So for the first of my legacy challenges, I decided to take on @appaloosawhims's Barbie Legacy challenge.

Now I'm not a big fan of mods, and nraas never works right on my computer, so there aren't gonna be any mods, it's gonna be vanilla as it gets. EA content only.

Objectives:

Complete the Surrounded by Family Lifetime Wish

You must never get a job, earn money through opportunities, painting, playing the guitar for tips, etc.

Have at least one pet

Must have the Family-Oriented and Nurturing traits.

This challenge is gonna have me messing with a lot of worlds and content that I don't normally mess with, but the biggest thing of all I don't mess with is moving worlds. Everything messes up constantly.

Generation 4 requests that you move to Isla Paradiso, so to circumvent that whole shemozzle we're just gonna have the whole family come from there in the first place.

I started off by being as true to form as was possible. Barbie has an officially licensed shade of pink so I had a blast putting together her outfits by using a color wheel to help me pick out hexcodes. This is also the Barbie I remember, a lot of really gaudy colors that were meant to complement each other rather than seem like realistic outfits or furniture. Since she was from Isla Paradiso, I also decided to theme her default outfit after gorgeous dresses from Haitian culture, but stained the bright pink of Barbie.

Her head's not that small. The lens did something weird here. Anyways, she's based on that one Tanner dog, and fulfils the pet requirement. She is

Although it's not too much, you'll find that your new Housewife Barbie has everything she needs to start training her new Tanner® Pet to go and hunt for valuables. While Housewife Barbie herself can't earn any money, Tanner can. (Wait, I saw the movie, they specifically request the opposite of this. I guess we're being true to form, I mean the movie starts with homemaker dolls I suppose...)

While they're hard at work, some assembly might be required for the Dreamhouse.

If you weren't able to buy the ten story Barbie Dreamhouse® on your shoestring budget, don't sweat it. Just toss whatever furniture you've got from all your other playsets and build something purely functional.

When that fails, you can also meet new people at the gym or while sunbathing at the park.

No one seemed to find Housewife Barbie attractive (or vice versa) in spite of putting Irresistible as her traits, and I met a lot of potential Kens. I may have to rank up her stats in Athletic (which I have to anyway, to have her live long enough to fulfill her Lifetime Wish), Social Networking, and Charisma--skills specifically tailored to finding a partner and not money, becasuse I tried this challenge before and had to terminate it because I accidentally earned money.

i'm mai (she/her) and this is my debut post in the simblr world~ how excitinggggggg

i've been wanting to start a proper simblr acc to post gameplays and related stuff for the LONGEST TIME and now i finally felt comfortable to do so.

1 Oct Update: If you're having any issues with babies moving after they are picked up from the mat, try version2 (on Box) or "noIdle" on SFS. This removes the feature where babies do idle animations on the mat. If a Sim picks them up when they are idling, they can get stuck in the animation which causes the constant movement.

This is an old-ish mod I made to satisfy my need to keep a baby in my household occupied and also prevent Sims from constantly bothering them when they're perfectly fine.

The TS3 Store playmat is yet another recycled TS2 item where EA took the mesh and little else (see More Activities Activity Table). For a "play"mat, there's absolutely no playing going on. Babies just stare into the void pondering their existence.

So I created an interaction where babies can actually play on the mat which gives them something to do and also means I can leave the baby on the mat knowing other Sims won't constantly be trying to pick them up. You have to turn the mat on in order for babies to play with it. Playtime is set to 2 hours but that's tunable.

Then TS4 Growing Together came out with a playmat that actually had some cool features like playing with babies and tummy time. So I revisited my mat and added in a couple of more features to allow other Sims to play with the baby on the mat and do tummy time.

Babies will get a positive moodlet from playing alone and playing peekaboo with others. Other Sims may get a positive moodlet if they are near the baby while the baby is playing on the mat. They will also get a positive moodlet from playing with the baby. Toddlers and up can play with the babies but only Teens+ can do tummy time.

You don't need the Store mat for this, it's its own separate download. However, I'm using a couple of sound files for toddlers (mostly the peekaboo) from the Baby Monitor or Playpen Store objects so if you don't have those, you won't hear anything.
