Old Basque Calendar
See how many names the months have in the different Basque dialects! Their names come from nature instead of gods (as the Roman calendar) and their meanings are so beautiful, you have no idea. Enjoy!!
PS. Fantasy writers of Tumblr, these may inspire you… We won’t tell anyone ^_~.
January: Urtarrila (the acuatic month) Ilbeltza / Beltzila (the black month) Izotzila (the month of ice) February: Otsaila (the month of wolves) Zezeila (the month of bulls) Barantaila March: Martxoa - Martia (Latin origin) Ostaroa (the season of lulls) Epaila (the month of prunings) April: Apirila / Apiribila (Latin origin) Opaila / Opea (the month of offerings) Jorraila (the month of hoeing) May: Maiatza (Latin origin) Loraila (the month of flowers) Ostoila / Orrila (the month of leaves) June: Ekaina (the sun on top) Bagila (the lazy month) Garagarrila (the month of barley) Arramaiatza (May again) Errearoa (the season of fires) July: Uztaila (the month of harvest) Garagarrila (the month of barley) Garila (the month of reeds) August: Abuztua / Aguztua (Latin origin) Agorrila (the dry month) Dagonila September: Iraila (the month of ferns) Agorra (drought) Setemere (Latin origin) Buruila (the month of ears) Garoila (the month of dew) October: Urria / Urrieta (the month of water) Lastaila (the month of hay) Bildila (the month of harvest) November: Azaroa / Azila (the season of cabbages) Zemendia Gorotzila (the month of manure) December: Abendua (Advent) Gabonila (the month of Christmas) Negila (the month of winter) Lotazila (the month of hibernation)

Building Up: Arctic Tools and Weapons Pt. 2
Ivory Lamellar Armor
Ivory lamellar armor was worn by Arctic peoples such as Inuit, Inupiat, and Chukchi during times of war. The ivory tiles were made from walrus bone, the straps were made of leather from a seal or walrus, and the strings weaving through the tiles were made from animal sinew.
Ice Picks
Also known as tooq in Greenlandic. As its English name implies, ice picks were used by Arctic peoples to pick at or break ice. The handles were typically made of driftwood, the picks were made of bone, and the ties were made of sinew or gut.
Bolas
Also called qilumitautit in some Inuit languages. Bolas are a type of throwing weapon comprised of weights on the ends of interconnected cords. Traditionally, Inuit bolas (qilumitautit) are made from carved bones for the weights and animal sinew for the cords. They’re used to to hunt birds, fouling the birds in air with the lines of the bola.

Devon's Arc in Maul Shadow Lord
I think what makes Devon’s arc in Maul: Shadow Lord so compelling is that it isn’t about temptation. It’s about disillusionment.
Her master isn’t wrong. He’s trying to protect her the only way he knows how, clinging to the Jedi teachings because they are the last stable thing he has left. If he lets that go, if he admits the Jedi failed, that they were outplayed by Sidious, then everything he is collapses with it. For him, holding onto those beliefs is survival.
But what sustains him is exactly what’s failing Devon.
Because Devon isn’t just trying to survive-she’s trying to understand. Her entire world has been shattered, and she needs a reason why. And her master can’t give her that. Not because he doesn’t care, but because the truth is too painful to face.
So where he offers comfort, she feels avoidance.
And that’s where Maul becomes so dangerous.
Because Maul doesn’t deny what happened. He leans into it. He validates Devon’s doubt, her anger, her sense that something is deeply wrong. He offers a worldview that explains her pain: the Jedi failed, the system betrayed them, and survival without purpose is not enough. And more than that, he offers certainty.
That’s the real pull. Not power, but clarity.
Both Devon and Maul understand the same truth: they cannot defeat the Empire alone. But that truth can lead down two very different paths one rooted in trust and collective hope, the other in control and calculated alliance.
Devon is standing right at that crossroads.
And what makes it so tragic is that if she steps toward Maul, it won’t feel like a fall. It will feel like the only logical answer left.
Because in the end, this isn’t a story about choosing between right and wrong—it’s about what happens when the thing you believed was right no longer makes sense, and someone else is finally willing to tell you why.
Crying over how Devon’s childhood was so stolen by war that she doesn’t even know popular sports :(
New ship unlocked: awkward teenagers in danger and on opposing sides of politics
Also not Maul in the background like a disapproving father
If you dig deep enough a lot of conspiracy theories come around to the concept of a lost age of humanity. An alternate neolithic era, where Atlantean and Lemurian societies invented no physical technology beyond clay and knapped flint, but had advanced spiritual technology, like vast intercontinental teleporter networks made of monks mediating over crystals. Unfortunately, this type of shit is bad ass.
That's the thing. It is badass. And that’s why prehistoric fantasy used to be a major genre. Then everyone started ripping off Middle Earth (which ironically was a prehistoric fantasy setting complete with an Atlantis), and all the passion for this type of shit was channeled into conspiracy crank.

Equus ferus
Mammoth. I can see the Frazetta influence in this one, especially evident in the mountains.
Avatar World Tour: Kyoshi Island Pt. 2
It totally slipped my mind that Book 2 also had an episode that prominently featured Kyoshi Island! Lets just write this off as us taking an extended stay on the island.
This time around, we get to admire Kyoshi’s shrine, as well as the inside of the KW’s dojo. Have some more observations:
In Part 1, I compared Kyoshi Island to Hokkaido, stating that both are very mountainous places. The aerial shot of KI confirms this for me as its terrain is just like Hokkaido’s.
I love how the Kyoshi Warrior Dojo is this grand cultural center, while the actual Avatar Kyoshi Shrine is much more modest by comparison. It really fits with the impression we get of Avatar Kyoshi in the show: Someone who values justice and decisive action above all, while disdaining excessive pride.
Like what I’m doing? Tips always appreciated, never expected. ^_^

Maul Shadow Lord wishlist:
Satine is significant in some way. PLEASE, I’ll take a fucking namedrop at this point, just let her have some impact on the story. We know that Maul’s still dealing with his Mandalorians since Rook Kast is in the trailer, and Rebels makes it clear that he still has some kind of lasting feelings wrt her, so it makes perfect sense. The Satine fans have been starving for years, give them something
The Inquisitors are at least somewhat threatening and semi-relevant, and the parallels between their situation and Maul’s are at least acknowledged. Seriously they could be perfect foils for Maul if the show actually lets them be real antagonists
Explanation of Marrok’s whole deal. How did he get reanimated? Why did that happen? I think it would be very hard to have Maul be the one who kills him, because 1). I don’t believe he has the knowledge to do Nightsister reanimation shit with him that sticks for 20+ years and 2). I see no reason why he would possibly want to do that. I’m wondering if his inclusion means that Elsbeth is going to appear at some point, which I’m very skeptical about
Backstory about the whole Black Sun thing from the end of Solo, because that’s been confusing for 9 years now. Also Qi’ra please bring back Qi’ra
Some kind of reference or foreshadowing to the Malachor Depression Hole. I DESPERATELY want this to just loom in the background of the show’s narrative. Anytime he does or says something dramatic about shattering the Empire I need the show to remind us that this will all end up with Malachor Depression Hole
Savage flashback(s). I’m very hopeful about this one because because the trailer does show Maul working with other Nightbrothers, and I feel like that’ll naturally bring up some Savage feelings. Please let Savage haunt the narrative, he’s the only character Maul has ever seemed to love (in the twisted, fucked-up way Maul knew how to love) and that should be so vital to his story
this shot slays so hard
