I want to become an Grown Up

Every year my Mother in Law gets me the crappiest gifts. It’s like after 8 years she refused to get to know me? Receiving gifts is only nice for me if I feel seen. I don’t get joy from just getting gifts.

Shitty, I know. I’d rather not get anything at all than get something shitty. I’ve been in a situation where I got money and others got presents, fine with me.

Well, MIL decided her feminine children needed the same gifts this year. So I got a makeup box too small for my collection but too big to travel with, a large jewelry thingy (I don’t even wear my wedding ring), AN AIR PURIFIER, and I honestly blacked out at some point and haven’t looked at the stuff she got us again.

She bought me, her daughter, and her other daughter in law the same stuff. Nothing personal, nothing thoughtful, just the same stuff.

Yall. I’d be happier if she hadn’t asked me for a list and I put time, energy, and thought into it. I picked reasonably priced things I wanted, gave specific instructions on where the buy/who to get help from, and gave a few options of different things I wanted.

She didn’t buy a DAMN thing from it. I wanted DnD and Puzzle stuff. I will repeat that. I wanted Dungeons and Dragons and Puzzles.

The air purifier feels like a bitch slap.
