Rio Olho d’água is the tributary of Rio da Prata, which is located in Mato Grosso do Sul, on the border with Bonito. The region is one of the most important eco-tourism areas in Brazil with its crystal-clear waters and beautiful natural landscapes such as waterfalls, caves and forests.

FINALLY worked out what I’m putting in the 6’ planted scape: it’s going to be a danio tank!

Flow is mild/moderate, and the planting should fill in to be quite heavy, so I’m looking specifically at Celestichthys erythromycron, Celestichthys choprae and Brachydanio quagga. The latter two can be fab in hillstreams, but usually come from slower-moving areas in the wild, so this amount of flow should suit them.

Temp at the moment is 24C, but I’ll lower that to 22C once the plants have grown in a bit more. Water’s a little too hard, right now, so I’ll soften it a little with RO.
