Hello, my name is Melanie and in 2025 i took the plunge and moved to South Africa to marry and move in with my partner. I came here with nothing but a meagre 2000 saved up and my last paycheck. Needless to say all that money went to paying for our marriage and visa applications and to my sister in law for housing us. I stayed with them for months, but thanks to my partners steady income and their genersoity, they took out a small loan so that we could move and start our life together.

We managed to find the affordable one bedroom you see here in a lovely community in a semi farming town...we did not have much to start out with after purchasing our essential appliances and jn order for my partner to keep the steady income that sustains us they need better wifi than what we have now.

We have no fibre internet line, but there is the option to install. Obviously, it is very expensive so at the moment we are finding whatever work arounds we can to try and work through it. Ultimately, i need your help setting up our little family to thrive here while i am still unable to work due to visa status.

These funds will go towards a fibre installation and a new bed. We currently have a very old double bed, it is sinking in the middle and the springs are poking our of the non existent foam. We sleep on it with our two cats and it is small and painful on our bodies, but as is well known, a mattress, bedframe and sheets/pillows can be very expensive too.
