         “I said nice hair,” he repeats, though it lacks the sarcasm it had the first time he said it. Jeez, this guy might actually think he’s getting a compliment. “You got some kinda look you’re going for?”

       Always the hair. It never fails. Which is why it gets a small eye roll and a short lived sigh from him.  “Thanks.”  the word drips with enough sarcasm to choke a horse, really.  “No I am just trying to look uninterested so people with a clear lack of creative sarcasm don’t talk to me.”

               ❝ Magic words, kid. ❞

          “Will you just help me.”

             “Work is work, I guess.”   She gives a small smile. Not like she can begrudge him disappearing when he’s got the job he has. Emma shrugs and makes an attempt of relaxing - rolling her shoulders and running a hand through her hair. She still worries for him but there’s nothing to be done, right? Emma’s just thankful there’s nothing else that might bother him. Nothing from Augustus in a while. Small blessings.  “How’s Wanda?”

        “She is well.”  Like he’d really know all that well honestly. He hasn’t been talking much to her either. She doesn’t know the details of it all. What he’s done. He’s hoping she hasn’t invaded his rule of ‘no peeking into my head’ to see what’s up with her brother. The only one who knows is Sam and she swore an oath not to say a thing to anyone.   “Working hard... just like me.”
