Nah, just tiny little droids designed to assist with basic tasks. Doesn't stop the crew from getting attached, though. Imposters too.

The crew of The Skeld, lead by Captain Red, are a team of researchers for the MIRA Corporation, visiting distant planets in order to study extraterrestrial phenomenon. This includes a particular yet-to-be-named alien parasite that's apparently valuable to MIRA.

Of course, disaster strikes. While everyone is asleep the ship's systems are tampered with, of note being the ship's Communications and FTL drive, meaning the crew is stuck wherever they happen to be until they can get things fixed. With the alien parasite's cage being broken, it's clear what happened. Only now they have to figure out which among them is host to the parasite.

Each chapter of the fic would be a different "round", with the imposter(s) being a different crewmate each time.

I don't mind spoiling it since I already said it in the initial post, but the whole "multiple rounds" thing is discovered to be a time loop caused by the broken FTL drive doing some non-specific sci-fi nonsense, and the main goal of each chapter goes from being "survive the imposter" to "how do we escape the time loop?"

Most other cartoons would try to squeeze as much potential out of a character before permanently killing them off, but that's the joke here. Pomni will never see Gummigoo again, and the claims that "Caine likes to reuse NPCs sometimes" is both to get Pomni's hopes up as well as the audience.

Goldie: Kind of an asshole and finds the worst in things, all while claiming he's "just trying to help". You're not helping people by insulting them, jerk.
