Susan eyed the piece with mild concern before she took it between her thumb and forefinger. She’d heard Alice talk about the mushroom before, and she figured it’d be a little rude to turn it down, especially after it was broken just for her. Even if she was a little unsure.
She made certain to shoot Alice one more skeptical look as she ate what she was offered. And she– oh, geez, she felt weird.
Within a moment the trees were rocketing up past Susan’s head, the ground rushing to meet her. It didn’t quite feel like falling, but it didn’t feel good, at all. As quickly as it had started, her descent halted, just more than five feet from the forest floor. And eye-to-eye with Alice.
“What!” Of all the expletives that came to mind, only that reached her lips. She hadn’t expected that to work, she hadn’t expected it to do anything! And from her new vantage point, the now looming forest did nothing to ease her.
“Isn’t it great?” Alice giggles, shrugging slightly at the other. “Five feet high is such a lovely height to be.” She brushes off her skirt, and adjusts the sword upon her belt, “Don’t worry, Susan, the effects will wear off in time.”
Another small laugh, as she begins to walk, “Follow me!” She grins, “I’ve got to show you around,” Alice could certainly think of plenty places to take Susan. But the first stop would have to be the Hatter’s for tea, it was almost tea time after all. And Alice was always invited, and she would invite Susan, and they’d have a wonderful unbirthday, Alice was sure of it!
“Just mind your step, wouldn’t want to step on the mome raths, after all.” Alice gestures to the ground, small furry pig like creatures run past them, “Much easier to walk around when you’re my height, much less dangerous for others, more dangerous for you--Luckily, you have me though.”
