The sky is so interesting, it kinda does its own thing everyday. It's the like the most consistent artist of all time. Actually, it's a filmmaker. It paints with light. As all great filmmakers do. And it is also a mosaic of time, as Tarkovsky said, film is the mosaic of time. And film is what it becomes when light hits it. And so are the clouds. When light hits them, they become a mosaic of time, they become a film. And it's also about the relationship of time and objects, how the object, the cloud, moves with the time. And it's less of the film which sculpts time, and more of the film which lets it be. Like the Empire film by Andy Warhol.

Back in January, when I decided to remove all aspects of the grind lifestyle from my life, I did so in an attempt to try something new. I was tired of it, tired of failing, tired of feeling shitty. So I decided to free myself from it and liberate myself through art.

There is a difference between freeing oneself and liberating oneself. My attempt to free myself was to get rid of the routine and structure of my life. My attempt to liberate myself was to fill the void left by that lack of structure with art: cinema, music, and books.

I succeeded brilliantly at the former. I started sleeping at odd times, stopped exercising entirely, and quit forcing myself to study. But at the same time, I failed at the latter.

Even though I've watched more films this year than in any other year (and it's only July), and I've discovered so many musical artists and become a diehard Magnetic Fields fan, I struggled in the one medium I wanted to be most familiar with: literature.

And by struggle, I mean I didn't even try. It's fair to say there have been months this year where I didn't read a single piece of literature. Why? I don't know. Actually, I do know. And it's the reason I have decided to quit the drifter lifestyle.

I have forgotten how to venture outside of my comfort zone. My definition of a "drifter" was wrong. A drifter is someone who ventures outside, someone who actually drifts. Instead, I just bunkered down on things that gave me pleasure inside my beautiful comfort zone, while shutting out anything outside it. Number one on that list? Routine.

How will I survive? How will I end up not killing myself? I don't want to kill myself, I really don't. But I have a very singular and stubborn vision of what my life would be where I won't end up killing myself. And I can't imagine living any other way,

And if I can't function and excel in school I'll not be able to achieve the singular vision of my life. And I'll end up killing myself.
