Today, the Supreme Court ruled that schools can ban transgender girls from playing on girls' sports teams. No exceptions, no individual case by case fairness, just a blanket line based on biology at birth. For a kids and tenaggers sports aren't just sports. They're friendships, belonging, a reason to show up to school, a place where you get to be seen as who you are.
Today that door closes for thousands of young people across 27+ states. Imagine being told at 11, at 14, at 16 that the team you love, the teammates who became your friends, the sport you've trained in for years, isn't yours anymore. Not because of anything you did. Because of who you are.
Trans youth already face higher rates of isolation, anxiety, and self-harm than their peers. Pulling them out of one of the few spaces where they could just be a kid playing a sport doesn't make anyone safer, it just makes them more alone.
They didn't ask for this fight. They just wanted to run, to play, to belong.
