White sparks lit up the skies and the earth shook. It was startling to say the least, I cried out in fear. I was stuck outside, I don’t know how to get in. They won’t let me in. I yelled as loud as I could, at the top of my lungs. I was just a kid, a baby, how could they leave me here to die?
I want to go inside, please let me inside. I can’t scare off the explosions with my yelling. Not like I could those strange people or beasts. I couldn’t protect them so they threw me out. I just want to go inside. The world is ending and I’m stuck outside.
The sparks are so high in the sky I can barely look up to see them. Different shades of light that seem to plummet right towards me. Tonight may very well be the day I die and I haven’t even lived for two years.
Maybe if I yell some more the scary explosions will go away.
The door opened behind me at some point, I don’t know when. I turned and rushed inside, hiding behind my person’s legs to stare out at the world I’ve only seen pieces of. It was terrifying but I survived the explosions like on that big screen showing all those brave people.
“I know, I know. They do this to you every year, Dots.” My person tells me. “It’s rude knowing you live here.”
I’m picked up and the moment my feet leave the ground, I bury my face into her neck. I’m gonna chew her sock later as payback for making me go outside before the explosions came.
