The Unexpected Visitor

Teleporting in the meat suit was still very…unpleasant. Dieter missed the accuracy and ease of being able to see all the colourful strands..but it was worth the trouble to visit James. He arrived in his old quarters that he had recently reclaimed as a safe destination to teleport into. Exiting, he made his way through the hallways in search of his lover. His stroll came to an abrupt halt as he spotted it, face falling and the human stomach turning in fear. “Faen!” The demon murmured under his breath as he prepared to run if necessary.

Gabriel had hardly been expecting any sort of demonic presence in the Sanctuary. She knew all were welcome here, but demons tended to avoid places like this, no matter how welcoming they might be. She sighed and just rolled her eyes at his exclamation. ❝ Relax, I am not here to harm you. Actually...it wasn’t you I was seeking at all. This is...a surprise to say the least. ❞

If only it felt that way to those left behind. But finally, she offered a tight smile. “Thank you - that is comforting. But… might I ask how you can be so sure?”

“I...it’s a bit complicated, but I guess the simple way of putting it is that I used to be one of them. I was there when your people arrived. They are a warm bunch, full of joy and laughter. They miss those they left behind, but they are at peace now.”
