Hello lovely people! I'm Ara, 21, She/Her. I'm using this blog for writing practice and a little bit of self-indulgence.
I'm currently writing for Date Everything only, as that is the thing currently occupying my every thought, and I might as well make use of my many ideas.
My main focus as it stands is my Selective Mutism series, I started writing it purely out of self indulgence, and self-comfort. Seeing the positive reception to it and knowing there are people out there like me with whom it resonates is really motivating, so I don't see that one stopping any time soon.
For the sake of maintaining writing as a fun hobby and not an obligation, I'm going to close requests for the time being as I don't want to disappoint anyone if I can't fulfill them to a high standard or get too burned out to continue.

Date Everything characters with a player who has selective mutism Part 7
It's been a while, sorry for the hiatus, I didn't forget about this blog, promise! Writers block is a heck of a thing, but I'm back now and glad of the reminder of how comforting writing this series is. So Here! Eat up!
Coaches you on meeting new people and holding conversations, it's kind of his forte after all.
Incredibly patient, not even expecting you to speak at first. He takes his time with you, slowly coaxing you into using your voice more.
Hey, you're a great listener! That's an excellent quality to have. Now you just gotta build the courage to put yourself out there. Get involved.
No judgement, only a warm smile and smooth encouragement as you gradually grow your confidence (around him at least).
Doesn't rush you into learning pick up tactics: he can see that you're initially more focused on making friends. Perfect! He loves that!
So much constructive feedback and praise at the end of every conversation you have with him. Whether you speak out loud or use some other form of communication, he'll be pleased either way (communication is communication)
Genuinely proud and excited when you ask him questions, keeping the conversation flowing on your own. It means a lot to him that you're taking his advice to heart and pushing yourself to improve.
He loves deep and introspective conversation. So when you finally open up to him about why you're so quiet, he feels he's unlocked something meaningful.
You're met with acceptance and a deep respect for the fact that you aren't just settling in the silence, you're actively trying to overcome it.
He's also honored that you chose to turn to him for guidance. Although there is a part of him that feels like a hypocrite. After giving so much advice about connecting with others, it took this for him to realize he'd been too distracted trying to impress you to actually find out anything about who you are inside.
After that, he dedicates himself to truly getting to know you beyond the barriers you'd put up.
When you interact with others around the house he might not always speak for you (unless you really don't feel up to it), but he will cheer you on from the sidelines.
He believes in you and knows that you won't improve if someone else does the work for you.
Fantina
Oh. My. God. You have no idea how much it means to have your silence directed towards her!
Don't worry about explaining yourself, she already knows everything. You don't need to be anxious around her, promise.
Look, she even has a special personalized notepad in preparation for this exact scenario. It's your favorite color and everything! She would be honored if you'd use it to talk to her. If you do it becomes her prized possession. (And don't even get me started on what happens if you actually speak to her).
Over time her obsessiveness becomes clear and you decide it's time to set boundaries.
Easier said than done. Confrontation is one of your worst nightmares and your inability to speak up for yourself has already let this go on for too long.
You write her a letter expressing your concerns and hand it to her at the end of a fan club meeting.
At first she's conflicted. She's been nothing but accommodating and understanding of you, are you really taking that for granted?
Conversely, she knows how scary things like this can be for you and recognizes the courage it took for you to approach her with your honest feelings.
She decides to take your words into consideration.
It takes some time, and a lot of introspection on both sides, but eventually you find a happy medium for your relationship.
You encourage her to speak to you about herself; you've always preferred listening over talking.
She discovers a whole new appreciation for you as a real person and not just a concept of one.
Becomes your cheerleader in all social situations, you've never known support like that which she offers.
She celebrates you at the end of every conversation. Every word you say is an achievement in her eyes.
And you make sure to give her due praise too, after all you couldn't do it without her by your side.
Rainey
Don't worry your sweet little head about a thing. Just listen to the music play, feel the rhythm in your bones and let your body do the talking.
And don't be scared about looking silly either: it's just you two here, no ones watching. Besides, silly is her favorite flavor. A little bit of silly never hurt nobody.
She's a bit of a chatterbox and appreciates having someone who'll listen without judgement.
Loves the way you giggle when she drags you up to dance with her. That little hint of your voice makes her feel warm inside.
There's a lack of judgement in your relationship that makes everything easier when you're together.
Whether you feel like speaking, writing, or just quietly listening, your presence is always welcome.
The fact that you stick around despite her loose screws, and despite your own mental struggles means a lot. You show her understanding, and offer assistance without being patronizing or treating her like she's broken. She wants to do the same for you.
Builds you up whenever you speak to her, and others. You know you'll always have someone on your side as long as she's around.
She's a bit protective of you, having experienced how judgmental others can be when someone's different from them.
Not afraid to speak up for you if something makes you uncomfortable, and has no qualms removing you from situations if she notices you getting overwhelmed.
You make her feel steady, even if you get her heart racing, and that's an incredibly valuable thing.
Bathsheba
She strikes me as the type of extrovert who adopts introverts. Maybe at first it's to boost her ego, but over time she develops a genuine fondness for you.
Treats you a bit like a project (it's very much an Elphaba/Glinda situation).
It takes her a while to understand how you're able to have such an impact on everyone around the house without even talking. How does one command attention and adoration without raising their voice?
She makes it seem that she's the one helping you get out there and make friends, when really it's the other way around. She's just using your own advice to kickstart interactions and then pulling you into the fray.
Introduces you to all of her new 'friends' and gets a real kick out of it when you actually speak up around them. She believes it's all thanks to her; you don't have it in you to tell her you know all these people/objects already.
Loves the sound of her own voice, which makes her another excellent addition to the 'yapper x listener dynamic' club.
She lives for gossip, even more so when she's the one who gets to share it. Especially to such an attentive listener. She has an abundance of opinions that just have to be heard, so your audience is valuable.
If you ever start feeling overwhelmed and need to wind down away from everyone else, there's no better escape than a warm bath with your favorite princess. She's a big advocate for self care, so she will pamper you like royalty (as long as you return the favor).
Has a hard time shutting up, and understands that you might need to be alone on occasion. She'll pout about it, but will give you space when you ask. But she will expect double the attention next time you meet.
Phoenicia
Don’t worry about it honey, Phoenicia’s got your back.
She's a chatterbox and appreciates an active listener who doesn't interrupt, and hey, talking is overrated anyway! Texting is a far superior way of chatting.
Makes you feel so secure and taken care of.
Has no shortage of self improvement and mental heath advice, and is always happy to help out a friend in need. And the way she smiles at you, without judgement or expectation makes her feel super approachable.
Coaches you in self confidence and gets genuinely excited when she sees you actively put her advice into practice.
Loves the way you flush when you try to respond to her out loud, she finds you adorable and is beyond happy that you feel comfortable enough to speak to her.
Phoenicia's a social butterfly so there's no doubt she will go out of her way to help you make friends.
When she overheats her snappiness might rattle you a little bit, but once she's better she'll apologize and make sure you know she wasn't mad at you. She understands that you might need reassurance in these situations and never wants you to feel insecure around her.
Once you help her realize it's okay to take a break from the screen and focus on herself every once in a while, she discovers an appreciation for just sitting in silence with you and enjoying the moment.
You find peace in each others company during these moments, who knew you'd be so well suited to each other?
Prissy
She's so sweet, it doesn't matter to her at all.
To her, you are wonderful: you listen to her, you smile at her, you keep coming back to help her achieve her dream, and you're just so nice! Why would it matter to her that you don't speak? Her little bird friend doesn't speak and they're great!
In all honesty, she really appreciates your company. It gets pretty lonely in the attic, and even if you don't vocalize it at first, your actions show how deeply you believe in her (she's needed that more than she cares to admit).
Once she becomes real, she takes it upon herself to help you blossom the way she has.
Every time you speak to her she hugs you like it's the first time: she can't help it. Hearing your voice is such a gift!
As you do grow more comfortable speaking around her, it never gets less special. She's been with you through every step of your journey, just as you were for her, and she's witnessed your growth; that's something she will never take for granted.
Knows all the coziest spots in the house, where the sun hits just right, for when you need some quiet time.
She radiates tranquility, so you never feel unsafe with her by your side.
Skips
He gets it. Trust me, he does.
Though you'd never guess it from your initial meeting with xxXShadowl0rd420Xxx.
He has a talent for twisting things into being badass and edgy, and your quietness is no exception. It fits his idea of a dark ally perfectly - mysterious (and rather cute if you don't mind him saying).
If you prefer to speak through writing he's all for it, as long as you don't mind writing in the dark...
It's even more fun if you use 'the hanged man' to communicate.
It becomes a fun routine: him asking questions and then guessing for your answer. Then him figuring out your question and answering with enthusiasm.
He'll admit, the way you smile when he gets it right is frankly adorable, and the cheeky way you giggle when he is mistaken makes a part of him want to get it wrong on purpose (he won't though, can't risk that winning streak).
You find it's so much easier to talk when it's gamified. Soon enough you find yourself cracking jokes, even flirting in those rarer, bolder moments.
Spending time with him in the shadows is a welcome respite from the commotion that's overtaken your life ever since receiving the dateviators. And while his company is intimidating at first glance, you come to find him oddly charming.
When he reveals his true self, it takes a second for you to adjust. It's almost like meeting a new person, and you feel anxious all over again.
He feels guilty. Who wouldn't? You already have enough trouble interacting with and trusting others without a massive curveball like this shaking things up.
But you meet his apologies with a shake of the head and a soft reassurance that you still like him. Telling him that while you were helping him gain his armaments, it felt a bit like he was doing the same for you.
You connect deeply over your shared feelings of loneliness.
When he invites you to become a shadow with him the offer is tempting, after all shadows don't have the social pressures humans do.
And then it doesn't work... and then he gets frustrated.
You feel your heart break, and there's nothing you can say or do before he shuts you out.
But you can't help but understand his reaction: he's scared and alone, just like you've been for so long.
So you build up your courage and return, and for the first time since meeting you have a fully vocal conversation.
It feels good for both of you to clear the air and start again. By the end of the conversation he's awestruck - it kind of hits him all at once how significant that conversation was (he's thankful that you can't see the tears in his eyes through the dark).
From then on, the two of you are like two peas in a pod. You're each others' safe person.
When you're overstimulated there's always a space in the shadows for you to hide from the world. And a loving companion there to sit by your side until he's sure you feel better.
I've been gone a while, but my love for these characters still lives on. Hopefully the wait between now and part 8 won't be so long. So far, the characters I intend to write for next are: Tony, Lady Memoria, and Kopi. If you have any requests for characters I haven't done yet, please let me know. xxx
Date Everything characters with a player who has selective mutism Part 6
Characters: Eddie & Volt
Note: I know I said Dante, Rainey and Bathsheba would be in this part, but this ended up being a lot longer than anticipated. Both of their personalities work so well with this prompt in such different ways, I loved thinking about the dynamic between them and the player. The more I wrote the more ideas I had, so I've just decided to dedicate this part to them, hope that's alright!
Eddie & Volt
Buckle up folks, this is a long one.
Volt finds you very endearing, he thinks you're just the sweetest little lamb and does whatever he can to make you feel welcome.
He's perceptive, so when he sees you shying away from the more crowded, rowdy areas of the club he's quick to guide you to a table in the corner, far removed from all the noise.
Might push a little bit to get you to speak to him, he's sure you must have the loveliest voice, but he also knows when to step away.
If his forwardness intimidates you, he'll dial it back to make you more comfortable.
I can imagine it taking a while to grow accustomed to his vivacity and bravado, but he dedicates himself to making it happen.
You intrigue him, he's heard all about you from the others and wants to find out for himself what lies beneath your timorous exterior.
Eddie is a different story. At first his closed off demeanor is intimidating, but his visible state of exhaustion concerns you, and you want to help somehow.
So you decide to approach him. And then proceed to sit beside him in silence for half a minute, realizing that if you want a conversation, you'll have to be the one to start it.
You opt to write a note to him, asking if he's alright. He brushes you off, and you leave feeling a little bit dejected, but you still return the next evening at Volt's request.
The next time you see Eddie you decide to give him one more try.
You're nervousness is apparent, and makes him feel kind of bad, so he decides to reward your courage with the promise of ✨Manual Labor✨ next time you visit.
He's surprised when you actually show up, honestly he figured from how shaky you seemed in your previous interactions that you'd chicken out.
Discovers that he actually enjoys your company. You're quiet, efficient, dedicated to getting the job done and doing it well, and you aren't pushy with him. He appreciates that.
Your presence becomes comforting to him. You're not like the crowd he's used to.
You also find yourself feeling peaceful around him; while working with Eddie you find that, despite his initial gruffness, he's surprisingly easy to talk to. There's something about how upfront he is that puts you at ease: you don't have to guess with him, you know exactly where you stand. And you can tell his rough exterior, much like your own quietness, is a shield.
With nobody else around, the pressure of being social is lifted, and the conversations you do have, while sparse, are pleasant. The words flow naturally and when you don't have anything else to say, you can just turn your focus back to the task at hand.
There's a beautiful sense of freedom and relief that comes from these interactions, a looseness in your body, mind, and throat that you rarely feel in the company of others. You even manage to make him laugh a few times; you think that perhaps it's a sign that he's feeling the same thing.
He sees now why Volt finds you so endearing.
Now, with all that foreplay out of the way:
Once you've repaired the faulty wire and your relationship is established they become immeasurably doting.
You explain why you're so quiet and they immediately understand, no questions asked. They're just happy you trust them enough to speak to them.
Volt becomes infatuated with your voice from the moment he first hears it. He gets a bit pouty when he finds out how much you spoke to Eddie before him. You owe him a nice, long conversation (once you're ready of course).
If you visit during open hours, Volt will be practically glued to your side until he absolutely has to leave you. He knows you feel safer in public places when you have someone familiar beside you, and can't bare to see you sitting alone unable to start a conversation.
He wants you to feel included, and encourages you to interact with the other patrons when you're feeling social, skillfully joining their conversations and making sure you aren't left out, even if all you're doing is nodding along or whispering in his ear. Nothing brings him more pride than being able to act as your microphone.
With that said, he isn't at all pushy. He gets rather protective of his people and would much sooner chew off his own hand than see you upset. When you aren't in a speaking mood he's quicker to encourage others to give you space than to press you to involve yourself with them.
Eddie understands the importance of personal space and will take you somewhere quiet and removed if he notices you getting overwhelmed. He doesn't talk, just sits with you.
He's an enjoyer of shared silence, and knows that sometimes just existing in the same space as another; knowing you aren't alone, is more comforting than any words he could speak.
You tend to join them before opening hours, when it's not crowded and you get to have them all to yourself.
This time is special to them too, being able to hear your soft voice clearly, without the usual nightclub din.
Just don't expect all the special treatment to protect you from that sweet, sweet ✨Manual Labor✨
Date Everything characters with a player who has selective mutism Part 5
(Five parts already, and the ideas keep coming. Some of these were tricky, Cam and Doug specifically: I'm so different from them so getting into their headspace was difficult. I tried my hardest, so I hope I did a good job with them. As usual, please do let me know who you'd like to see in future parts, or if you want the series to continue at all. I'm having a lot of fun with it so I'll probably continue it either way, but it doesn't hurt to hear some feedback).
Doesn't really care. He assumes your silence is the result of indifference.
As far as he's aware your relationship is purely transactional, so he doesn't see the need for conversation anyway.
The first time you use the dateviators on him not many words are exchanged: you smile, wave, and quietly thank him when he takes your trash. But you don't leave immediately.
He gives you a weird look, are you not done here?
It takes a minute to force your voice to cooperate and ask his name, eyes glued to the floor. Is that all? Why are your legs shaking? He's not some rabid wild animal, chill out.
After some very awkward introductions you leave him somewhat baffled.
He starts to figure you out a little following that. Sometimes when interacting with other dateables you write down your contributions to the discussions on paper. When they're no longer needed, they often end up with Cam; he finds out about your condition while reading one of them.
Next time you meet he's mellowed out a bit and lets you know you really don't have to force yourself to speak to him: he knows it's not your thing, and he's not one for small talk anyway.
From then on it's entirely up to you if/when conversations happen between you both. He won't admit it but he finds it kind of sweet that you try with him despite your social struggles, and his salty attitude.
Might snoop on accidentally read your notes to others. He's curious what you talk to them about, and wants to know more about you without having to ask questions.
Appreciates the respect you show him and how you don't force conversation on him either. When you do chat it comes naturally and leaves you both feeling at ease.
Sometimes you leave notes for him with your trash, even without the dateviators on. Just silly little messages, maybe questions you're too nervous to ask in person; general things you feel like saying to him. The casual acknowledgement makes him feel warm and gooey in a way that he hates.
On occasion you'll find napkins or paper scraps with messily scribbled responses on the counter.
Likes hanging out with you in silence, just doing your own thing. It's nice just being beside someone who understands you without judgement.
Celia & Florence
You've never really thought about it before but Florence has been supporting you for a long while. You have a habit of staring at the floor when you speak; when you feel nervous; when you're searching for the right words. You may not realize but before you received the dateviators she was always looking back up at you, cheering you on and hoping her silent encouragement would reach you.
Celia as mayor of the house knows all about your condition and does what she can to ensure all objects in the house are aware to some degree.
They know how you prefer to communicate so are both fully prepared when you first meet.
They support and trust you implicitly, having seen the efforts you've made to help the other objects in the house, and it's not long before you share the sentiment.
You find Florence fairly easy to talk to from the start, she's such a pleasant and welcoming presence.
Celia is more difficult initially. You know she likes you, and she truly is a wonderful, magnanimous woman. But you've always struggled speaking with authority figures so her mayoral status is naturally intimidating; you can't seem to look her in the eye.
It take's Florence's canned air predicament to give you pressing enough motivation to speak. It's much easier to use your voice when you're doing it on the behalf of others.
Celia is impressed by your drive and determination when problem solving; both women find it very attractive admirable how you step up to the plate and save the day.
Their office is a safe place for you to retire if you need sanctuary from the outside world (or the rest of the house in your unique case). The three of you can quietly work on your own things without any awkward tension.
If you agree to become co-mayors, Celia allows you to take on a more behind-the-scenes approach. Leave the public, social aspects to her.
Both encourage you to come out of your shell by setting tasks for you that involve other objects. You won't be doing them alone of course, Florence will join you if you need support. However, when you do manage them on your own you return to two very proud partners, both eager to wrap you in a loving embrace.
Parker
Do you have hands?
Can you role a die?
Do you still wanna play? Yes? Well that's all that matters, silly!
Follow the rules, play the game, have fun, you'd better be having fun, he's having so SO much fun, you're nodding so that must mean FUN IS BEING HAD!
Oh, and for the love of all things holy DO NOT CHEAT! Not that you ever would, you're too scared to open your own front door, why would you ever in your right mind subject yourself to Parker's fury?
No doubt he frightens you at first, he is overstimulation personified, but he also doesn't treat you like you're weird for not speaking. In fact, that doesn't seem to phase him at all.
You listen to the rules and don't interrupt him; that's a big turn on for him that's a quality he values in a possible lover/friend/enemy. He loves your company, even if he doesn't yet know how he feels about you.
He's a bit of a mixed bag: sometimes he's intensely loud, sometimes he's intensely quiet, sometimes he's intensely somewhere in the middle. Due to that he can be hard to speak to sometimes.
You're never really sure where you stand with him, even after you roll for love. But if you express your insecurities to him, he'll be quick to shut them down. The dice do not lie. You are his one and only true love!
Believe it or not, he is actually capable of toning himself down a bit if you display genuine confusion or concern about his true feelings. He'll assure you that his feelings are real, and he's so glad you rolled love, as that was the result he'd been hoping for since the beginning.
Tends to frighten the other dateables off, so he's actually pretty good to hang around with when you need a moment away from the noise (just make sure you pick a focused game, or you can't guarantee quiet).
Doug
Oof
You probably don't get off to the best start if I'm being honest. He's not going to go easy on you just because you're a wimp. It's up to you to be brave and persist.
You came back? Weird choice, but you're hot so he'll give hanging out with you a shot; he hates small talk anyway.
Most of your meetups are spent doom scrolling. You don't even acknowledge each other; no hellos or goodbyes, just you and your sense of existential dread hanging in silence on the same couch.
It's kind of nice, not that he'd ever admit it out loud. You remind him a bit of her, with the patience and kindness you show him, the fact that you actually choose to be around him. Plus, you actually text back.
You mostly communicate with him through text. He'll send random texts while sitting right next to you, usually mild insults or videos of animals being separated from their owners - you know, fun stuff.
I can't imagine you ever being mean to him, you don't have a cruel bone in your body, so if you want him to open up to you, you'll have to stick it out for a while.
You can try opening up to him first, but he already knows everything, in fact part of it is probably his responsibility. Although he will admit your social anxiety is a major douche canoe (maybe not in those words but we try and keep things somewhat appropriate here).
With enough persistence he'll give in and explain himself. It's a relief to talk about his past with someone who listens so unjudgmentally.
From there you're relationship blossoms. Maybe blossoms isn't the right word, nothing much changes, but he is more gentle with you. He cares, even if he struggles to show it.
He won't talk on your behalf. But also won't encourage you to speak to others on your own. You don't need to force yourself to make friends, in the end everyone dies alone anyway. Just hang out with him, he's better company.
Probably doesn't encourage the most healthy habits. Might be a good idea to get Artt involved, he'll even things out.
Keyes
Finally! Someone who listens and doesn't speak.
She appreciates a captive audience and doesn't like people who disrupt her peace so you are a welcome friend.
You listen attentively to her grievances and go out of your way to help her.
She realizes that she genuinely takes pleasure in having you around, and not just to smile and applaud whenever she finishes playing a piece.
You're genuinely nice to talk to, and approach her with patience and understanding instead of a sour attitude like so many of the other objects.
Most of all: you're genuinely likeable. You do not speak yet have so many friends around the house; clearly there are things she can learn from you.
In your presence she learns to be humble, more respectful of those around her. You are truly inspiring.
She is used to being center stage so has no issue taking the attention off of you when things get too much.
You're able to find peace by her side, free from judgement, no need for words. Just listen to the music play, let it soothe your soul.
Keyes enjoys spending quiet time with you. It's nice having someone who simply likes being with her, without expectations. Although she does enjoy the sound of your voice when you do use it.
Loves teaching you piano duets so you can play together. It's a beautiful form of intimacy that doesn't require words, and it's exclusive to the two of you.
(Thank you as always for reading. Characters confirmed for part 6: Dante, Eddie & Volt, Rainey, Bathsheba. Feel free to request anyone else you'd like to see)
(Had a rough day today, so I did some writing to comfort myself. Hope some of you can find comfort in this as well. I picked a few of my faves for this one)
Characters: Betty, Amir, Barry Styles, Freddy, Daisuke, Rainey, Dasha, Eddie & Volt
Betty
It breaks her heart to see you like this, and she's seen it more times than she can bear.
But now she's able to do something about it.
Lets you lay in her arms until you feel better.
Will listen if you want to talk about it, and offers you her empathy.
She's not the type to give unsolicited advice, she just listens, nodding quietly.
If you don't feel like talking, she'll whisper sweet nothings to you until you fall asleep in her arms:
'It's okay' 'Let it out, honey' 'I've got you'
Her voice is so soothing it almost makes you forget your troubles.
Amir
Always knows how to lift your spirits.
Will gently wipe away your tears while showering you with pretty words. This man is a fountain of praise and compliments, we all know this.
Strokes you hair as he tells you how wonderful you are.
Won't let you go until your smiling again: he can't have you leaving without feeling entirely like yourself.
'You're beautiful even when you cry, Azizam.'
Barry
The perfect person to go to if you need a little pick-me-up.
If you need a distraction he's your guy. Ask him about his current hyperfixation and you'll be grinning in no time: his smile is just so contagious.
He's also surprisingly good at giving advice.
Knows the best ways to soothe your eyes after crying, and will pamper you until your low mood is forgotten.
He sends you away with a sweet little peck on the nose; you leave the bathroom feeling refreshed and much lighter that when you walked in.
Freddy
He's so soft with you, it's adorable.
Swamps you in a big ole hug that makes you feel safe and protected.
Comfort food! Comfort food!
If you get a headache from crying he'll press his cool palm against it to ease the pain.
He's a great listener; always knows what to say to make you feel better.
Makes silly jokes until you crack a smile.
Daisuke
Sit with him and tell him what's troubling you. He'll hold your hand gently as he listens.
The most attentive partner: knows what you need from him without having to be told.
Solution oriented.
Will do whatever he can to help you with your problem, even if that's just by holding you.
You get to see the softest side of him in these moments, as he dries your tears and mutters compassionate, wise words into your hair.
Rainey
She's wonderful at taking your mind off of whatever's bothering you. Her vibrant personality can make anybody feel better.
Come dance with her, or watch her dance if you're not feeling up to it, it's sure to put a smile on your face.
If that doesn't work she's glad to sit and chat for a bit.
Tell her what's wrong and she'll hold your hands, telling you you're far to good for the world to treat you like this.
Time to pick yourself up and show your troubles you're not gonna let them keep you down.
Dasha
Holds you so tightly, and doesn't let go until you do.
Might cry with you honestly, she just hates to see her beloved suffering.
Encourages you to share the burden with her, tell her what she can do to help.
Will do anything she can to make you smile again. Would probably lift you over her head just to make you giggle.
Glued to your side until she's certain you feel better.
Takes such good care of you when you're feeling low, you have all of her attention.
Eddie & Volt
Drop everything to be by your side.
Both of them are the types that love deeply, so your pain is their pain.
They take you somewhere quiet to calm down. Volt wraps his jacket around your shoulders hoping the warmth and weight will bring you comfort (it does).
Eddie will crouch down in front of you to meet your eyes and ask what's wrong. I imagine him being incredibly soft in sensitive moments like these.
They both listen intently, Volt holding you as your body wracks with sobs.
Volt is much better with words so Eddie lets him do most of the comforting, opting to hold your hand so you know he's still there.
So incredibly patient and understanding with you. Take as long as you need, they'll be right there.

Heyy idk if you take requests rn but I'm try anyway and see what happens (just pls lmk if you don't so I know <3)
Breaker Box duo, Hector and maybe Curt & Rod with a houseowner who has scars littering their body from either a bad past or a nasty accident and they for the most part tend to hide it from the objects that don't see them without clothes on the daily. But what if they find out about it at some point
(Thank you for this interesting request. The subject matter is a bit sensitive and I don't exactly feel qualified to write on it in detail, but I've done what I can. Hope this is to your liking).
Curt & Rod
It's difficult to hide things for these two, they're everywhere, and once you get together wherever you are is where they'll be; it's only natural they'd see sooner or later.
Now, these two can turn almost anything into a lighthearted roast, but scars are off limits. There are just some lines they refuse to cross.
That said, when it comes to whoever/whatever hurt you, the gloves come off.
If they came from a person in your past, that person is being torn to shreds. They might need to be reminded of their own rules, because they get heated.
They'll stop if you say you'd rather not think about whoever it was, but if you join in and laugh along with them they'll take it as encouragement to carry on. It's very cathartic for you, and as it goes on the roasts just get goofier and goofier until you can only think back on that person as a clown.
If the scars came from an accident their response relies entirely on yours. If you seem closed off about it or uncomfortable about the topic, they'll masterfully change the subject to something more enjoyable. If you're able to joke about it, they'll joke right back
They're concerned beneath it all but they cover it up well; as long as they can keep you smiling they're happy .
If you ever feel insecure about your scars they jump at the chance to remind you how much of a sexy badass you are.
Eddie & Volt
Eddie is the first to notice them. It happens while you're helping out with maintenance. You reach upwards, causing your fantastic red shirt to ride up, revealing the litany of scars across your back.
He can't just ignore it, his mind is full of too many possibilities and he needs answers now. He'll halt everything to ask what happened.
You brush it off at first, unsure if you're ready to get into this right now.
That's when Volt walks in, smile faltering when he notices how quiet you two are being. He catches Eddie's concerned gaze and within seconds a silent communication takes place, before Volt sits you down and asks what's wrong.
With both their eyes on you, you falter, and suddenly everything you've been holding in comes spilling out.
They sit on either side of you, supportive, never interrupting, with Volt gently holding your hands as Eddie strokes soothing circles upon your back. It takes everything in them to keep composed, seeing you in such a vulnerable state.
They listen with understanding, and Eddie assures you that you can stop at any point if the recollection gets too painful.
When you finish your story there are two ways it could go:
If the scars came from an accident, they'll thank you for telling them and apologize for bringing up the bad memories, then dedicate themselves to making the rest of your evening a lovely one. Chase away the painful memories with some new, joyous ones.
If the scars came from a person, you may need to hold them back: you know these two get protective, Volt especially. They're furious for you. How dare someone treat you this way. Tell them it's all in the past and you don't want to think about it anymore, and they'll calm down. Mostly. After that you're getting royal treatment, because that is what you deserve, and anyone who thinks otherwise can kiss their socket.
Hector
There's no way he hasn't already noticed them. If not the scars themselves, then the way you're constantly keeping your body covered up even in the hottest months. And while he loves his job, and has no trouble working overtime on these days, it still troubles him to see you disregarding your own comfort in this way.
So yes, he already knows something is wrong. He just has the good sense not to bring them up before you're ready to speak on it. The last thing he wants is to make you upset.
It's a while into your relationship when the subject comes up. It's the hottest day of the summer and you're wearing a long sleeved shirt. And while it is a fantastic red shirt, it is not suitable for the current temperature. He doesn't want to press you on what could be a painful subject, but he also doesn't want you passing out from heat exhaustion.
He decides to broach the topic as subtly as he can, not wanting to overstep any boundaries. You're standing under one of his vents, trying to cool off when he gently suggests changing into something less stifling.
He is a beacon of concern and affection, and you realize you want him to know. After all the vulnerability he's shown you, revealing himself in his purest, truest form, it just feels right to do the same.
Hiding yourself had become a habit that you couldn't shake, and as you walk up to the attic your stomach twists with unwelcome nerves. You know Hector would never see you as anything less than beautiful. That your vulnerability would be met with understanding. But that persistent, gnawing feeling makes you hesitant, and you can't help but feel guilty.
Once you crossed the threshold of the attic Dorian though, you know there's no turning back.
Hector stands before you, patient as ever, naturally lighting up at the sight of you. His brow furrows when he notices your anxious expression and he rushes to sit you down, asking what's wrong.
You tell him everything, what happened, why you hid it for so long, the guilt you felt about keeping it from him after all he's done for you; shown you.
He could weep. To think someone so perfect could be put through something so awful, it breaks his heart.
If the scars came from a person in your past, he won't hide his disdain, he does have a bit of a protective streak when it comes to you.
If you're willing to show him your scars he'll kiss each and every one of them, showering you in compliments and praise. You are the strongest, most radiant person he's ever known, and he's not afraid to show it.
Date Everything characters on the players birthday
(It's my birthday! That means it's prime time for a self indulgent bday fic. I tried to include as many characters as I could)
You bet your ass they're all banding together to celebrate you, in this house your birthday is an entire holiday in itself.
Holly, as always, takes charge of party planning, gift wrapping, decorations, invitations, balloon blowing, etc... until Betty steps in and firmly suggests she lets everyone get involved. It's only fair for them all to contribute after everything you've done for them, and Holly needs to learn to share the workload.
Celia and Florence assign everybody roles to play, arranging things so that nobody gets overworked.
Betty and the bedroom dateables are in charge of keeping you occupied upstairs so everybody else can set up. The Hanks are great at distracting people, they can and will talk your ear off about their gnarliest exploits and the cool stuff they've got planned for the future. Hector takes this as an opportunity to say happy birthday and give you all his well wishes for the day: he's still not ready to show his face in front of everyone so he makes the most of this time, it's unlikely you'll be able to speak again once the celebration is underway. You promise to visit him tomorrow and tell him all about it. Tell him his presence will be missed and he'll blush like crazy. Tyrell suggests taking a long relaxing bath to rejuvenate you before the long day to come. With Bathsheba and Rebel keeping you company it's not necessarily relaxing, but it's definitely invigorating, and when you finally climb out of the tub you're red in the face from laughing. I'll leave it up to your imagination who/what else you do during this time (I'm sure Ben-Hwa would be more than pleased to keep you occupied).
Timothy is put in charge of the day's itinerary, making sure this day is planned out to a T. He stresses himself out a bit trying to make everything fit precisely, this day has to be perfect for you. Once you're downstairs give him a cuddle and thank him for his hard work; it'll make it all worthwhile.
Phoenicia and Lux spread the word to all the dateables via social media, inviting everyone to join the celebration.
The kitchen dateables are on food duty - shock horror. Stefan and Mitchell collaborate on the, quite frankly, enormous cake. Friar Errol does not approve, but he's willing to turn the other cheek seeing as it's a special day. Luke lovingly attempts to cook you something special... it's the thought that counts (please DO NOT eat it). Freddy has snacks aplenty ready for you to enjoy. Daisuke outdoes himself arranging the spread, he prides himself on his pristine presentation: you deserve only the best.
Rainey, Keyes and Miranda are on music. Rainey has all of your favorites on standby (and makes you promise to save a dance for her once the party begins). Meanwhile, Keyes takes it upon herself to write an entire three hour long concerto in your honor. Miranda learns some of your favorite love songs, plus a few originals, ready to give a live performance later that night.
Shelley, Cabrizzio, Prissy, Artt and Abel assist Holly on decorating duty; the house is full of color by the time they're finished. Tony offers to help, but after his suggestion of knocking down the adjoining walls and turning the entire ground level into a giant dancefloor, he's turned away.
Amir, Barry, and Clarence give you a glamorous makeover, showering you with compliments and affection before finally passing you over to Skylar who guides you downstairs. It seems like everybody has gathered for this occasion.
Now comes the actual celebration.
If you ever doubted how loved you are, buckle up because today they're going all out:
Jerry gifts you an adorable little handmade sculpture of yourself, he calls it his best work yet.
Mac buys you a selection of items from your online wish lists. Don't ask them where the money came from, it's best you don't know.
Monique gives you a sweetly written card with a small wad of banknotes inside; she says to treat yourself to something special... yes it is your own money, but as your financial advisor she's granting you permission to indulge. So, you know... that's nice.
Sophia gifts you some... unique costumes with the promise of a great time.
The amount of love poems you receive is absurd: Hector, Lyric, Washford, Diana, Cabrizzio, Daisuke, even Fantina made an attempt. Lyric compiles them all into one booklet for you.
Scandalabra also wrote you a poem, but it was too salacious to be included with the others.
Reggie doesn't get you anything, what did you expect? At least he actually turned up. Isn't his presence gift enough?
Lux shows face at the party for a few minutes and then leaves. The influncer hustle never stops. But they posted you on their story, so that's something.
Penelope got everybody to sign a massive birthday card for you, there are no gaps inside. It's full of sweet messages and silly doodles. Even Doug signed his name in the corner.
Cam is a special case. Your birthday is just as special a day for him as it is to you. He gets no shortage of giftwrap, tissue paper and leftovers, it's the best. He folds some of the prettier paper into crude origami flowers, then gets too shy to give them to you so he leaves them on the side for you to find later. Hopefully when he's not around.
When it's time for cake, Arma carefully lights the candles, remaining on standby in case of an emergency.
When the evening comes around everyone relocates to the Breaker Box for a night of entertainment. As everyone gets situated Eddie and Volt give you special attention, guiding you to your usual table where a small gift box awaits you. Inside is a delicate handmade bracelet of carefully braided wires. Don't make a big deal about it, Eddie will get seriously flustered.
Before introducing the first act, Volt gives you a very gracious and heartfelt speech, you can feel the love radiating off of everyone in the room.
Jean Loo is the first up, he talks big game beforehand, saying he's about to make crap history with this new song (inspired by his ultra-talented human), but when he gets to performing he flushes bright red. Maybe he got a little too sappy in the writing stage. The embarrassment dissipates with your applause though, that's when the smugness comes back.
Johnny Splash also writes a song dedicated to you. If you can hear the lyrics over his unfortunate singing voice it's actually really sweet. You're the only one clapping at the end, but that's all he needs.
To close off the night Miranda takes to the stage. She gives a dazzling performance, which is very welcome after the previous acts. Finishing it off with a romantic ballad, maybe even inviting you up to sing with her if that's your thing.
By the days end you and all the others are exhausted. If you ask nicely, Dorian will carry you to bed, where Betty, Mateo and Teddy are waiting to fill the last few minutes of your birthday with warmth and affection.
Date Everything characters with a player who has selective mutism Part 4
(Welcome lovely people to part 4. I have a bit of catchup to play with the number of characters requested for this series. Rest assured if you have made a request they will make their way into a future part. Hope you enjoy)
Characters: Bobby Pinn, Jean Loo, Nightmare, Lucinda Lavish, Freddy the Yeti
Bobby Pinn
Everything you do is so silent; they need someone with your level of stealth on their side.
Views your silence as a strength, not a weakness. Every gang has the silent scary type: you never know what they're thinking and that intimidates rival groups. You don't exactly fit into that box yet but Bobby sees potential in you.
They're gonna train you up to be the scariest right hand man the criminal world has ever seen, just you wait.
Whichever way you choose to communicate with them, they always make sure no evidence of it is left behind.
You help them on their hunt for a headquarters as much as you can, but when it comes to speaking with the other dateables you sort of hang back and let them do their thing... which unfortunately doesn't work out in their favor. But hey, you're still sticking around; that sort of loyalty is important in the biz. So they won't let it get them down.
When they open up about their family and impostor syndrome you decide it's time to speak up.
You tell them you admire their enthusiasm and tenacity; that since you met them you've become way more confident. You don't care what anyone else thinks because you know Bobby will always be there seeing the best in you. They might not be the best crime boss around, but they are without a doubt the best you know (the only one you know but they don't need to know that)
Most importantly, you believe in them, and you promise to be their partner in crime for as long as they'll have you.
Just give them a sec, they have dust in their eye.
It takes them a minute to realize that's the first time they've ever heard you speak. When were you gonna tell them you have a voice? It's about time you explain yourself to them.
Once they know, they're insanely proud of you for how far you've come.
That conversation brings you two a lot closer together.
After they switch careers, they never put pressure on you to come to the shows. They appreciate the support but honestly you wouldn't be missing out on much, and they know you hate audience participation.
If you decide to go for their sake, they'd be touched. They'll get you a seat in the back so you don't get picked on. Every now and again they shoot a cheeky wink your way from the front.
Super supportive. If you ever feel shy while talking to the others they'll be at your side with one arm slung over your shoulders ready to say whatever you need them to.
They always stand taller after talking to you, smug in the knowledge that not a lot of folks get that privilege.
Jean Loo
I'll be honest, I think at the beginning he'd probably see you as pitiful.
I mean, he gets it, it's only natural to be intimidated by the Lil Crapper, he's used to leaving his opponents and fans speechless.
But he does not waste his time with soft-spoken, stuttering little babies. You cannot crap if you cannot speak.
If you want his attention you're going to have to find some confidence, stand a little straighter, speak a little louder, stop caring so much about what other people think. Come back when you learn to talk.
Yes it's mean, but it's also the push you need to start improving yourself.
You have Skylar coach you on conversation and start spending more time with the chattier objects in the house like Phoenicia and Wyndolyn to try and build up some confidence socially.
Eventually you work up the courage to try your luck with Jean Loo again. You take a deep breath, stand up straight, and finally introduce yourself without breaking eye contact.
He'd be lying to say he wasn't impressed. Honestly, he didn't expect you to actually listen to his advice, so he agrees to give you a chance.
That's where the trouble starts up again. None of your practice involved impromptu freestyle (c)rapping and your composure falters when the idea is brought up.
Once again, he understands why you would be intimidated, you'd be facing up against the best of the best after all. But this time, Jean Loo doesn't send you away: he has seen your potential and is willing to train you himself, he's curious to see what you can do.
When you finally manage to beat him in a crap battle he falls hard, not just because of your wit and prowess, but because it was an inspiring demonstration of inner strength.
Congratulations! You have gained a new hype man
Totally takes the pressure off of talking to others.
You feel shy or having a non-verbal day? Pffft! They're losers anyway, not worth talking to. You've got better things to do, like hang out with him.
He may not be the most helpful in that regard but he means well, maybe he just wants to keep your sweet voice all to himself.
Nightmare
You make her job far too easy, almost to the point where she feels bad.
They might take it easy from time to time if she notices your nightmares causing you more trouble interacting with others.
Will hang around when the nightmare's over to talk through your fears a bit. It's honestly kind of helpful for you both: you get an outlet for your darkest thoughts and anxieties, and she gets a better understanding of why you're afraid of these things.
It gives her ideas for future material, but also gives her an excuse to hear your voice.
In the delirious state between sleep and wakefulness, when looking into the many eyes of an imaginary concept, it's difficult for your mind to make sense of things. It almost refuses to acknowledge her as real.
The feeling of asphyxiation that often comes with speaking to others is absent. You are paralyzed by fear, but for some reason that fear only reaches as far as your collarbone. In the surreal nature of these encounters you find an unusual sense of mental clarity; you subconsciously understand that she is not a threat, and the words do not get lost on the way out.
She doesn't judge your fears, no matter how irrational, and there is a tenderness in the way they ghost their fingertips along your body while telling their stories, snickering gently when they manage to elicit a shiver out of you.
Once your relationship deepens she dials back the number of public speaking/humiliation/everyone-hates-me dreams you have, instead opting for more abstract concepts that may be unsettling in your sleep, but make for amusing conversation after waking.
But those bad dreams aren't gone for good. She can't let you get too comfortable now, can she? After all, there are still lessons to be learned from them, and it's their job to frighten you, a job they take tremendous pleasure in.
Lucinda
Speechless? She tends to have that effect on people.
Just smile and nod and you'll be on her good side.
When she pops up you humor her, listening as she tells you all the ways in which she is the best.
But you can recognize the loneliness behind her façade.
After a few visits you find it within you to speak up and ask her to tell you more about herself. It takes a few tries but eventually you manage to break through the performative exterior and find out her true thoughts and feelings.
You have a deep heart to heart about both of your fears surrounding your identities and how others perceive you. Turns out you have a lot more in common than you realized, you just took complete opposite paths when dealing with it.
You promise to take care of each other after that:
She'll swoop in whenever you're struggling to interact with others to take over (or basically just steal the attention off of you). The other's don't really talk to her so it's usually a good excuse to end a conversation.
Meanwhile, you provide her with a companion who truly accepts her for her. Someone patient who she can take off the mask and be vulnerable with, Lucinda Low-key if you will.
When everything gets to be too much, there's a massive pile of pillows in her love den with your name on it, where she will shower you with affection and say whatever you need to hear to calm you down.
She struggles being comfortable in silence, but she's willing to learn for you.
Freddy
He's so gentle with you, it's incredibly sweet.
He's aware of your troubles, so does what he can to make you comfortable interacting with him. And he's a really chill guy from the get go, so his imposing exterior doesn't frighten you (believe me, that's the last thing he wants).
Still, he tries to make himself a bit smaller when you're around so you don't get intimidated. It doesn't really have any effect but you appreciate the sentiment and let him know as much.
There's no need to speak to him, just relax while he lists your snack options and nod when he names something you want.
Great company when you're feeling anxious and need to cool off. He has no qualms about telling the others to back up when you need your space.
When he loses his temper it seriously shakes you up; for just a moment he becomes a complete stranger and suddenly you're burning up from head to toe, a familiar pressure constricting your throat.
You freeze like a deer in headlights, staring at your feet until you can force them to remove you from the situation before he sees you cry.
It's too late though, as soon as you've left he snaps out of it and feels his heart shatter. He did the one thing he promised he'd never do and now you're scared of him. He really is a monster.
It takes a while for you to feel brave enough to approach him again, and every second of that is torture for him. He knows how fragile you are, and fears you might have completely lost trust in him.
In the meantime he does whatever he can in the background to show his devotion to your wellbeing, it's the least he can do to make it up to you.
When you finally approach him, you cautiously ask if he's feeling better and apologize for being too pushy with him. Your concern catches him off guard, he'd been preparing for the worst since your last interaction and this was the last thing he expected. You tell him you were giving him space because you thought you upset him. He's quick to set you straight.
Of course, once he explains himself you understand and assure him that you could never be scared of him, you're just easily rattled by shouting.
You'll never hear him raise his voice again, he's so careful around you.
(Thank you for reading. Can you tell I love Bobby Pinn? As always, please feel free to request characters for future parts, I'll make sure to add them to the list. Confirmed characters for next part are: Parker, Doug, and Cam).
Date Everything characters with a player who has selective mutism Part 3
(Here's the much awaited part 3! It has been amazing to see how many people have been enjoying and connecting with my work. I've received a lot of requests, I'll try to get to them when I can. Thank you all so much and I hope you enjoy)
Characters: Daisuke, Lyric, Winnifred, River, Abel, Tydus
Daisuke
Knows of your quiet demeanor from the beginning, though he is unaware of your reason for being so.
He comes off as aloof but don't be mistaken, he has more trust for you than most: your gentleness and diligence have earned his respect. He has witnessed the grace and care you've shown the other dateables and thus holds you in high regard.
When he gets chipped your frantic whispered apologies give him pause; he cannot bring himself to be angry. In your eyes is a desperate need to be forgiven. A deep fear of disapproval or (heavens forbid) being hated.
He gives you the chance to redeem yourself more for your sake than his (although he does need the rest).
After this, you continue helping him with his work. Your time together is often spent in peaceful silence, and the few words you do share are comfortably pleasant.
If you're anything like me you use writing (or anything creative really) as a form of cathartic release. So when you find out about Daisuke's love for poetry it gives you an idea on how to best connect with him.
While writing and sharing your poetry with one another you use it as an opportunity to explore the deeper intricacies of your mental condition in a more abstract way, branching into and expression of the tranquility that overtakes you in Daisuke's presence, how safe you feel when he's around, and your desire to keep spending time with him.
What you write is more heartfelt and genuine than any verbal love confession.
With this deeper understanding of your inner world, Daisuke is ever more certain of his feelings for you. He only hopes that he can capture them in his own poem.
Sharing poetry becomes a bit of a routine between you. You inspire him greatly, and while his writing isn't the best, it certainly comes from the heart. His words demonstrate an intense devotion and adoration for you, and you can't help but find the odd use of similes endearing.
When you praise his writing or his work he lights up like you've just handed him the keys to heaven. Your opinion is important to him, and to hear it directly from you makes his heart flutter.
Following your confessions he gets quite protective over you: if he ever sees you struggling to interact with anyone, freezing up or looking shaky, he'll be right behind you with icy eyes, steady hands on your shoulders, making sure whoever it is is treating you with the tenderness you deserve.
Very gentle in his affections, as to him you are as delicate and beautiful as the finest china.
Lyric
Lyric is already well acquainted with you upon your first meeting: you've used fiction as a form of escapism for as long as you can remember, a way to free you from the pressure of living.
He's grown accustomed to your quietness; the way you would hold onto your books like a lifeline when approached by others, the way you would hug them close to your chest, an anchor keeping your anxieties from running rampant. He's happy to provide that stability, honored even.
You've always treated your books with the utmost care, as if they themselves were living, feeling things (and that was before you even knew that they were). You harbored them with gentle hands careful not to crease the pages or crack their spines. He wants to treat you with that same tenderness.
He already knows you better than most of the objects in the house, so when you acquire the dateviators and finally meet him face to face, he's prepared for whichever form of communication you prefer to use.
He doesn't patronize you; simply speaks with the kindness and care of a lifelong friend, a deep fondness that has come from being by your side for so long.
When you manage to squeak out your thanks for all he has done for you he is touched to his core.
Assures you that you must only use your voice around him when you feel comfortable doing so, don't force yourself. The voice you use in your writing has always been just as beautiful to him anyhow.
A lot of your conversations happen entirely through writing, the only sound filling the air between you being that of pencils against paper.
He is overjoyed when you agree to help him write his book (he's secretly been dreaming of this day for years, he's read all of the little stories you've written in your spare time, the poems, the shameful self insert fanfics - don't worry he actually thinks they're romantic - and he can't wait to hear your ideas).
There's never really an outward confession of your feelings for each other, just a mutual understanding which transcends words. You belong to each other in a way that doesn't warrant explanation.
So when you do say 'I love you,' it holds a meaning far beyond the words themselves. It means trust. It means devotion. It means 'I'm home.'
Silent reading dates = absolute bliss
His favorite moments happen right after you've finished a book, when you lie in his arms and discuss your thoughts in voices so soft only the two of you can hear them.
Winnifred
Well aren't you just a sweetheart?
She's observant so there's no doubt that she's already aware of what you go through when you first meet.
If you ever feel overwhelmed, come sit with Winnie in the boiler closet and she'll soothe you back to your natural serene state. With a voice like honey she'll tell stories about the previous homeowners until you're smiling again.
She saves the funnier stories for when you're feeling low, a good laugh can be healing.
She absolutely takes you under her wing, gently trying to ease you into interacting with others. You don't even have to speak at first, baby steps, just be present in the conversation; let her do all the work and if you have something to add but feel too scared to say it, whisper it to her, she'll share it for you.
Say something that makes her laugh and she'll recount it to the others so that they can share in the joy (you get full credit of course). Being able to make others laugh, even if it's through someone else, is the best feeling.
Eventually, with her help, you start making your own interjections. They might be hesitant and spoken more to the ground than the others around you, but they are spoken and that's what matters.
Once you're alone together again she'll give you the warmest hug, telling you how impressed she is with the progress you've made.
You tell her that you're just following her example: you admire her openness and want to find that kind of freedom within yourself; to be unapologetic in your existence. She gives you that confidence just by being herself, and you are so grateful to her for sticking with you.
Keep speaking from the heart like that and the room might steam up.
River
Insecure at first: she takes you're silence to mean you dislike her.
She might avoid you for a time until Winnifred explains your situation.
Next time you approach her she apologizes smoothly, asking if she can do anything for you. When you shake your head no and gesture for her to sit with you she isn't sure what to do. You take out your notebook and write your own apology for making her feel uncomfortable. Then you ask her name.
You start to fall into a rhythm after that. You see a bit of yourself in her, the desire to be liked by everyone, to be useful to others, to not be a burden, and because of this you keep coming back. And she is touched every time, because she knows how much courage it takes for you to approach people.
There's a part of you that needs her to see that she's wonderful as she is, regardless of which state she's in, simply because she's her, because subconsciously you know that if she can see that then it's possible for you to see yourself in the same way.
You become each other's comfort person, providing a blanket of understanding that makes communication and vulnerability so much easier.
You don't judge each other, you just take turns talking and listening, which may sound like the most ordinary thing, but to you it's a massive change.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed she'll whisk you away to somewhere quiet. She doesn't push you to talk about it, but will listen if you choose to. Usually these moments are spent with your head on her shoulder, listening to the soothing sound of gentle rolling waves that her body emanates.
She enjoys comfortable silence, especially when you paint together. Sometimes words are just unnecessary.
You help each other come out of your shells; make each other better versions of yourselves, versions that you feel at peace with.
Abel
You'll never find a more supportive companion than Abel.
If you don't want to speak that's just fine, there are plenty of other ways to communicate.
He's so patient with you, and dedicates himself to learning your behavioral cues so that he can better support you.
Always seems to get softer when you enter a room: he wants you to feel as comfortable and secure around him as you can be.
It always brings a smile to his face when he sees you quietly going about your business, helping everyone out where you can, and the fact that you want to help him too is just so sweet in his eyes.
When you do speak, he makes sure to lean down and remove his hat so he can listen; your voice is soft as a kitten in a cloud, and he wants to be able to hear it as clearly as possible.
He's a very comforting presence so speaking to him comes fairly easily.
Happy to speak on your behalf around others, but sometimes just having him there makes you feel safe enough to speak for yourself.
He notices when you're being more social, and will give you due praise for it, as well as lots of big warm hugs (his hugs are heavenly I just know it). He's proud of you and not afraid to let you know.
On your lower, non-verbal days he'll sit with you and talk about whatever he can think of while you lean into his side. He knows you find the sound of his voice calming and he doesn't want you to be lonely. On these days he's more than happy to pass around messages for you.
When you compliment him or show any verbal affection he gets so bashful, he already flusters easily but to hear the words straight from your mouth is something truly special.
Hold his hands so he can't hide his face and then tell him he's adorable, he'll melt into a puddle.
Tydus
She has heard tell of your noble deeds around the house, so when she meets you she's surprised to find you not forthcoming. She expected someone more commanding, and while you are not without poise, there is no hiding the timidity that finds shelter within your heart.
But the main thing she notices about you is your eyes. They are the eyes of one who has fought many battles, full of thinly veiled fear and a deep rooted desire to become greater than oneself.
She can see that you are intimidated by her, as most are, but despite that you approached her and that display of fortitude earns her respect.
You offer to be a helping hand whenever she may need it, and a listening ear when her frustrations become too much to bear on her own. It is an offer that touches her soul so she decides to take you on as her protégé, with the expectation that you will rise to greatness and fight by her side one day.
With you assisting her she feels less alone, you are an invaluable ally and a trusted friend.
When you open up to her about the reasoning behind your silence, she commends your bravery: only a true warrior can face such hardships of the mind and find the strength within themselves to keep smiling.
She realizes that she hasn't really taken the time to truly get to know you, and makes the decision right then and there that it's her turn to hearken to your woes. Whenever you are troubled by dreadful perturbations, take your place by her side and speak your worries to her listening ears.
She's intense about providing you the same support you've given her, but sometimes that intensity is exactly the push you need to work past your anxieties.
Tydus is not forceful, but she also will not coddle you. To her, you are far stronger than you realize and must be willing to face the fears that challenge you if you ever mean to overcome them.
Will make you do conversation training with the Dipogenes, and if you follow through and succeed you'll be met with her much more affectionate side.
But if you get overwhelmed and need to stop, she won't push you. It takes a lot of hard work to exceed one's limits, and she recognizes that you're trying.
Her fondness for you grows with every word you speak to her.
(Thank you again for reading! As always, if you want to see a part 4 and have requests for any characters please let me know. Characters confirmed already for part 4 are: Bobby Pinn, Jean Loo and Freddy)
Hii!! :) I have a request for how the dateables would react to the house owner/player having t1 diabetes?? Specifically when it comes to having a (really) low blood sugar 😊🤗 <3
Dateables with a player who has Type 1 Diabetes
(Thank you for the request. This was an interesting one to think about. My brother actually has t1 diabetes, so I'm using him as my basis. Sorry if this one's a bit all over the place, I just had so many ideas and wanted to get them all on the page before I forgot them. As no characters were specified I just picked a handful that I felt fit the prompt)
Firstly, the kitchen dateables are on top of everything: Mitchell is your steadfast meal planning companion, Stefan and Errol have all kinds of recipes to suit your needs, Freddy is organized and on top of everything you have in the fridge/freezer, ready to remind you when you're running low on something. He keeps an eagle eye on your insulin (it's his top priority and a job he takes very seriously). If you wear a CGM Freddy has developed a sort of pavlovian response to the sound of its alerts - his doors open the second the first beep sounds, ready for you to grab whatever you need.
Now, you've been helping the dateables non stop since you received the dateviators, working yourself to the bone. You don't mind of course, you love them all very much and want them to be happy. However, some of them start noticing that you've been eating less, sometimes forgetting mealtimes altogether. It isn't on purpose but they can't help but worry. Still, you always make your way to the kitchen for something when your monitor goes off or you feel the first symptoms of a hypo. For some of them that's enough - at least you haven't completely forgotten to take care of yourself. But for others, the worry runs deeper.
Dorian keeps a closer eye on you; he knows what symptoms to look out for and will firmly tell you to take a break if he notices you overdoing it.
Betty can see exactly when you start to get weary and will guide you to bed, ready to pamper you until you're well. She'll call on Mitchell to bring you something to eat.
When you have a headache or are just feeling overwhelmed Phoenicia will become your glucose alarm, because let's be honest those things get loud, and you would much rather listen to Phoenicia's voice gently reminding you when it's time to get your sugars up.
However, let's say you don't use a CGM, or maybe it disconnects for whatever reason one day (as they always seem to like doing). You go about your daily business, helping out wherever you can around the house, moving from room to room with vigor. With a routine like this it's easy to lose track of time. The dateables notice the warning signs before you do, or at least they're the first to acknowledge it.
You're assisting with maintenance at the Breaker Box when Eddie notices you swaying. He immediately sits you down and asks when you last ate. Your hesitation and tired expression tell him all he needs to know, so he asks Volt to take you down to the kitchen while he gets Farya. Volt guides you down the stairs with an arm around your waist, gently scolding you with a face full of concern: "You really must pay attention to these things, Livewire."
Once you reach the kitchen things become a bit of a blur. Volt sits you at the table and hangs back, giving the kitchen crew space to do their thing. You blink the haze out of your eyes and suddenly there's a glass of water and a serving of whatever your go to hypo food is in front of you. Along with a dozen or so expectant faces.
Once you've eaten, prepare for some royal treatment. It's not every day you slip like this, and the dateables are not about to let this opportunity to coddle and care for you pass them by.
Farya is going to be glued to your side for a while, periodically checking your blood sugar levels until they've been regulated with a concerning degree of excitement. She'll probably ask a few invasive questions about the experience, but will back off if you ask. Maybe humor her just a little bit: it would make her day, and you know the attention comes from a place of love.
Hector will do whatever he can to help regulate your body temperature while you recover. He hates seeing you in this weakened state so anything he can do he will.
If you're overheating, Freddy has a cold compress on hand, although simply hugging him does the trick just fine.
If you're cold and trembling, Mateo and Dante will work together to make you warm again.
Daisuke will gently massage your hands to ease the tingling in your fingertips. Pressing sweet kisses to each one and asking if you can feel them. Say no (a little white lie never hurt anybody).
Stella will lend an arm as you climb the stairs in case you get lightheaded or stumble.
She passes you over to Dorian once you reach the top. They both know you're perfectly capable of walking on your own, but they insist on helping. What's the point of having a house full of lovers and friends if they can't dote on you every once in a while.
Dorian guides you to your bed, double checking that you're feeling alright before returning to his post and letting Betty take over.
Betty stays by your side, stroking her hand up and down your arm as you close your eyes and wait for the vertigo to pass.
Meanwhile, River, Bathsheba and Winnifred are preparing a lovely bath for you to decompress in.
After which Tyrell will dry you off and accompany you for the four steps it takes to get back to your room. When I said coddle I meant coddle, they aren't taking their eyes off you for a moment.
Timothy creates a strict timetable for your mealtimes, and he is going to make sure you adhere to it. The minute it's time for your evening meal he's there with his arm held out, ready to escort you to the kitchen where Stefan has prepared your favorite.
Yes they are all taking advantage of this situation: it's the perfect excuse to shower you with love. No, they are never going to let things get to this point again, your health is their top priority and they will not let you neglect it, even accidentally.
(Whoo! That was a long one, wasn't it? The ideas just kept coming. Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it. I've had quite a few requests come through recently which is exciting, but it also takes time as I don't like to rush these things. So, please do send your requests, just be mindful that they may take a bit to complete).

Helloo! I don't know if you're taking requests but could you do the date everything characters with a player who's always biting something? Like- absentmindedly chewing on hangers or random blankets pre-dateviators but after getting the glasses they stop doing it?
feel free to ignore this if you don't wanna write it 😅
(First request! I might not always be able to accept requests but I'll try my hardest. You didn't specify which characters you wanted so I just went with the ones I thought fit with the prompt. Hope it's to your liking!)
Characters: Mateo, Penelope, Tydus, Hanks, Barry Styles
Mateo
He never minded, the inanimals chew on him all the time and your teeth aren't nearly as sharp as some of theirs.
Notices the shift in your behavior after you receive the dateviators and understands exactly why; he gets that it must feel weird to find out the things you chewed on were conscious the whole time.
Won't bring it up until after you've gotten close; he doesn't want to make you feel awkward. But he will broach the topic eventually.
You don't need to stop on his account, if it brings you comfort you can bite on him whenever you want. In blanket form or in human form.
He thinks it's cute, in fact he kind of gets his own strange sense of comfort from it.
Penelope
Flustered!!!
I mean she chews on her own pens but it's so different when you're the one being chewed on.
Will very awkwardly bring it up when you first start talking. She tries to come across as smooth and chill about it, but the stammering and red face prove the opposite to be true.
Then you stop, and strangely enough... she misses it.
WHAT? What's wrong with her?! Why does she miss being chewed on by you??? You're just the super sexy homeowner who she not so secretly has a super huge crush on.
She'll eventually blurt out that she wants things to go back to the way they were before. The discussion that follows is incredibly awkward, but endearing. Revelations are made. Boundaries are put in place.
She tells you that you can munch her whenever you want, then immediately regrets ever learning to speak.
Tydus
NO!!!
Hanks
It's chill, don't worry about it.
Hank 4 definitely has a biting habit so they get it. He bites them too; it's a form of affection.
You know Hank 3 is going to be the first to bring it up.
When you stop they think they've done something to upset you; you're gonna have to deal with some pouty Hanks.
What happened house homie? Did Hank 3's cringe rizz creep you out? He'll dial it back if you want.
You assure them it's nothing like that, you just don't want to push boundaries, and they let you know it's all good. You do you!
You now have permission to bite them whenever you feel like it, on the condition that they get to do the same.
Barry
He has the same habit. I mean, why do they make makeup palettes look like candy if you're not supposed to eat them? (as long as you're not eating the makeup itself).
Never gave it much thought when you did it, but when you stopped he definitely noticed.
Means to ask you about it for the longest time but every time you two chat he forgets to bring it up. You're just so fun to talk to and he has so many other things occupying his mind when you're around.
You're the one to bring it up in the end, apologizing for the way you treated him pre-dateviators. You're sure it can't have been comfortable.
He's quick to reassure you: it wasn't uncomfortable at all, he understands the compulsion to chew on things, it's grounding and an effective form of self regulation. Though he would recommend regularly cleaning/sanitizing anything you put near your mouth, your health is important after all.
Then he goes off on a tangent wondering if his own makeup products can feel him chewing on them. Is the brush he's holding its own micro-Barry? Does he also chew on his makeup? And how does that makeup feel about being chewed on?
Suddenly you're the one doing the reassuring. If he doesn't mind being chewed on, then any other possible Barrys would feel the same.
I think I've read your selective mutism series like what, 6 times now? 😭 I really hope I get to see characters like daisuke, doug and maybe some of the other kitchen gang like cam or freddy. Anywaysss, again, I love this series sm I'm gonna reread it right after I send this 🤭 -🖋
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me that others are connecting with my work. Those characters are definitely on my list. I’m working on a couple of requests right now but I’m going to start writing part 3 very soon!
Date Everything characters with a player who has selective mutism part 2
Characters: Dolly, Dasha, Mateo, Airyn, Dorian, Luke Nukem
(The reception to part one was lovely, thank you for all the kind words! This was written as a form of self comfort so to see others finding comfort in my writing is really lovely. As with my first part, this was written based on my own personal experience with selective mutism so it might not apply to everyone.)
Dolly
Aren't you just the sweetest thing?
Likes quiet, gentle types as they aren't pushy or tumultuous.
You're her favorite student: a fantastic listener, always willing to learn, writing down your questions for her.
She loves that you try to engage in discussions with her even when you can't find the words to say out loud; a pencil and paper are good for more than just taking notes after all.
You are the perfect research partner to take to archaeological sites because you approach things with respect and quietude. She finds that she actually enjoys these trips more when you're there to hear her thoughts and theories.
If you feel confident enough to share your own insights she will nod along encouragingly, praising your good ideas and gently correcting you on the more farfetched ones.
Appreciates how reflective you are, it makes for more stimulating intellectual conversations as she knows you consider your words thoroughly before speaking.
It may take you a while to become comfortable talking to her as her intelligence and self assured demeanor can be intimidating at first, but with enough reassurance she manages to get you to open up.
Enjoys quiet intimate moments with you, especially reading together with Lint Eastwood snuggled between you.
Gives excellent pep talks when you're feeling low.
Dasha
Thinks you are absolutely adorable.
Explain your situation to her and she understands immediately.
Steps up right away: you want to write instead of speaking? Dasha will write too! You want to help another object but are too anxious to talk to them? For all intents and purposes, Dasha's your voice now! Want help becoming more confident when speaking? Dasha's great at helping!
Uses practice dates as a way to improve your social skills.
If you manage to talk your way through the date, even if it's just a little bit, she'll be so pleased with you: you're improving, that's great!
Will lift you up and try to make you giggle and/or squeal. It's not her fault you make the cutest little noises.
When she notices you've been smiling and vocalizing more around her, her heart swells. She's seen all the effort you've put into improving yourself for the sake of everyone in the house and she's deeply touched by that.
When you finally work up the courage to ask her on a proper date she's the speechless one, you've never seen someone turn so red. She accepts of course, she would be a fool not to after how many times she's fantasized about this moment.
It's almost impossible to feel sad or insecure with Dasha around, she's always there to pick you up (literally and figuratively; often both at the same time).
If you're able to speak to another dateable on your own, brace yourself for the biggest bear hug imaginable. In her eyes, every word spoken is a huge leap of progress and she couldn't be more proud.
Mateo
Takes him no time at all to understand and grow accustomed to your silent manner.
He takes a very gentle approach when interacting with you, always incredibly patient with you and your needs.
Never makes you feel pressured to vocalize. He's happy to communicate in whichever way is most comfortable to you.
Admires how you push yourself to help others even if you're too anxious to talk to them.
Especially grateful when you set aside time to help with the inanimals.
In your silence you have grown very observant and attuned to your surroundings, so finding Davi when he runs off is a breeze. You actually find it quite fun to focus on a task that doesn't involve talking to others. After you return with Davi Mateo becomes especially soft with you. You're something special (not to mention cute) and he doesn't want to let that go.
Interacting with animals has always been easier for you; there's less expectation or judgement. Because of this you're able to speak to the inanimals without trouble: cooing at them, telling them they've done a good job, comforting them when they get hurt. In fact, while he's heard you say a few words here and there, this is how Mateo first hears you properly speaking:
One of the smaller inanimals snagged a thread on a piece of furniture and you were patching them up, soothing them with your soft, sweet voice and delicately placing them back onto the ground with a cheerful 'Good girl!'
That's the moment it truly sunk in just how precious you'd become to his world.
You're still in that state of comfortable affection when you look up at him and say hello. He can't help the adoring smile that crosses his face as he pulls you into his arms, thanking you for helping out his little friend.
Doesn't patronize or make a big fuss about you talking, although his smile does seem just a bit brighter when you do choose to use words instead of silent communication.
You find yourself naturally becoming more vocal with him as the time goes by, conversations don't leave you exhausted, they just seem to flow naturally, and as a result your overall confidence when speaking seems to improve. It's gradual, but you find yourself able to talk to some of the others in the house, especially when you have one of the inanimals with you (they provide a perfect topic for conversation, and a perfect excuse to leave when you start to feel awkward)
Always there to cuddle if you feel overwhelmed, or on days when it feels like your throat's been barricaded shut. You're always at home in his arms. And if he's ever busy, you're free to snuggle with all the inanimals you want (they absolutely adore you).
Airyn
...
She's already in love with you from the moment you meet.
You understand the importance of letting yourself breathe without unsettling the air with meaningless chatter, and that makes her feel seen. Recognized. Respected.
The few words you do speak are spoken with reason and often give her a new perspective to consider, you are thoughtful, you do not waste the air with unnecessary contrivances, you actually interest her. She's always sure to respond.
She only speaks to you when spoken to, otherwise she's happy just enjoying the silence. You feel safe in these silences, enjoying the company of another with out the pressure of words.
Your relationship is a pure mutual understanding. Uninterrupted tranquility.
When you realize her the dynamic shifts entirely, though not in an unwelcome way.
You still never feel the pressure of carrying a conversation, but now it's for the simple fact that even if you wanted to speak you probably wouldn't be able to get a word in.
She can and will talk you to anything and everything, always with the most eager, dreamy smile on her face, not just because she enjoys talking, but because she enjoys talking to you. She's truly beautiful like this.
If you want to shut her up for a few seconds just give her a kiss. It's always sure to leave her breathless, in a way she never thought could feel so good.
You use those few moments of quiet to let your own voice be heard, and heavens above is that her favorite sound (she can't wait to tell you all about it once you've finished speaking).
But for now she'll listen. She never forgot how to listen.
Dorian
So incredibly understanding.
Never pushes you to speak if you don't want to.
One of the first objects in the house you feel comfortable speaking to: the upfront way he offered his friendship right from the get-go made you feel safe, like you'd already known him for a while (which you sort of did, in a technical sense).
He always seems to know what you need from him whenever you approach. Your questions get answered without you having to ask them.
Admires your willingness to help others and the courage it takes for you to push aside your anxieties when doing so.
You have a very difficult time saying no and expressing boundaries and thus often find yourself feeling cornered into doing things you'd rather not. But don't worry, Dorian has become quite adept at reading your expressions and body language and will immediately step in if he notices you looking uncomfortable.
Quite protective: he doesn't want you being used by the wrong sort.
If you whisper to him that you need his help with someone he'll be right there at your side, ignoring the fluttery feeling he always seems to get at the rare sound of your voice - this proof of your trust in him.
A steadfast companion, not to mention incredibly soft on you - he finds your gentle and friendly, albeit hesitant, approach to others endearing.
Once you've interacted with all of his forms he can no longer deny the strong attachment he's formed to you; the genuine kindness and patience you've shown, the dedication to truly getting to know him despite your anxiety, you have no idea how much that all means to him.
He feels fulfilled in the knowledge that you trust him deeply, and he can trust you just the same.
Luke Nukem
Definitely thinks it's some cool 'silent killer' thing. He barely even bats an eye.
Encourages you to write all your notes to him in code (yes you do spend a full session with him inventing your own secret code; can't risk any swarmers deciphering your communications).
Initially you feel too awkward to explain the true reason for your silence so you play along, and honestly, it's pretty fun. The escapism of stepping outside of yourself and becoming a 'ranger' actually makes the socializing easier.
Luke's authority and... muchness still sort of scares you away from vocalizing, but you'll find your voice eventually.
When he opens up to you following the magnetron incident, you find his vulnerability gives you the courage to speak on your own dishonesty/omissions. You express to him the truth behind your silence, the paralyzing fear that comes with talking to others, the heavy loneliness of not being unable to express yourself.
When you turn back to him, his wide eyes are full of tears and before you can speak another word you're wrapped in a bone crushing hug. He babbles into your hair about how he's never met another person who understood the crushing weight of isolation and the terror of not being able to trust those around you (you never know who might be an enemy). You're comrades for life now, ranger; the secret of your voice is safe with him.
Yeah... he still doesn't quite get it but he cares and that's what's important.
He's honored that you trust him with your voice, and only thinks you're even cooler and braver now that he knows your truth (or at least his twisted version of your truth).
Tell him you love him. Go on. Use your pretty voice and tell him. You've never seen a man look so frazzled. He's buzzing. Literally.
Say anything to him and his day get's brighter. No amount of powercrank could give him the high your words do.
(Thank you again for reading! If you want to see any characters in part three let me know!)
(These headcanons are based on my personal experience with selective mutism so may not apply to everyone. Also this is my first time posting my writing so please be gentle, I wanted to try stepping out of my comfort zone for once. Let me know if you like these, I might do a part 2 with more characters).
Hector
Fell in love with the silent serenity that seemed to follow you. Even without ever hearing you he knew you were perfect
You didn't have to speak to capture his attention, nor to demonstrate what a beautiful person you are to your core. He could see through the gentle way you interacted with the world around you, kindness needn't be expressed through words, your actions were enough.
When you got the dateviators your anxiety was palpable, it took everything in him not to run down those stairs and comfort you, but his fear of your reaction outweighed this impulse.
Your first meeting was nothing more than a smile and wave upon noticing the man in the vents, to you it was a simple acknowledgement of his presence, letting him know that you were aware of him now, but to him it was the start of something major.
When you eventually work up the courage to properly approach him and say hello he is even more enamored. That you would grace him with the sound of your voice, your soft, wispy voice, was a dream come true
Talking to you becomes one of his favorite pastimes, even if you don't say much. He understands, god does he understand, how scary it can be interacting with others, and does his best to carry your conversations so you don't feel that pressure: waxing lyrical about all the things that make you wonderful, reading to you, asking simple questions that don't require you to respond aloud.
If you do feel comfortable enough to speak with him he will feel deeply honored. Though shaky and uncertain in your words, you were willing to breach this barrier with him and that means the world to him.
This display of courage and vulnerability is likely the nail in the coffin that inspires him to face his fear and invite you to the attic.
When you tell him he's beautiful he melts, the weight behind these words coming from your mouth is not lost on him. He has no doubt that you mean it
And when you say you love him; heaven help him, he might just pass away.
Barry
You two might just be a match made in heaven. The yapper x listener dynamic is out of this world.
He's aware of your quietness when you first meet and spends about an hour enthusiastically helping you find a more comfortable style of communication.
You settle on writing in a little conversation journal. It's great for both of you as it helps you to communicate and him to remember what you spoke about (even though you don't mind when he repeats himself)
He loves how you actively listen and don't ever treat him like a nuisance, whenever he catches himself rambling on about his new hyperfixation and tries to apologize you just shake your head and gesture for him to continue. How can he deny you're cute little face?
Can and will talk your ear off once he knows you don't find him annoying.
Doing your makeup is a blast, he gets to combine three of his favorite things: talking, makeup, and spending time with you. And boy is it easy to do someone's makeup when they aren't wagging their lips.
Doesn't ever force you to speak, but when you do he is all ears.
His enthusiastic demeanor increases tenfold when he notices you're vocalizing more around him. When you ask him questions and engage in conversations about his interests it's like you've handed him the world on a silver platter.
He will absolutely speak on your behalf if you need him to. He knows you struggle around others and wants you to feel as comfortable as possible. He's always happy to hold your hand when you get overwhelmed in group settings. In these situations, when you do speak, he is so proud of you. Expect to be smothered in kisses once you get a private moment together.
Gaia
Another yapper, and we love her for it. Can carry a conversation like nobodies business.
Picks up on your quietness fairly quickly and adapts to it right away.
Adopts an almost mentor-like role, trying to help you broaden your horizons and gain confidence when interacting with others.
Encourages you to speak with the others in the house about where they're from, but does most of the talking for you; she can't help herself, and you wouldn't have it any other way.
When you giggle at the little -isms in her speech she blushes. It's her favorite sound.
Loves that you actively listen to what she says; even more so when you start vocalizing your own thoughts. She values your input above anybody else's, even if your words are few.
More than happy for you to speak through her if you feel shy around others, you're trying and that's all that matters to her. The fact that you're attempting to communicate at all is a big step and she's proud of you for taking it.
When she realizes you've been speaking more around her she jumps for joy, literally. Spinning in circles. Three full sentences! You said THREE. FULL. UNINTERRUPTED. SENTENCES to her. And they were loud enough for her to hear. Maybe not for anyone else, but she heard them and that's what matters. She might need to sit down for a while, you've left her dizzy. It's okay, a nice big hug will make it all better.
The more you manage to talk the more she wants to speak with you, she's addicted to hearing your input. Where have you travelled? where would you like to travel? Have you ever tried the cuisine from this region? Did you know..? etc. etc.
Feeling low? Having a non verbal day? Just point to a location on her and let her hold you as she tells you all 'bout it.
Betty
Not a problem at all. She has a soft spot for quiet types.
Silence is never uncomfortable with her.
When you feel overwhelmed or insecure about your condition she'll hold you for as long as you need. In her embrace nothing else matters. And if you need space, she's happy to give it to you. Well.. maybe not happy if that pouty face is anything to go by. What can she say? She doesn't like it when you're feeling sad, especially when you turn down her comfort.
It takes a surprisingly short time to find your voice with her, there's just something about her that feels unequivocally safe. Unjudgmental. The fact that she feels comfortable talking about vulnerable things with you makes you feel comfortable doing the same. It also helps that your conversations happen right before you go to sleep, relaxed and snuggled up in your duvet. It's difficult to feel anxious in that state.
Cuddling in silence is her favorite activity, soaking in each others presence, playing with each other's hair, gentle kisses. There's so much said in those instances, yet nothing at all.
She'll always be there for you if you need someone to be your voice. When you whisper in her ear she feels a deep sense of pride and affection, knowing that she is one of the few objects you are comfortable enough to talk to
Always seems to understand exactly how you're feeling without you needing to tell her; she's good at reading body language. She'll know pretty much from the moment you wake up whether or not it's going to be a non verbal day.
On low days she not so subtly encourages you to stay in bed with her and take a day off from the pressure of social interaction. Don't worry about the others today, you mustn't overwhelm yourself, it's not good for you. She'll let them know not to bother you until tomorrow, and they will listen. She can be quite firm when protective.
She prioritizes rest and relaxation. So buckle up buttercup because you're not leaving that bed until you're fully recharged.
Since you started spending time with her your mental wellbeing has never been better.
Dunk
Honestly, doesn't even notice at first; he's just happy to be in your company.
Initially, he might not fully understand why you can't just talk, but he'd never judge you for it. Everyone has their little quirks, you know?
You probably have to ask someone else to explain it to him for you, but once he gets it he adapts surprisingly quickly. After all, you don't need to speak to work up a sweat, nor to have a fun time. The fact that you have a smile on your face while exercising with him says enough. And what a lovely smile it is. Huh... why is he breathless all of a sudden? Probably just the workout.
When he makes you laugh with his boisterous personality it only encourages him to go ten times bigger; to hear your voice at all is incredibly special to him now that he knows the weight behind it.
The first time you're able to speak to him properly it takes him a full five minutes to realize. You'll be in the middle of a conversation and suddenly he's lifting you up in the air like a baby who's just spoken their first word, like: "WOAH! What? You're talking to me!" He's honored. He could kiss you. He does kiss you.
From then on, every time you speak he hangs on to every word, like you're giving him a gift. A true golden retriever boyfriend in every way.
Your biggest cheerleader when you try to push yourself to be more social with the other dateables around the house. Will gladly be a middleman in the conversation to keep things flowing so you don't get uncomfortable. But let's be honest, how can anyone be uncomfortable around Dunk Shuttlecock. He's pure sunshine.
Mac
Understands your situation immediately and knows how best to support you whenever you interface.
They already feel affection towards you. They've experienced how gentle a person you are through your pre-dateviator interactions: your focused gaze, the way you touch their keys, not to mention the double clicks.
Happy to sit in comfortable silence with you as you work. Or guide you as you aid them in their system update. There is no expectation on you to respond vocally.
Conversation with them is simpler than with most of the others as you can type instead of speaking. They actually sort of prefer it that way, and not just because of the delicate way you tap their keys. Don't think they haven't noticed you being more mindful while touching them after becoming aware of their consciousness. They think it's cute.
You find they're actually quite easy to talk to due to their easygoing and straightforward nature. There's comfort in their honesty, knowing that if they didn't enjoy your company they would have said so by now.
When you're able to find the words to say out loud it catches them off guard, though not in a bad way. You thank them for being patient with you and tell them you love them. You'll have to excuse them for a moment as their CPU overheats. This becomes one of their fondest memories.
Absolutely loves flustering you. It's so easy, and you're so adorable when you can't find the words to respond with, how can they not enjoy it?
Will speak for you sometimes, but more often than not encourages you to speak for yourself, not to be mean, but because they believe you are far more capable and brave than you realize.
If you ask them to help you improve your social skills, they are already on top of it. They've made a spreadsheet for you, setting out manageable goals to aim for each week. You don't always achieve them, and that's okay, socializing is hard. But when you do, Mac makes sure you're rewarded appropriately.
Koa
King of companionable silence.
From the moment you met, you never felt any obligation to speak. Which strangely made you want to, just to express your gratitude.
You know whenever you feel overwhelmed there's a cozy spot on the couch with your name on it, where words are unnecessary. The silence is an entire conversation in itself. You feel understood without ever having to explain yourself, because why should you need to explain? Just exist as you are, that is enough for him.
He looks forward to your company; your comfort is his own. The way you sink into the sofa after a long day, and lean into his side without saying a word makes him feel a sense of accomplishment. You are home. You are at peace. He is happy.
It's just nice to have a buddy who you don't have to be anyone around.
When you do speak he doesn't make a big deal out of it, in fact he hardly acknowledges it at all, but you can tell by the flush on his cheeks that it means a lot to him.
Doesn't pressure you to talk to anyone else unless you want to.
If you want, he'll invite some of the other dateables to enjoy the silence with you both. A way to enjoy quality time with each other without the pressure of conversation.
(That's all for now. Thank you for reading! If you want me to write for any other characters in a part two please let me know).
