Wow, now there's a bot going around on Ao3 telling people that the "moderators" will delete works from "deprecated" fandoms and impose bans.
Fearmongering bullshit, but it's fearmongering bullshit that seems to be taking advantage of the recent spotlight series in order to trick authors into deleting their fics.
Just. Why.
What the hell does anyone get out of making these bots.
There's a theory already that this makes it easier for copyright infringers to steal fanfics because you can't prove the authorship of a deleted work.
This is pure evil
Spread the word
p.s. The comments look something like this:
p.p.s. There's no "new" policy that bans original works, either. Everything that was allowed, is still allowed. This is a "please read our TOS ffs" awareness campaign - not a surprise rugpull. Don't delete anything, please. It's an archive.
Everything that was allowed, is still allowed
Murderbot fic idea:
Dr. Ratthi goes on a research survey with non-Preservation researchers. They're on a very inhospitable planet, with lots of superstorms and poison gas. They have a little hub that they stay in and do their work from, with short expeditions outside in protective gear.
And then in a stroke of genuine bad luck, their transport off planet, communication relays, and some life support functions are destroyed in a storm. Almost all of them are convinced they're going to starve to death and die.
All of them except Dr. Ratthi, who is completely chill. They dismiss his certainty that they'll be rescued as him just being a naive optimist from a backwater polity who doesn't know the first thing about real life.
He keeps insisting, "Oh, don't worry, my friends will come get us!" Even though they'll run out of water and food before anyone even notices that something is wrong.
And then in the middle of the fourth day after the accident, during yet another superstorm, someone knocks on the entrance.
It's straight out of a horror movie. They should be alone on this planet. They should be alone. There is a deadly storm outside. Nothing human can be out there, and yet something is at their door.
They know it's not a rescue. A rescue would be coming from off-planet, and there is no one, nothing, that would have the calculation ability to safely navigate a hopper through those winds -
And while they're almost all frozen, processing their terror and the implications, Dr. Ratthi jumps up, and goes to cycle the habitat's airlock to let whatever it is in. He's all happy golden-retriever energy, all "I told you my friends were coming! I can't wait for you to meet them!"
And before anyone can stop him -
Two SecUnits enter. Two SecUnits that have to be rogue, based off of their literally everything.
This really does feel like the start of a horror movie, or maybe the middle of a horror movie, complete with the scene where a dumbass lets the monster in, but then -
One of the SecUnits immediately starts yelling at Ratthi about stupid planets and stupid lowest-bidder equipment and stupid safety protocols and stupid humans who accept stupid research missions.
The other is like. "We should leave soon. The transport is irate, and the longer we spend here, the less concerned it will be with our comfort when it calculates our ascent through the atmosphere."
And that's how Dr. Ratthi's colleagues find out that this guy, this naive-from-middle-of-nowhere guy, somehow has best friends who are overprotective constructs. And at least one of those friends may have chipped him like a dog.
Please tag me if you write this!!
I got permission to use this idea for writing a fic, I'll tag you if I remember, depends on how long it takes me to write. But I've jotted down your username!
OK, so I know I have stated previously that I am not going to be giving this my full attention until early 2026, however this idea won't leave my head, and since multiple people have requested I add them to the tag list I've decided to post snippets here as I write them instead of just spamming my DMs with @tinysugacube. So, @megamindsupremacy @aroaceauri @cosmi-latte @thoughts-of-a-cryptid @thesilverhunt3r @silvergryphonart @onebird28 @juny-in-the-citycounty @oldladynerd @parlezvousladybug and of course OP @stormsthatrage here is your first snippet:
You are worried about your humans. ART said to me through the feed. They are prone to getting into improbable and dangerous situations. I answered. That is worry. It replied. Okay yes, I am worried. I told it. Are you happy? I was irritated, and I knew it could tell. I have a solution. ART told me. What is it? I asked suspiciously. When I was worried about you, I inserted a com that was also a tracking device. After my humans were captured, I developed something similar that could be applied to humans, not only constructs or bots. You chipped them. I nodded. That idea has promise, so long as you don’t go around giving the coordinates to murderous hostiles. That was one time. ART replied flatly. You need to let it go. I made a rude gesture that is considered offensive in several polities and explicitly illegal in at least four. Three, who had just walked into the area where I had been sitting, was confused. "Have I done something wrong?" It asked anxiously. Three was still getting used to being a person, and I felt bad for making it more anxious than it normally was. "No, it’s not you." I glared up at where I knew one of ART’s cameras and then opened a feed connection for the three of us. ART is being an asshole. Again. You know I am right. ART insisted. And I would never hurt your humans. They are my humans now too. Alright, I see your point. We’ll chip them. Chip who? Three asked. The humans. They are prone to getting kidnapped, and the preservation alliance humans in particular have very little self-preservation and knowledge. That makes sense, Three replied thoughtfully. Especially Ratthi, given he’s going on that Corporation Rim operated survey mission. He’s doing what? I glared. I don’t know all the details, I just heard him talking to Dr. Mensah. Something about deep cover? Three answered, a little unsure. Ugh. Humans. He gets at least three. Agreed. ART couldn’t nod, but I got the sense that if it could have, it would have done so just now.
that one exchange in fugitive telemetry

Theres one line in the books (i forget where, i gave my copies back to the library) where Murderbot says something along the lines of "ARTs reply doesnt translate to human words, but trust me that it was very rude"
And it has convinced me that they cuss each other out using archaic malware attacks
Consider:
Or possibly:
Or perhaps even:
you are FUCKING UP this JOB INTERVIEW!!!!!!
My conclusion having read tmbd
ART being brought back in NE. To me. If you even care
wait murderbot's mentioned once or twice that secunits were "originally designed for" stuff like de-escalation, quick and efficient rescues, absolute minimum force and the like. ive always wondered why exactly they were designed with human faces in the first place given they're mainly used to enforce corporate slavery and having visibly expressed emotions is a detriment to that. but it would make sense if they were "meant" to be used in more of a rescue capacity, where showing empathy and being visibly familiar would be advantageous. anyway this leads into: if secunits' emotional capacity and skillset are geared towards rescue and they're used as enforcers of abuse.... well it does explain something about how fucked up they are

It kills me how SecUnit is this big, scary thing with literal weapons in it’s arms, capable of insane feats of physical strength, nigh on impossible to stop or kill, capable of hacking it’s way into most systems, can lose most of it’s body mass and vital fluids and keep going, can remove its own limbs, records and analyzes everything, eyes and ears in a thousand places at once, smarter, faster, stronger, and more capable than a human could ever be, utterly disgusted with most human things and
It loves a trashy soap opera. It’s so soft and gentle with an injured Volescu. It’s favorite human is a middle aged mom who drives carefully and mom friends at her friends and coworkers. It’s so delicate and considerate with Mensah’s kids. It lets Tapan sleep touching it and turns up it's body heat for extra comfort. It likes plays and musical theatre. It's best human friend is a sunshine nerd from Planet Hippy. It keeps a diary. It doesn’t understand the appeal of human adolescents but it’s so good with Amena. It likes decidedly unrealistic media. It cares so much about humans that it’s never met and wants to keep them safe and happy. It gently frets over Three just minutes after meeting it. It gets flustered and confused when complimented or treated with care. It offers to free other constructs, even while actively fighting them. It has criticisms and strong opinions on media. It’s shy. It “hacks” its way into things by asking the relevant bots to be friends and share media. It only ever really scares Amena when she witnesses it's wild grief over losing ART. It stops, gets back in control, and explains immediately when it realizes it’s causing her distress. It lets ART make media requests, pauses to let it process its own emotions, and re-watches certain scenes over and over again until it’s happy, mere moments after ART scares it so badly it goes nearly catatonic, simply because ART asked. It grieves Miki even though it never really liked the bot in the first place. It’s uncomfortable with physical touch but offers to let Mensah hug it and lets her grab its arm when she’s in distress.
It was created for destruction and violence and pain. It’s the epitome of unstoppable, unkillable, inescapable, inhumane force in every horrific dystopia ever. It is not human and does not want to be. It’s got the abilities of an overpowered superhero. It's a living deux ex machina. It’s actually so soft and gentle and filled to bursting with love for small, soft, silly things and people

Apple TV Murderbot + Text posts
Do you ever think about how mythical and godlike Murderbot must be to the other rogue secunits in Platform Decay? More importantly do you think they all have a crush on it??? *murderbot shoots me with a sniper rifle killing me instantly*
[ID: A Murderbot Diaries comic set in Platform Decay. A Secunit looks out warily before entering a door surrounded by foliage into a room with a poster that says "Welcome to the Rogue Secunits Lair" and a poster with a picture of Three that says "viva la threevolution". It pings another Secunit, who's kicking back on a couch and watching a security feed plus "Human Fails Pt.17" and running lounging.exe. It exclaims, "Hey! You're back early!"
The first Secunit sits down with a perturbed expression, and the second asks, "What's wrong?" The first says, "I..." It turns with a giddy blush and smile. "... I think I just met the rogue Secunit." The second, in shock: "You mean--" The first: "Yeah." The second: "No way."
It asks, with sparkles floating around it, "Did it say anything to you?" The first has hearts floating around it and its hands raised excitedly to its face as it replies, "It sent me these"--it transfers YouCantSeeMe.code, WeaponsWhatWeapons.code, and ActLikeAHuman_V1.code to the second--"and told me to fuck off (heart)". The second, hands pressed to its cheeks, says brightly, "Omg luckyyyy." End ID]
