âŚI almost killed myself
I put on my sunglasses, to hide my swollen eyes, over my tears. I cried all my makeup off. Went inside to have a milkshake. I donât know why. I wanted something to drink as I figured out what I would do. I got a soda and a milkshake. Medium. The cashier looked at me and with a line around the corner of the counter he rushed away from the counter âHold on â he yelled to a coworker.
I filled my soda and went back and saw him looking all over. I go up and he gets close and says âI made it a largeâ.
That was seriously enough for me not to do it. His kindness. Someone went out of their way and as I went back in my car to cry I realized I could muster through a few other days. A few more weeks. Then I came down from that panicky high of anxiety, depression, and pain. I finished my shake. And it was enough time to let me feel better. I⌠Iâm alive. Iâll make it through.
Try and be nice today. Tomorrow. Something as much as a smile. It helped so much.
Thank you man at McDonalds.
The milkshake saved my life
I hope you all can read this and remember to be kind
The smallest of gestures can save a life. My Mum answered her phone when I called and I am alive today because of that.
Iâm glad youâre here.
Itâs a phone call, a milkshake, a friend.
I feel like I shouldnât keep reblogging this but when I do more people see what kindness can doâŚ. I donât know. Love everyone as yourself.
Nah, keep rebloging it. It gives hope.
walked sobbing around a city once wearing a summer dress in mid-september thunder and rain. basically dragged myself into LUSH as the smell of the store always made me smile. the shop was empty and dead due to the weather, just this blonde short woman behind the counter who smiled at me. i stared at her feet and asked âdo you have anything for people who are scared a lot?â (i was so out of it i had no clue). she showed me two bath bombs, one pink and one blue, and said both were good - i chose the pink, paid for it and left. i then sat at a bus stop clutching the LUSH bag in one arm and my prescription meds in the other - iâd lied and ordered a refill so i could just drift away with sleeping pills. when the bus arrived and i was out of the rain, i decided to have another look at my bath bomb, smell it and what not. opened my bag and saw sheâd put the blue one in there for me as well and written on the receipt âfeel better soon :) hope you like xâ.Â
no one had ever been so selflessly kind to me before, i didnât know what to do with it except hang around long enough to use the other bath bomb.Â
Actually Iâm going to reblog this again because of the truth of the inverse: think of any time you have been casually cruel or petty to someone for humor or because you werenât in a great mood.Â
The power of small gestures goes both ways.
iâm angry
Good News!
Marshae Jones, a 27-year-old Birmingham woman, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on a manslaughter charge.
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK.
Marshae Jones was shot in 2018 during an argument. She was 5-months pregnant at the time and the trauma ended the pregnancy. While charges were dropped against the shooter, the survivor, Marshae Jones is now being charged with manslaughter for starting the argument. Black and indigenous women are almost always the first targets of policies that attempt to steal autonomy over their own bodies from women. Marshae is clearly the victim in this situation, yet she know faces a hefty prison sentence for being shot. She is being held on a $50,000 bail. This is absolutely disgusting, and we must end both the system of cash bail and the prison industrial complex that seeks to criminalize black, brown, and working class white people at every opportunity. #SayHerName
According to Color of Change, Mississippi Reproductive Freedom Fund and Yellowhammer Fund are both working to raise bail. [Link to original tweet, June 27 2019]
She was shot in the abdomen FIVE TIMES by a woman she was arguing with over her baby's father and that monster is walking free even though she intentionally shot her in the stomach clearly aiming for one thing! This is sick!!!!!! Even if she started the fight, she never deserved to be shot, and she doesn't deserve to be held responsible for another person's actions! She is the fucking victim here, and yet she is being punished for something somebody else did!!!! This is so wrong, I don't even know what to say.

We did a pretty good fucking job, Jesus Christ
Remember this the next time you want to complain about GMOâs, we may not have done it in a lab but they still are that.
Bananas looked like lemons wtf
Isnât this more of a combination of selective breeding and GMOs? Not just GMOs?
Yes.  But people talk about how GMOâs are âunnaturalâ, yet for centuries humanity has been exploiting mutations in animals and plants to produce food for themselves.
GMOâs are simply the process of inducing these mutations reliably.
People hear âLettuce being modified with scorpion DNAâ and think that weâre now eating scorpions.  But, in reality, theyâre taking a tiny bit of scorpion DNA and splicing it into the plant.  Why?  So the plant will produce poison that is not harmful to humans but will deter insects, reducing the use of pesticide, which CAN be harmful to humans and the environment.
GMOs are producing rice that can survive flooding, which makes rice more reliable yields and will prevent food shortages in poor nations that rely on said crops for staple food.
GMOs are also creating spider-goat hybrids. Â Why? So we can splice web production into the goatâs udders. Â Weâll be able to spin huge quantities of spider silk, enough to reliably create spider silk cables and ropes, which have more tensile strength than steel.
I for one am glad I live in a time where watermelons arenât giant tomato abominations
The issue with GMOs is that corporations like Monsanto are patenting GMOs and arresting indigenous farmers for cross pollinating with they seeds. But there is nothing dangerous about the science.
^This.
The problem isnât the science, itâs what capitalism does with that science.
this should be in the largest letters weâve got, plastered everywhere until it gets through peopleâs heads:
The problem isnât the science, itâs what capitalism does with that science.
Did you just say spider goats? He said spider goats. Did you all read him talking about spider goats or am I hallucinating
things to do on sundays to recharge and make the upcoming week awesome
⢠clean ya room (just do it). also, check those pinterest boards you save for âone dayâ and actually go through them and draw some inspiration, even if you just end up rearranging the books on your bookshelf or put some flowers from your garden in a mason jar on your desk. this is your home, make it feel like it is.
⢠do your laundry (also, donât forget your bed sheets). if youâre in the mood, look at next weekâs weather forecast and think about what youâre going to wear. go through your drawers, check the back of your closet. that hat you bought some time ago and forgot about because you didnât dare to wear it? well⌠new week, new you, right?Â
⢠call a friend/family member you havenât talked to in a while, tell them you miss them. tell them you love them. remember and appreciate that they are a part of your life even if it doesnât feel like it all the time.
⢠draw, paint, journal, write or make some music. something you know you love doing but ânever find the timeâ. sunday is âfinding-the-time dayâ. if youâre not feeling creative, read a book or watch your favorite show. or watch a new show. a scary show. a funny show. laugh as loud as you want. listen to music. listen to your favorite songs, or listen to new songs. even a new genre if you dare. turn the volume all the way up. take a second to consciously feel the music. you can always get up and dance. or sing. or both.
⢠the great, but still really effective classic: take a bath or a really long shower. if you have this special face or hair mask youâre saving up for a special occasion: congrats, youâre the special occasion today. use it. also, body lotion. we all know youâre going to be running late during the week and skip it one too many times. make yourself feel like the goddess you are.Â
⢠sit in silence for a few moments. listen to your breath. listen to your heartbeat. for the love of god PLEASE listen to your thoughts for once in your life. donât make them feel like they are wrong. or bothersome. they too just want to be heard once in a while. what are they trying to tell you? what could be soothing for them? be compassionate to yourself. itâs okay. you are okay. you are okay.
⢠think about things you can be grateful for next week. even if you feel like your life sucks atm, think about the small things you take for granted in a different way. for example: ânext week, i will have access to clean water. CLEAN. WATER. 844 million people donât have that.â or ânext week, my legs will take me wherever i want to go. not everybody has two fully functioning legs, so iâm lucky in that way.â youâre allowed to feel bad about your life, but youâre also allowed to feel good about things.Â
⢠if youâve stayed home most of the week, go out. go for a walk. go swimming. go to a party or dinner with friends. even if you feel like you donât need to see the outside world, chances are youâll feel great after you do. if you feel like youâve been running around all week, maybe youâd like to stay home today. put on your ugliest sweater, comfiest leggings, and fluffiest socks and curl up under a thousand blankets. you a sloth today and itâs okay.Â
⢠eat. i mean honestly: eat THE THING. i donât care if youâre on a diet. if thereâs something youâve been craving all week that has turned you into the veiny-neck-dude meme just trying to resist it: EAT IT. you deserve it. not because you worked out or ate salads or did well in school, but just because youâre a human and you love to eat and life is short and you should be allowed to eat yummy things. itâs okay. you wonât gain 5 pounds or lose your brain cells no matter how unhealthy it is, i promise.
⢠plan plan plan yo week. it doesnât matter if you use a planner, bullet journal, the calendar on your phone or the notes app: write everything down you have going on next week. appointments. events. coffee-dates. when are you going to the gym? what are you going to eat? (meal prep if necessary) also, create reminders on your phone for everything. âi wonât forget it!â is a sweet thought, but oh honey you will. schedule reminders for every event. let your phone remind you that you need to buy toilet paper when the store is nearby. schedule daily reminders for your medications. (once youâve done this it honestly feels like you just cleaned out 38GB of your brain, you simply donât have to worry about that anymore, space for more important info, like your new favorite pun to annoy everyone with)
⢠most importantly: listen to what your mind and your body need today and next week. daily life is so full of âshould-doâs that itâs important to find a healthy balance between the âshouldâs and the âneedâs. you will be much more productive, healthy and happy that way. nobody knows you better than you do, take advantage of that and plan accordingly.
A man in a black sweater sat next to me in my favorite park bench, quietly nursing a half-eaten apple. I asked him whether I could have the leftover apple, and he asked me what I am, so I replied, âA scientist.â
âScience is a testament to the banality of Entropy.â He murmured, handing me the apple. The apple was now whole and rotten. âThe universe is a Goddess that no man can date for long. All will be forgotten, you and all others.â
He handed me the apple again. It was half-eaten and fresh again.
âYou donât have to go to Heaven to win a war. So donât be evil; be a fool and nothing more.â
Then I woke up.
What kind ofâŚ.?? Why does âbe a fool and nothing moreâ hit so hard???
âScience is a testament to the banality of Entropy.â
If I was a tattoo guy⌠I love that quote.

how did abortions get banned faster than assault rifles
Since Iâm not seeing her name nearly enough on the press, letâs give the attention Katie Bouman deserves. Thanks to her, we are now possible to see the first ever image of a black hole, something that people talked 200 years ago for the first time. Itâs no longer a myth. We are girls and we can be whatever we want to be. Einstein would be proud of you, Katie. Thank you!
Here you can see a huge stack of hard drives she used for Messier 87âs black hole image data.
