After discovering she was pregnant after a one-night stand with an American on vacation, Farah binti Wan moved from her home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to her aunt’s home in Guildford, England. Her aunt, who was much more accepting of Farah’s situation than her parents, helped the 20-year-old raise her baby boy, Archer bin Farah. Archer’s birth-given surname, bin Farah, means “son of Farah.” In Malaysia, surnames are determined by the baby’s sex and the name of the baby’s father. Since Archer’s father was not going to involved in his life at all, Farah made a controversial decision and gave him her own name.
Farah got a job as a housecleaner and took great pride in her work. She and Archer struggled financially, but they were happy overall. When Archer was eight years old, his mom began dating a man named Pete St. Clair. Archer bonded with Pete and his son, Patrick, very quickly. Farah and Pete dated for three years before getting married. When they got married, Farah and Archer both changed their last names to St. Clair.
Archer attended the University of Surrey and got his bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science. In his third year, he met Haley Reynolds, an American girl who was studying abroad for the semester. After she left England, the two kept in touch through social media and entered into a long-distance relationship. Archer decided to pursue his medical degree in the states so he and Haley could be together. He immigrated to the United States in June 2009, and began attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York to pursue a doctorate in Forensic Pathology.
In February 2013, Haley gave birth to their first and only child, Nicholas St. Clair. The couple was over-the-moon to have a child together and worked hard to give him a good life. However, tragedy struck in 2017 when Nicky was diagnosed with brain cancer. After a three-year battle, Nicky passed away in June 2020. Haley and Archer tried to stay together, but the emotional toll of losing a child tore the couple apart, and they parted ways in May 2021. Needing a change of scenery, Archer decided he needed a change in scenery and began looking for jobs in other cities and states. He came across an ad, and ended up applying to and being accepted for a position at the County Medical Examiner’s Office. He moved to Barton Point in July 2021, seeking a new start away from all of the pain.
