When Peter laid down he silently presented you with the option to lay down with him. You didn’t want to fall back too soon though and make it weird. You couldn’t imagine how that could be weird but you didn’t want to risk missing a physical cue. You spent all of “What if” contemplating when you could lay down. You decided that the end of the song was fine.
You gently moved down and realized that Peter had taken up more space than you had thought. His hand was by your shoulder and you felt fire there. You and Peter took turns looking at the ceiling and then each other. Neither of you catching the other but feeling the mattress dip when someone would start to turn their head.
You wanted to touch or hold him, several songs had passed with both of you passively singing parts but no one said anything. You had made a brilliant plan. You feigned a stretch pulling both of your hands above your head before resting one arm across your forehead and the other just under Peter’s hand by your shoulder.
Peter’s fingers twitched slightly as he took in that it was your fingers that were touching his. Before he lost courage he intertwined them, scanning your face for a reaction. You whipped your head over to confirm that he was actually holding hands when you met his eyes. They were filled with fear, you tried your best to give him a small smile and squeezed his hand gently. He looked down at your fingers and then back at you with a big toothy grin.
You brought your other hand down to cover your mouth embarrassed by the sudden smile overtaking your features.

Geralt's head turns in the opposite direction he ascends, momentarily pausing with a questionable look. Jaskier follows suit, not understanding quite why the white wolf is still, finger pressing against the handle of his sword.
"Geralt, what in -."
"Shut up, Jaskier." It is growled through clenched teeth as ears perk out the sound of twigs snapping. To anyone else it would go unnoticed, the creature behind them are unskilled, not too bad except for the fact their heart is beating a million miles a minute. Jaskier thought of the few sticks snapping as wild rabbits hurrying through the bushes.
To be honest, it was pretty impressive you made it this far without Geralt noticing. Almost a whole day he thought he left you at home with the promise of returning. Geralt was impressed he hadn't noticed a tail for this long but blames it on the fact that the bard is the most obnoxious, loudest person to roam this continent.
Geralt nose is high in the air, the wind catching at just the perfect time before the familiar smell of strawberries and lavender shampoo makes him scowl.
"Come out, now." The command comes from a cleaned jaw, anger prominent by the way the muscle in his jaw twitches. Goosebumps ripple against your skin, the look of those amber eyes is enough to have you ready to run all the way home but so fear stricken you don't dare move. "I can smell you, don't make me repeat myself."
Jaskier looks around the small wooded area with confusion wrinkling his forehead, "Geralt you have officially gone mad -."
But his words are quickly cut short by the crushing of leaves underneath the leather soles of your boots. Suddenly he understands Geralt's alertness and is questioning himself for not hearing you earlier. The way you move through the forest is no doubt loud and unskillful. How did you make it this far?
"Please, please, please don't be mad." You plead with puppy dog-like eyes, staring at the ground ready for Geralt's scolding. Disappointment and anger sore in those unique Witcher eyes, top lip forming a snarl as you continue to speak, "I'm sorry."
“Are you out of your fucking mind?” His voice booms across the forest, filled with so much power that birds scatter from the trees above. There is a rumble or grunt that follows after, vibrating in his chest as he inspects you from head to toe checking for any injuries.
Geralt steps closer and you tense as the mountain of a man is only inches away. His hand touches your shoulder then cheek as he turns your head quickly for a close examination of any cuts or bruises.
But the moment his hand drops back to his side so does your heart. He looks disappointed as he shakes his head, mumbling something along the lines of, 'unbelieveable'
Two very large arms cross his chest, the leather of his armour screeching at the seer size as he stares straight into your soul, the look is enough to cause a chill down your spine and hand tremble. Nothing is scary then a Witcher, even one that would do anything and everything for you.
You refuse to meet his eyes, the product of his disappointment makes your stomach flip. "I told you to stay. It is too dangerous for you!"
"I know, I'm sorry." You weren't sorry for following but for going against his orders, "I just can't spend another day in that town. I want to be with you."
"No, absolutely not. You need to be where it is safe."
"Well, you do not own me, Geralt." He seems to forget that you are in fact, your own person, not his property at his whim. "You and Jaskier come back with these stories and have all these adventures and I'm stuck at home waiting for your return, It is not fair."
"It seems our dear lady does have a point." Jaskier adds, fingers pressing to the strings of the lute nervously but does not play a note. He knows he is testing the Witcher's patience. "Jaskier, you play one fucking note, I will strangle you."
Geralt's attention turns back towards you, "Is that what this is about? You want an adventure?"
"Yes, I have never left my town. I want to see the lands."
"You needth do this for that, I would take you but when it is safe and not where we are going." Geralt's grasp on your wrist is gentle but applies just enough pressure to show his assertiveness as he guides you towards Roach, "When I get back, get on Roach, we are bringing you home."
With one last try, you dig your heels into the dirt and pull away from his grasp. With a normal man, no doubt you would acquire the strength to escape but it's no march for the Witcher. Geralt only looks at you with pure astonishment, surprised you would even try to fight him. His sweet angel who always listens. Your words spoken with venom, "Let. Go. Geralt."
"I am taking you back. Get on Roach, I won't repeat myself.”
"No." Geralt is stunned by your defiance. Of course, you always spoke your mind and was somewhat a spit fire but never was he on the receiving side of it.
"Repeat yourself?"
"Are you hard of hearing?" The Witcher sucked in his bottom lip and released her arm but pulled at the ties of his cloak, annoyed.
Jaskier’s eyes widen almost instantly, nervously singing a tune under his breath, "Oh, look! Something looks weird over there, I'll be back."
"You are acting like -."
"Like my own person? Someone who won't let you tell me what to do?"
Geralt balls his fist at his side, "A child, you're acting like a spoiled brat."
"I refuse to be left behind any longer. What am I supposed to do, just sit around and wait for you to return months later? I will not." You pause, "Not while you are out exploring lands, seeing different sunsets and women. " The last part makes Geralt's brows lift with a scoff.
"Is this truly what this is about, other women? I don't have any other women."
"You are impossible!" You explain with hands shooting straight in the air, "Have you been listening to me at all?! I am not going home, I am staying with you and Jaskier."
Finally, Geralt snaps. His lets out a low growl before reaching forward and knotting his fingers into your hair so he is cradling your head into his palm. It's gentle, kind of comforting but he makes sure to apply just enough pressure to have your full concentration. "Get on Roach, you're going home."
"I am staying with you." Clearly the stubborn approach isn't working so you decide on a new one, extending your arm and using the pads of your knuckles to trace the structure of his jaw with tenderness. A touch he thought he had to wait months to feel again. "Let me stay, please, my love. I can't spend another minute in that boring town. I'm lonely without you."
The way his eyes soften, along with his hold as his looks at your face. The desperation behind those bright eyes, the way your bottom lip sticks out just the slightest. The prickle of his stubble as you cup his cheek and lean just a little bit closer.
Geralt squeezes his eyes shut, trying not to fall under your spell. Of course he wants you with him, always but if anything were ever to happen, it would be his fault. "It's dangerous out here, I can't always protect you, sweet girl. You must understand this."
"Geralt, you always protect me, even if you don't realize it but I made it this far without you noticing, I can help myself." Geralt doesn't like that answer it appears as he sighs, bringing your forehead to his chest before resting his own against your hair.
Finally his body relaxes, arms wrapping snuggly around your waist and bringing you close until your cheek rests against his cold armour. He pulls away for a second and it's just to pull the cloak off his own shoulders and put it on you.
The pattern of his heart is soothing, low but consistent. Finally you pull away, and on your toes press a kiss to his cheek but follow with a line of kisses against his jaw. A way of soothing his anger towards you. Geralt hums in appreciation as you whisper hot breath against the corner of his lips, "Please don't make me go back, bear."
The nickname is one that makes his heart flutter. One you have claimed a very long time ago due to his sheer size and the fact that the first time you met him, he did in fact save you from one.
Geralt squeezes his eyes in frustration and squeezes your hip affectionately. Then follows with a soft kiss against your lips that still held irritation and frustration by the tone, "You must listen to me."
With that said, a smile appears that reaches your eyes, "I know."
"I mean it, everything I say." He holds your hand while bringing you across the clearing to approach Roach. "You will listen and stay in the nearest town while I handle the work or no matter where we are. I will tie you up against your will and bring you home. Do you understand me?"
"Yes, I understand." Before Geralt could help you mount the horse you squeal and jump to hug him. Geralt tries to hide behind a smile but is futile as the corners of his lips twitch at your excitement.
Geralt effortlessly helps you into Roach, petting her softy on the nose before looking around the clearing for the Bard.
Jaskier soon comes from the treeline but his jaw drops, "Why does she get to ride Roach?"
Flattening your tongue out in Jaskier' direction with mischievous eyes. Jaskier gasps, finding a small rock to throw but right before it makes an impact Geralt catches it mid-air. Geralt gives a stern, warning look as you try not to laugh.
Between the both you and Jaskier, Geralt has his hands full.
Marcus and Allison were in art, their last period of the day. The seating arrangement was very flexible in the class, you could sit anywhere you like. Ever since Marcus and Allison did shrooms together (and kissed), they sat together every class period. Their “spot” was the table all the way at the back of the class. They were both finished with their assignment early, so they were planning what they would do after school. It wasn’t explicitly said but they were keeping the fact that they hang out away from their twin sisters. They liked staying inside their own bubble. They didn’t want any attention on this weird situationship that they had because then that would lead to questions and labels. They were both happy with just hanging out. However, they had not communicated this to one another. And that’s why this is on Allison’s agenda for today’s hangout. Allison will finally ask the question: “What are we?”
Marcus was immersed in a sketch on the margin of his notebook. Allison rested her head on her hand and quietly admired the way his hair fell into his eyes, ‘You want to come over after school?’
Marcus looked up and flicked the hair from his face, ‘Yeah. I can pick up Blue Farm and meet you there’, Allison agreed, ‘What do you want?’
Allison smiled sweetly, ‘Turkey club with sweet potato fries, please. And ranch! Do not forget the ranch. Joe’s is the best.’
‘Yes, ma’am’

Allison rode home with Abby after school. Abby peeked her head into Allison’s room, ‘Are you sure you don’t want to come hang out at Norah’s? I know you’re just going to be sitting in your room alone.’
Allison shook her head, ‘No, I’m fine. I have a load of math homework to catch up on anyway. Believe me, I wish I could go.’
Abby knocked on the door frame, ‘Have fun!’
‘Oh, I will!’ Allison yelled back. Her sister had no idea.

Marcus had called in their order right when they got out of class, so by the time he made it over to Blue Farm it would be ready. Unfortunately, it was not. It was unusually busy today, so Marcus still had to wait for his order. He texted Allison, ‘blue farm’s busy. be there in a bit’
Allison liked the message and responded, ‘k. don’t forget the ranch!’. Marcus laughed and rolled his eyes. ‘i wonttt’ His order number was called at the counter. He grabbed the to-go bag when the shrill voice of his twin sister piped up behind him, ‘Hey Marcus! Whatcha doing here?’ Maxine stood behind him with Norah and Abby flanking her.
‘Getting food, Maxine. What else?’ He replied in a purposefully condescending voice.
She dug through his bag, ‘Hmm.. that’s a lot of food.’
‘Yeah, I’m erm,’ he cleared his throat, ‘hanging out with my chem partner, so I got us some food.’ No one knew about these meet-ups that he and Allison were having and he wanted to keep it that way. He also didn’t want his sister knowing all of his business.
‘At home?’ Max asked.
‘No, at their house. Can I go now?’
‘Yeah, whatever. Have fun, ' Maxine responded. Marcus walked out of Blue Farm and started skating to Allison’s. ‘Geez, what’s up with him?’ Max looked over at Norah and Abby for reassurance. They both shrugged.
When he was halfway to Allison’s he realized he forgot the stupid ranch.

Allison answered the knock at the front door and let Marcus inside, ‘Hey.’
‘Hey,’ Marcus responded and shut the door behind himself. He set the bag of food on the table by the door and grabbed Allison by the waist. He gave her a long and hard kiss. Allison moaned in delight as Marcus pushed her against the wall. Allison wrapped her arms around Marcus’s neck and ran her hands up into his hair.
After a bit longer, Allison pulled back but they still kept their arms around each other, ‘What was that for?’
Marcus gave Allison a quick peck and a smile, ‘I forgot the ranch.’ Allison couldn’t help but laugh.
Her jaw dropped and she lightly pushed Marcus away, ‘Oh my… you said you wouldn’t! I even reminded you!’
Marcus picked up the Blue Farm bag and they both walked into the kitchen. He sat down at the island, ‘I know, I know, but I have a good reason.’ Allison went to the fridge and grabbed them both drinks. Marcus started pulling their take out boxes out of the bag, ‘I ran into Max and your sister at Blue Farm. Max wouldn’t let me leave without asking a bunch of questions first.’
Allison gasped, ‘What kind of questions? What did you say?’ She rounded the island to sit in the stool next to Marcus.
Marcus placed Allison’s box of food in front of her and grabbed one of the drinks Allison placed on the table. He shook his head, ‘Just Max being her usual pushy self. She started asking me questions about what I was getting, who I was getting it for, and where we were going to be. I didn’t know what to say, so I just told her that I was hanging out with my chem partner.’
‘Oh,’ Allison munched on a fry. Allison guessed this was as good a time as any to bring up their “relationship”, ‘Yeah, I’ve been wanting to ask you: What are we exactly? What’s the plan here?’
Marcus swallowed his food, ‘I mean, I like spending time with you. I like kissing you,’ Allison blushed, ‘I just don’t want a relationship right now.’ Marcus feels like an asshole for saying it, but it’s true. After losing his friend, he just doesn’t think he has it in him to get so attached to someone like that for a while. He has a lot of fun with Allison, but he doesn’t want to deal with the inevitable hurt that comes with a relationship. He knows he’ll fuck it up somehow.
Allison is quiet. She takes a bite of her sandwich to gather her thoughts. ‘I guess we’re on the same page then because I really like kissing you too and I’m not looking for a boyfriend right now either. My last boyfriend was a bit of dick,’ Allison shrugs, ‘So, I am OK with continuing whatever it is that we’re doing, this “no strings thing”, but I do have one condition,’ Marcus nods for her to continue, ‘No one can know. We need to keep this under wraps just like we’ve been doing. If people find out we’re doing this you’ll probably get a high five, but me? I’ll get labeled a slut by everyone at school. So, do you agree? We keep this secret.’
Marcus nods, ‘Yeah, if you’re okay with it then I am too. To everyone else we’re acquaintances. We barely even know each other. We just also do this from time to time,’ Marcus put his hand on the back of her chair and leaned in close. Allison met him half way and their lips touched. Allison ran her hands through his hair and tugged. Damn she loved his hair. Marcus groaned and Allison snuck her tongue in. Allison leaned back and gave Marcus a soft peck on the side of his mouth. ‘Mm, those sweet potato fries taste really good,’ Allison laughed. Marcus smirked and grabbed a fry out of her box.

The group hangout is back at the Baker house this weekend. The Baker parents are in Boston for the weekend for some reason, Max never elaborated. The farthest she got was, ‘My parents are gone this weekend. Party at my house’ No one cared enough to ask why, as long as they had a house to get drunk at. They were all excited to have a chance to let off some steam.
Allison didn’t want to let on how excited she was for the party since she wasn’t excited for the same reason as everyone else. She was looking forward to the chance to hang out with Marcus Baker. She had some classes with him and saw him here and there in the hallway since the last MAAN and co. hangout but this would be different. It would just be him and her all night. Allison had some plans for the night and she couldn’t wait!
The party was going along very similarly to the last one. They were in the freezing cold playing some drinking game just like last time. And once again Allison was babying the same drink just long enough until everyone was too drunk to notice her sneak upstairs.
Marcus is scrolling mindlessly on his phone because he can’t focus on anything at the moment. Allison was on his mind and she wasn’t going away. He couldn’t help but hope that she wandered up into his room again. After he unconsciously watched the same Tik Tok four times in a row he couldn’t take it anymore. He decided that he would go downstairs, grab a beer, and invite Allison upstairs. If she refuses, hey! It’s cool. He’ll just play Smash Bros by himself (like that’s not depressing at all). He really hopes she doesn’t refuse.
They got drunk a lot faster than Allison expected. They must really suck at this game or are really good at it, she thought. Although she wasn’t paying enough attention to them to be able to tell which conclusion was the right one. Allison was too busy mindlessly playing some candy crush-esque game on her phone. She was trying to keep her mind off a certain Baker who was just upstairs. She would 100% rather be up in his room with him than outside with MAAN and co. but she honestly was a little nervous now that the time came. She didn’t want to just assume that he wanted to hang out with her. Maybe he had other plans for tonight. Plans that did not involve her.
Marcus quickly scanned the backyard as he stepped through the sliding glass door. The music was loud and there was screaming and laughter coming from the game being played just steps away. He found Allison sitting on a camping chair off to the side. Completely forgetting his “cover” of grabbing a beer, he strode over to Allison with as much confidence that he could muster. No one even noticed he was downstairs, but he honestly couldn’t care less. All he cared about was getting to hang out with Allison tonight (such a sap!). He placed a hand on her arm. He could tell that he caught her off guard with how fast she whipped her head up. He leaned down to speak directly in her ear, ‘Want to come upstairs?’ Allison smiled and nodded in agreement. Marcus couldn’t keep the small smile off of his face. Allison and Marcus tried to stealthily make their way into the house without being noticed.
Not too far from Allison, Samantha was sitting in a lawn chair of her own. She, Abby, and Max got in a bit of a fight earlier in the night so the girls decided to ignore Samantha.They weren’t even really mad anymore, they just thought it was a fun game at this point. Samantha was the only person on the deck to see the interaction between Allison and Marcus. Honestly, it stunned her. She had never seen the two really interact. She sensed something between the two. Max and Abby could be bitches sometimes, so she figured she could file that information away to use another time.

‘Thank you for coming down there and saving me,’ Allison smirked. ‘Any longer and I probably would’ve died of frostbite’
Marcus laughs, ‘You are very welcome, but you know I’m starting to think you’re more dramatic than my sister.’
Allison gasps dramatically, ‘You take that back! She could probably hear you’ Allison looks around Marcus’s room in mock fear.
Marcus plops down on his bed, ‘Ready to lose at Smash Bros again?’
‘Actually, no. I was thinking we could do something else tonight,’ Allison pulls out a small ziploc bag of shrooms, ‘I mean if you’re open to it’ She adds this quickly so he knows he has an out if he wanted to.
‘Yeah, I’m down, but I thought you didn’t like that stuff. Like partying.’ Marcus really hoped she wasn’t just doing this for his sake, ‘It’s a lot of fun watching you lose.’
Allison gave him a fake smile, ‘Yeah I bet that is super fun for you,’ Marcus grinned. ‘I just don’t love getting wasted all the time. Either way, this isn’t “partying”. This is more like a spiritual experience. Have you done them before?’
Marcus leaned forward, ‘No, I haven’t. You’d be popping my figurative cherry.’ He couldn’t help himself. She had just set it up so nicely. Allison tried hard not to smile (and failed) at the corny/suggestive joke and keep a deadpan expression.
Allison sits in front of Marcus on his bed ‘Well, thank you for allowing me to guide you on this journey,’ she said in a serene voice. ‘But seriously, it’s gonna be fun. I’ve done them twice before with my cousin so I am basically an expert. During both times I made some pretty great art.’
Marcus claps, ‘Alright! Let’s trip’

Marcus went downstairs to gather snacks and water for the trip (per Allison’s request). Meanwhile, Allison set up some chill music on a speaker in Marcus’s room along with paper and pens if they felt like drawing during the trip. She really wanted Marcus to enjoy himself. When the shrooms kicked in Marcus became weirdly obsessed with the music playing. Currently, it is playing a nature sounds playlist. He felt like he was transported to the babbling brook that he could hear through the speaker. He placed his hands on the speaker and felt the vibrations move through his hands and up his arms. In his tripped out mind, he wasn’t Marcus Baker. He was the babbling brook.
On the other side of the room, Allison was in a starfish position on the fluffy rug beside Marcus’s bed. She had never felt anything more soft in her life. It was like each individual thread was giving her a warm hug. Allison wanted more little hugs though, so she set out on a search in Marcus’s room. The “search” being touching every possible surface, fabric, and object in the room. This led her to start comparing and contrasting the different physical sensations she received from everything she touched. What really caught her attention were the walls. She wondered if each piece of art was unique in texture. In Allison’s tripped out mind, they really all were unique. The marker felt different from the paint and the paint felt dramatically different from the pencil (Allison preferred the hugs from the markers). ‘Marcus! Come here! Feel your art on the walls. I feel like I’m getting millions of little tiny hugs from your art,’ Marcus jumped up and came to stand next to Allison. She turned to look at him, ‘Does that make sense?’
‘Completely!’ Marcus stuck out his hands and began tracing the clock he drew on his wall just a couple of weeks ago. ‘Wooahh. I think I feel it. I feel the tiny hugs!’ Both of them were mesmerized by the drawings on the walls for another good five minutes until Marcus remembered the babbling brook. He had to show Allison the babbling brook! ‘Allison, you need to come feel-’ he placed his hand on her arm and froze. ‘Oh my god. Your sweater is giving me way better hugs than this wall. Oh my god. The hugs!’ Marcus couldn’t stop himself from rubbing his hands up and down the side of her arms.
‘Really?’ She turned and started doing the same motions as Marcus. ‘Marcus! Your shirt too!’ They beamed at each other while caressing each other’s arms. Allison moved her hands up and ran them through his long dark hair. It was like silk.
Marcus reciprocated this action. He started twirling her hair around his fingers. It was like water the way it moved so freely. Marcus looked up in realization at Allison, ‘You’re the brook too!’
Allison had no idea what he was talking about but went along with it anyway, ‘Cooool.’
Their eyes roamed each other’s faces. Studying every feature like it was the first time they were seeing each other. Marcus places a hand on Allison’s cheek, ‘Allison… Can I feel how soft your lips are with my lips?’
Allison smiles, ‘Did you just read my mind right now? Yes, of course you can.’ Marcus wastes no time and softly presses his lips against hers. The hand that was resting on her cheek moves up to cup the back of her head. Her hands find the sides of his arms. She uses them to steady herself and pull her body even closer to him until it feels like every physical part of them is touching. Allison decides, Marcus Baker’s lips give way better tiny hugs than his fluffy rug ever could.
Monday Morning…
Back at school, Marcus and Allison are both anxious about seeing each other again. They haven’t talked since the amazing kiss(es) they shared on Friday night. However, they both knew that they wanted to see each other again and not just at some MAAN hangout.
Just before the end of lunch, Marcus spots Allison at her locker alone. He hadn’t been able to find the time to speak to her since now because they were either in class or MAAN was hanging around. She was in the middle of unloading her books into her locker when Marcus strolled up to her, ‘Hey, Allison’
She placed her final notebook in her locker and turned toward Marcus, ‘Oh! Hey Marcus’
Marcus leaned against the locker next to hers, ‘I just wanted to say that I had a good time with you on Friday. I will never look at my walls the same again.’
She covered her face in embarrassment, ‘Ugh.. the tiny hugs. Yeah, I don’t think I’ll be able to look at your walls the same again either.’ They both laughed thinking of the weird shit they got up to on that Friday night This also reminded them of the climax of that night. The kiss.
Marcus ran his hand through his hair, ‘Do you want to hang out sometime? Like really hanging out, no party to hide from, no hard drugs or alcohol.’
Now it was Allison’s turn to fiddle with her hair, ‘Yeah! I’d really like that.’
Marcus grinned, ‘Cool.’
The bell rang marking the five minute warning until their fifth period started. Allison closed her locker, ‘Alright, I’ll see you later,’ she placed her hand on his arm before she started walking away from her locker. A few steps away she stopped and turned back around, ‘Oh yeah, and I need to know where you got that rug in your room! That thing was so damn soft!’
Okay, I really got carried away with this but I had fun :))) (also i have never done shrooms lmao so this is literally just off of movies and books ive read)

Brodie’s parents were holding a dinner party tonight, so his basement was off limits for the group’s hang out. Allison wasn’t a huge fan of all of Abby’s friends but she was an honorary member of MAAN so she was usually forced to make an appearance. Don’t get Allison wrong, she likes to have fun. She likes to drink and smoke, just sometimes they can be a lot. Also, some of them were just full on assholes. Allison really had no idea why Abby was even friends with people like Press, Brodie, and Samantha. Tonight, the hangout spot was the Baker’s. The Baker parents were at Brodie’s parents’ dinner party and they were known to run late into the night so the house was safe for a couple of hours. Everyone was outside so the stench of the weed wouldn’t stick in the house. It was early spring in New England so it still got really chilly at night. Luckily the kids had been drinking for the past two hours, so they didn’t really feel it at this point, however, this was not the case for Allison. She was sipping on the same white claw for those two hours watching an “intense” game of beer pong. She made sure to ‘ooh and aah’ at the appropriate times so as to not bring attention to the fact that she would rather be anywhere else than on the Baker’s back patio freezing her ass off. She slowly turned around and tried to
sneak into the warm house. Max grabbed her by the waist ‘Hey, Ally! Where ya goin’? You’re gonna miss your sister beating Brodie’s ass at beer pong!’ Max was already very drunk. Allison knew this because of the smell of tequila on her breath and the way she screamed in her face louder than usual. So, she knew her answer really didn’t matter,
‘Just going pee. I drank so many of these,’ she shook her white claw, ‘I will be right back.’ Max agreed and gave her a big wet kiss on the cheek. Allison did actually have to go pee; she just also wanted to hide out in the warm house until the Bakers inevitably came home and busted the kids. Allison really didn’t understand how the others are let out of their houses with how much they get busted for partying, but hey that’s not any of her business.
After finding that the bathroom upstairs was occupied, Allison tried to distract her bladder by looking at all the photos and artwork on the walls of the hallway. Allison saw a glimpse of a really beautiful and colorful piece of artwork in what she assumed was Marcus’s room. She hadn’t seen him all night so she assumed that he was out with friends. The door to his room was open and Allison could not resist. She peeked her head in and what she found surprised her.
She had never been in Marcus’s room before, only Max’s when she and Abby came over. Allison has always seen Marcus by himself or with few friends. He doesn’t stand out and it doesn’t seem like he cares to. Also, after what happened to his friend the year before Allison thought she noticed a slight change in him. So, when she saw his walls full of large sprawling drawings, in color and in black and white, she was mesmerized. She knew he could draw well from being in a couple art classes with him, but she had never seen him express himself like this. She only ever saw the stupid projects made up by their teachers. This was different. She could tell that the art on his walls was full of emotion and passion.
The last person she ever wanted to hear spoke up behind her, ‘Hey’
She quickly turned around, ‘H-Hey Marcus!’
He questioned her and crossed his arms in front of his chest, ‘So, what’re you doing in my room?’
Allison was so embarrassed and when she’s embarrassed she doesn’t really have control over her mouth and body. Sometimes, in especially horrifying circumstances, she has actually blacked out and just gone on autopilot. ‘Nothing creepy like smelling your bed sheets or stealing your underwear. I’m not a creepy psycho, I swear.’ She laughed to try and soften the blow of those choice words that decided to come out of her mouth.
Marcus actually full on laughs, ‘I wasn’t gonna go there, but now I’m actually concerned’ He dramatically furrows his brow for a second then smiles when he can’t keep up the act.
Allison fiddles with her hair. She had never seen him smile like that before, ‘Okay, that came out completely horrible! I was actually on the way to the bathroom when I saw your artwork on your walls and I couldn’t resist coming in. True story, I am sorry, and please forgive me’
He nods, ‘Alright, I’ll forgive you. If you answer this question,’ He pauses and waits for Allison to agree. ‘Why aren’t you out in the backyard destroying your liver with MAAN and the rest of your friends?’
Allison shakes her head and holds three fingers up, ‘3 things. One: I have been petitioning a name change for years now and I keep on getting overruled.’ Marcus laughs again and she loves it. ‘Two: They are not my friends! Well, MAAN is but not the others…well, Hunter’s actually really nice, but y’know who I mean.’ Marcus nods in understanding. ‘Three: I just don’t want to. I don’t spend all my days counting down until the next party’, she shrugs, ‘But! If I say that I’ll get looked at as a freak or called a nerd or something’ Allison had never told anyone this. Ever. Not even her twin sister and she wasn’t sure why she was telling Marcus right now.
He smiled, ‘Who cares about those assholes,’ that made Allison laugh, ‘If you want, you can hide up here with me. I have Smash Bros.’
Allison beams, ‘Really!? That sounds great, thank you’ This isn’t the first time Marcus has seen Allison smile, since she is a generally cheerful person, but it’s the first time that it’s been just for him. He really liked that. ‘I call Kirby, though.’
He turns on the switch for them and looks back with confusion, ‘Kirby? Why Kirby?’
Allison answers him in a baby voice, ‘Because he’s just so cute I could die.’
Marcus laughs, ‘Sure, have Kirby. I don’t want you dying on me.’ Allison fiddles with her hair. She really didn’t think the night would end like this. Meanwhile, Marcus doesn’t think he’s laughed like this in awhile. He can’t wait for the next MAAN hang out.
Monday Morning…
It’s morning break, Marcus is sitting on the bean bags in Red with Silver. Together they’re going over the Chemistry lab that Marcus actually did finish. He doesn’t mind Chemistry. Silver is asking him to explain how he got the answer he did. Coming down the hallway he hears his sister exclaim a totally trivial reason why she’s going to die today along with Norah and Abby trying to comfort her. He’s ready to completely ignore MAAN as usual until he hears Allison.
Allison is a couple paces behind the rest of MAAN half listening to their conversation and half listening to a podcast until she sees Marcus. She can’t help but smile, ‘Hey Marcus’ she waves.
Marcus waves back, ‘Hey Allison’
The rest of MAAN turn back and all look at Allison. Max exclaims, 'Ally saying ‘Hi’ to Marcus and Marcus saying it back?! That’s just totally normal’ Before rounding the corner of the hallway Allison looks back over to Red where she finds Marcus already looking in her direction.

It was 8:30 in the morning and definitely too early to be doing any type of math. This was a common feeling among the students in curriculum 2 math. There was homework due today which Marcus did not even attempt to do last night. The teacher knew this and that was why he called on Marcus Baker to help him complete the problem they were going over. When Marcus did not know how to proceed in the problem the teacher turned it into some kind of lesson for the rest of the class that “if you don’t keep up with your homework you won’t have a strong foundation blah blah blah” To be honest Marcus tuned him out. What kind of teacher tries to humiliate a student and turn it into a teaching moment. Truly inspiring.
Allison, having not done the homework last night either, was secretly happy she was not the one called on and used as an example for the class but she knew the feeling. Her seat was diagonal to Marcus Baker. Their twin sisters have been best friends their whole lives, so by that association they knew each other. They had both been to each other's houses plenty of times and were friendly, but nothing beyond that. She turned and saw he looked very disinterested in what the teacher had to say about him not doing the homework last night. He had his head down and was doodling in his notebook.
A rolled up piece of paper rolled into his view. He picked it up and unraveled it ‘Look :)’ He scanned the classroom until he landed on Allison Littman’s desk. Her notebook was up and positioned in a way that he could see it. On the page was a very explicit caricature of the teacher. It was a great drawing, Marcus had to admit, then he remembered they did have art together. This was the first time he had seen her work and she was talented. He let out a laugh but tried to cover it by covering his throat. ‘Should you really be laughing right now Mr. Baker?’
He shook his head, ‘Sorry, sir.’ Allison turned around when the attention was off of Marcus. She gave him a wide smile. Marcus gave her one of his own along with a small salute.

Maybe Rooster had over done it at The Hard Deck tonight. He was feeling that last drink and was vaguely aware that he’d probably regret it in the morning.
Normally, he turned in early and would leave his fellow pilots at The Hard Deck to get a good night’s rest. But tonight they were celebrating. Rooster, Phoenix and Bob were able to successfully shoot Warlock down during a practice dogfight today. The other pilots had cheered for the trio when they landed earlier that afternoon. Rooster smiled as he remembered the triumphant high five you gave him. The best part was seeing Hangman’s nod of approval.
Now, as he walked back to his room, Rooster smiled at Phoenix and Bob. The three of them were the last to leave The Hard Deck that night and they remained quiet as they walked toward the Top Gun dormitories.
A small handful of pilots were recalled back to Top Gun for a brief detachment that no one was worried about. It would only be a week of training before the mission, so Rooster told himself that he would try and enjoy every moment of his friends’ time. It wouldn’t be long before everyone was shipped back to different corners of the world.
From down the hall, Rooster heard someone cursing. Judging by the way Phoenix and Bob straightened, they also heard it. The group tiptoed down the hall until they could poke their face around the corner. The dim lights cast eerie shadows along the hallway of doors. Rooster didn’t have time to think about the creepy hallways, though. Instad, his attention was immediately pulled to Hangman, who was leaning on the doorway of your room.
Hangman was speaking in a near whisper to someone inside the room, Rooster could only assume it was you. Rooster was suspicious by Hangman's loose pair of pants and a casual shirt. Maybe they were pj’s, but Rooster was more interested in the way Hangman was holding his bicep, a small scowl on the arrogant pilot’s face. Rooster guessed that he had been the one to curse just a moment ago. Had Hangman tried to worm his way into your room? Did you punch him for it? Rooster wished he could have been a fly on the wall to watch Hangman attempt to seduce you. Rooster would have punched Hangman, too.
Sure, you and Hangman were close but the endless teasing between the two of you hardly counted as flirting. If anything, Hangman would flirt with you but you would only toss insults back at him. It was one of the reasons Rooster liked you: the only person that could keep Hangman’s ego in check was you.
“Maybe we shouldn’t-” Bob began, but Phoenix shot him a glare that could only mean “shut up”.
Rooster rolled his eyes as he saw Hangman flash his award winning smile. You stepped out into the hall, your chest nearly flush against Hangman’s and Rooster waited for you to tell the pilot to politely fuck off. But Rooster almost fell over when he saw you grab a fistfull of Hangman’s shirt and pull him in for a kiss. With too much familiarity for Rooster’s comfort, Hangman wrapped an arm around your waist and his other hand slid into your hair.
The kiss was over as soon as it began. You pulled away and pushed Hangman toward his own room. Hangman winked over his shoulder at you before you shut your own door.
The feeling of whiplash was beginning to settle over Rooster. Phoenix waited until Hangman’s door was closed before breaking the silence.
“I must be dreaming,” she muttered.
“I know I’m drunk…” Rooster said, running a hand over his face, “but I’m not that drunk.”
The hangover that Rooster had the next morning was nothing compared to the confusion he felt while watching you and Hangman. He found himself reading into every little inside joke the two of you shared or the way you two would argue with one another. And Rooster knew he wasn’t the only one. Phoenix had her eyes laser focused on you while you traded snide remarks with Hangman.
The two of you sat next to one another nearly every day. This morning was no exception. Rooster assumed that you two were friendly because you were stationed together. Being near one another for a couple of years could do that to a pair, despite one of them was as insufferable as Lieutenant Jake Seresin. But even being stuck on a remote island with Hangman wouldn’t lead to… what was this? Romance? A crush?
“They touched hands during Warlock’s lecture,” Phoenix whispered over lunch. Rooster and Bob leaned in and tried to talk between bites.
“-when Hangman fixed her flight uniform?” Rooster finished for Phoenix. She nodded, a grin on her face.
“They were just being friendly,” Bob said, rolling his eyes. “They’re not doing anything illegal. What if they just… I don’t know… what if we don’t know what we saw?” Bob looked between Phoenix and Rooster. No one notice you or Hangman approach.
“What did you see,” you asked sweetly. Phoenix and Rooster nearly jumped out of their skin when you took a seat at their lunch table. Hangman took a seat next to you and the two of you looked around at the table. Bob looked down at his food.
“Is everything okay?” You didn’t know what was happening but you knew enough to tell that something was happening.
“Do you fly this afternoon?” Bob asked, finally breaking the silence.
“Yep,” you answered, “I’m going up with Fanboy and Coyote.”
The rest of the lunch passed amicably. However, that didn’t stop you from catching strange glances from your friends. You couldn’t tell if Hangman noticed, but you tried to push the thought out of your mind. You told yourself that you should focus on the coming dogfight.
Hangman also notice that the others were acting strange but he chose to bring it up later. He didn’t want to distract you from your job. And Hangman knew that your head would be stuck on the coming dogfight. You didn’t need any drama.
But after lunch, you said goodbye to everyone and left for the tarmac. Coyote and Fanboy laughed with you as you strolled down the hallway. Hangman smiled at the sound. He knew that Coyote and Fanboy had your back.
Hangman left the lunch room and made a few jokes with some of his fellow pilots as they all walked to the rec room. Rooster, Phoenix, and Bob were walking with him and were good company.
Passively, the group listened to your dogfight over the radio while Rooster and Bob played a game of foo’s ball. Bob was losing, but Hangman and Phoenix cheered him on. Even with one ear on the radio, Hangman was able to give Bob a couple of tips.
“Hangman, I thought you were on my side!” Rooster said as he almost let Bob score a point.
“Since, uh, when?” Hangman crossed his arms and smiled at Rooster. It was enough of a distraction for Bob to score a point. Hangman gave Bob a high five and Phoenix clapped.
“You’re off your game today, Rooster,” Hangman said with too much glee, “in fact you’ve been acting weird all day.”
“What do you mean?” Rooster looked up, meeting Hangman’s eyes.
“Did they put something in the water yesterday at The Hard Deck?” Hangman looked between Rooster, Phoenix, and Bob. “Because the three of you have been… off all day.”
“We’re fine,” Rooster said with a shrug. His eyes slid to the floor and Hangman scoffed at them. Phoenix and Bob exchanged a look and Hangman almost laughed at how guilty the group seemed.
“What is it?” Hangman was distantly aware of your dogfight coming to an end. He heard the missile lock tone beep over the radio and he heard you and Coyote begin the landing procedure. Hangman threw his hands up at the ridiculous silence the group was giving him. Not even Rooster was rising to the challenge.
“Do you have a thing for y/n?” Phoenix said, her words coming out too fast. Rooster’s head shot up and Bob pressed his lips into a tight line. Hangman blinked at Phoenix. Some of the other pilots in the rec room turned their attention towards the group. Hangman let out a laugh.
“Y/n?” Hangman looked around at the people that were listening. “I mean, she’s fine, she’s cute, I think-”
“Are you blushing, Bagman?” Rooster interrupted. A smile widened on Rooster’s face as Hangman spluttered to silence. The blonde pilot ran a hand through his hair.
“No,” Hangman finally said, “I mean, I do like her. But I’m not going to do anything about it.” Hangman set his jaw and looked at Rooster, who had the biggest smile on his face.
“Oh, but Hangman,” Phoenix said with false sweetness, “what were you doing by y/n’s room last night if you’re not going to do anything about it.” Rooster wanted to laugh when he saw Hangman’s face pale. The arrogant pilot froze where he stood, eyes locked with Phoenix’s. Phoenix, like Rooster, was grinning like a mad woman.
“You calling me a liar?” Hangman said, a corner of his lips turning up. He heard footsteps down the hall and knew he needed to make a decision before you came back.
“I wasn’t that drunk last night,” Rooster added, “I know what I saw. Are you trying to tell me it was someone else outside of y/n’s room last night?”
“I mean,” Hangman said slowly, “I was safe in my room all night.” As if Hangman planned it, you strolled into the room, followed by Coyote and Fanboy. The three of you still wore your flight suits and smelled like sweat and oil. You took one look at everyone in the room and knew something was happening.
“But if there was someone outside of her room last night,” Hangman said, standing beside you, “I’d have to show him who she belongs to.” Rooster’s mouth fell open as he watched Hangman wrap a large hand around your throat. He used his thumb to tilt your head toward his and planted a swaying kiss against your lips.
After a shocked moment of silence, Coyote let out a whistle. Hangman pulled back from you and Rooster could see the blush on both you and Hangman.
“They know,” Hangman said to you before you could say anything.
“Did Bob tell them?” You turned your head toward Bob who mutely opened and closed his mouth as he fished for words. Phoenix punched Bob’s arm.
“You knew?!” She glared at Bob who rubbed his sore arm.
“I mean, I saw them once-” Bob tried to explain before Phoenix tried to punch him again. The room erupted in gossip and accusations. You and Hangman stayed quiet as the others talked over one another.
“Just wait until they find out how long we’ve been together,” Hangman said, his lips against your ear. Your toes curled and you leaned into him. You kissed him again and enjoyed the chaos around the room. It felt good to kiss him so openly.
"Wait until I tell them you're addicted to watching Love is Blind." You raised an eyebrow at Hangman.
"We can finish the season tonight, right," Hangman asked without shame. You rolled your eyes.
"As long as we aren't up as late as we were last night," you said. Hangman only laughed and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
Maybe it was good that the others finally knew.

A/N: Here it is! The Downton x Band of Brothers fic! So this first chapter is entirely Downton, a few months before the US is even in the war. This chapter establishes the characters from the Crawley side of things. But not to worry, our Easy faves will be appearing in the next chapter!

Chapter 1 here we go!!!
It shouldn’t have felt as ridiculous as it did. At least, that’s what George told himself. Lots of people spoke to their loved ones at the grave. It was the whole point of a graveyard, wasn’t it? Even so, the longer he stood and stared at that headstone engraved with “Matthew Reginald Crawley” the more he felt like a fool.
“I feel stupid,” he admitted, speaking for the first time in almost half an hour. “Which is allowed, I suppose, when addressing one’s family.”
He took a deep breath, willing a sense of connection to enter. But how could he feel connected to a man he’d never met?
“I am in need of some courage,” he forced himself to say. “You see, I’ve got to tell Mother what I’ve done, and I’m afraid you’d be the only person who could understand the position I’m in. After all, you went to war when you were the last heir too.”
He paused for a beat.
“I’m sure you can also recognize how much harder I’ve got it than you did,” he said. “You and Mother weren’t even a couple when you went to war, and I…” he trailed off. “I’m all she has left of you.”
