An incredibly well preserved bronze Persian arrowhead!

The Persians employed several types of arrowheads, the most common of which in our region (Israel et al) would be of the Scytho-Iranian variety (trilobate arrows usually), which they borrowed from the Scythians. This one however is pretty rare to find!

I’m getting into early history as a hobby and it’s like damn the amount of things the romans fucked up is crazy. Like people harp on the British for driving animals to extinction (deservedly) but the Romans just woke up and were like let’s completely wipe out a species in this area if not completely for gladiator fights

That's no early history! See: ancient Egyptians who practically emptied modern day Jordan and Israel (and entire sections of Lebanon) from trees because they wanted the Big WoodTM

Shinyass gold! Judging by the looks of it, this was probably a signet ring with an attached stamp that could spin around on golden or gold plated hinges. Pretty cool and rare find!

The coin depicts goddess Athena on one side, wearing her helmet, and her owl on the other side, next to the Greek inscription ΑΘΕ, an abbreviation of ΑΘΗΝΑΙΩΝ, which roughly means "of the Athenians". Its a tetradrachm type of coin, which signifies its material (silver), size (lorge) and weight (thicc ass coin). These coins were basically the dollar of the 5th to 4th centuries BC, and their value was high.

In Israel and other regions outside of the main Hellenic Empire (and other Empires) these coins are often found in halves or chipped, because locals would split them into multiple bits to divide their value, a la if, for example, one coin is worth 100 chickens, then half a coin will be worth 50, etc. This practice was widespread outside of the big Empires because un-Empire'd ppl didnt quite get the idea of why this piece of silver is worth specifically 100 chickens; physical money wasnt very popular in the region at the time, and these coins pretty much signal one of the first attempts of implementing this kind of system here. Hence, many of them are found chipped, halved and kind of fucked up, their state being the result of the local ppls attempts of making them more convenient to use (and to sell some extra bits of silver). This one is truly special because of its great state of preservation AND the fact that nobody tried to split it in half lmao
