A man has rescued his pet dog after it was attacked by an alligator in Florida. 74-year-old Richard Wilbanks went into a pond, grabbed the alligator and pulled the puppy from its jaws as wildlife cameras recorded the entire incident. (Nov. 24)

#ThisWeekInHistory: the body of President John F. Kennedy was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery; his widow, Jacqueline, lighted an “eternal flame” at the gravesite (11/25/1963); a day after George W. Bush was certified the winner of Florida’s presidential vote, Al Gore laid out his case for letting the courts settle the nation’s long-count election (11/27/2000).
