At one of the various family functions the month of May was packed with, a family member's friend told me it's a teacher's job to expand kids vocabulary and parents don't matter as much. Do you talk to your kid, like ever? Do you ever correct them like "a bunk bed is two beds and a loft bed like yours has something else underneath?" Or maybe "that's a good word for things, but it's rude to say about people; let's say it differently." Or even just answering "what is a freethrow?" while watching basketball or whatever sport.
I held my tongue a little, but I got the impression that people who can afford a live-in nanny really don't spend enough time with their kids. Partly from what the adult said and partly from the kid's reaction when my bean ran up to me, held my hand until I finished what I was saying to another adult, and then asked like 7 questions rapid fire to settle a kid dispute about if a Nintendo Switch is a comouter, including one I had to look up the answer to, and I just answered them all.
"You shouldn't indulge interruptions like that, they need to learn manners."
Bitch, what do you think her holding my free hand and waiting was?
You have?? A CHILD??? Wow thats so cool
Sweetie, according to playground math I'm an ancient being old enough to have seen the Instagram post announcing that the Magna Carta was signed. (Don't think about it too hard, the kid sure didn't. ) I have fanfictions posted on the net old enough to own a car and pay a mortgage.
I consider it admirable that you are responsible enough to take responsibility for the lives of one or more tiny people. I hope your fanfictions' car and mortgage are doing well
I mean, I made this particular chaos entity entirely on purpose and after a lot of tears and pain. It's the least I can do to make sure the bean doesn't grow up into an asshole or a spoiled brat. The world has enough of those.
This is what I mean. Not a lot of parents think like this. I am very lucky to be born to parents who do think like this despite the societal expectations in my country both for parents and children. From what little I have heard, I know that you are trying your best to be a good parent and I hope your kids appreciate that one day. Your quality of wanting your kids to be the best they can and trying to be a good parent is what I consider admirable. I sincerely hope I am not wrong about this.
Sorry for the long tangent, i think i got a little too deep there, hope you dont take offense π

A lot of people think cdn means content distribution network. It akshually stands for Cat Distribution Network
I like the idea of a Vulcan character who constantly does very reckless things so her human crewmates think she's strange but then she always has a logical explanation she delivers with absolute confidence.
"No, it was perfectly logical for me to jump out of the shuttle at that time. I had a breathing apparatus, and I was certain I could seal the subspace rift by hand before the Romulans opened fire. This was the only solution that would result in zero casualties. I might have died, but giving up is illogical."
She's known as one of the most fearless members of the crew.
Other Vulcans try not to acknowledge her.
"I eliminated all the threats with ruthless efficiency. To do any less would be illogical."
An absolute menace.

ART BE UPON YE~
its probably a normal sign for the economy that all of my adulthood fantasies are like "imagine having your own kitchen living room and bathroom to decorate" "what if i could get on a train" "maybe one day i could purchase a sturdy pair of shoes" "i should save and invest in a single bicycle"
Scientists invented a fake disease. AI told people it was real: Nature.com
I'm a bit frightened for the time when someone less ethical than the person that did this decides to repeat the experiment but leave out the part where they come in later and announce that it was fake and people wind up diagnosed with the fake condition and all kinds of wacky hi jinks ensues.

Characters are a narrative device that intentionally mimics a human (or other "person" of some kind) for a reason in service of a story. They have more in common with the chair they sit on than you.
