"I don’t know." He just shrugged and lightly touched the tips of his fingers to the keys, still trying to decide whether or not he wants to play
Kim lightly sighed and shrugged. "You should play, it would nice to hear you play."
Barrel sat there and listened to the girl play for a moment before speaking. “You’re really good.”
Kim gave him a soft smile, and stopped playing. "Thanks. Why weren't you playing before?"
Barrel was sitting in the ball room in front of the grand piano, trying to decide whether or not he wanted to play it. He hadn’t played in months, he just stared down at the keys and pulled his sleeves down over his hands
Kim walked into the room swiftly, and sat down on the bench with him. After a few moments she started to play, Fur Elise.

Ben smiled widely to her laugh, and wished she had not covered her mouth, as pretty a laugh as it was. “Super duper?” he asked eyebrows raised; he hadn’t heard joking lingo in a while either, as it was rather strange for people to be in the right sort of mind. Kim seemed to be in every sort of right mind, though maybe some detectable body image issues. She was such a beautiful girl, intelligent looking, athletic looking, a girl who looked like she had goals and she met them. Ben wondered whatever went so wrong in her world that it all came crashing around her, what made her crack. There was always a final straw, or even a final blow, maybe even one fell swoop to take someone out of the game and onto their back. What was Kim’s?
“My cousin is into Sarah Dessen, I think. I’ve never had a taste for her myself, prefer the classics,” Ben said with a smile. His mind wandered once again into thoughts of his own past, but he quelled them with a mental shake of the head, happy to not actually have done it out in the real world.
Kim went bright red at her lingo. She hated how sometimes she sounded like her 17 year old self. That girl was long gone away, but still, he didn't seem to be judging for it...right? Removing the hand from her mouth she nodded, "Yup...super duper. That was an actual, witty, joke. Good on you." She ended it with a shrug, and the feeling that this definitely didn't feel like an Asylum.
"Sarah Dessen is great. She explains everything so well. I've never been a fan of the classics, so long and too boring." Kim's attention span for those sorts of things was practically non-existent after the life she had lead. The old Kim didn't have time to properly read them, ever. Saving the world never left time for classic novels. The redhead tuned back into their conversation, noticing a far off expression on his face for just a moment. Before she could stop herself, she blurted, "What were you thinking about?"

Just Haven't Met You Yet || Kim and Bambi
Ben watched as she covered herself, doing everything he could to not ask, to not narrow his eyes, to not become curious. She was so very thin, what could she even be trying to cover, to hide? And pretty, she was, her green eyes sunken in but shining, her skin taut but clear, her face tired but sharp, beautiful. Even not knowing her, Ben felt protective over the idea of her, wondering what or who had made her so insecure. It made him angry, which was a rather rare emotion of his, most of his emotions being based in anxiety, sadness, and boredom.
With a bitter taste in his mouth, he smiled at her lightly again, holding up his copy of The Great Gatsby. “I often do things here that are uncommon, like breathe without the help of fourteen drugs,” he said with a laugh, hoping he wasn’t offensive. “I’m reading The Great Gatsby again, for probably the sixteenth time. My favorite book, it is,” he told her, shrugging. “What’s your favorite book, Kim?” he asked, hoping to keep a decent conversation going with the girl.
She could see him scanning her body, looking for reasons why she covered herself. No one understood how Kim developed such a warped sense of how she looked. It was the constant question that countless doctors asked. The redhead could never answer.
Kim laughed at his comment putting a hand over her mouth. She nodded and agreed, "That is pretty uncommon, and the best joke I've heard in a super duper long time."For the first time in a while, Kim was being sincere. The redhead wasn't just going through the motions, saying what they (her doctors and the world) wanted her to say, there was feeling behind her words. Her green eyes lit up a bit, the fact that he had a definite sense of humor meant that he was in the right mind. That in the endless, dauntless Asylum, there was someone like her. Someone who wasn't crazy. Truly. "Hmm...I was never much of a reader, I was always really busy. But...I'd have to say 'Truth About Forever' by Sarah Dessen."
Just Haven't Met You Yet || Kim and Bambi
When Ben realized she had been staring as well, he blushed a deep scarlet and gave her an awkward smile, returning the wave. He looked her over again, still trying to nonchalantly pick apart who she was, why someone like her would be in a place like this. She was about the same age as he was, maybe a bit younger, twenty three or twenty four, maybe twenty two. He blushed a deeper red as he realized he was staring again, and he smiled nervously again, walking over to the red haired girl.
“My name is Ben Gevir, but you can call me Bambi,” he said, his smiling quirking to one side of his mouth. She was very pretty, no matter whatever was wrong with her, big green eyes and long red hair. Her skin had paled with her thinness, Ben could tell, as she looked as if she had been tan at one point. “What are you called?” he asked, sitting down in the chair in front of the pretty, thin, red haired girl. Two months ago, the idea of her would have him squirming; it seemed these shrinks might actually be well off at their jobs.
Kim chuckled at his awkwardness, finding it very endearing. From their interaction so far, she could tell that he was one of the people who probably were in their right mind. To be honest, it didn't even feel like they were in an Asylum. They could have been in a library or at a school. In a coffees hop or even in at a park. Kim watched him walk over to her and adjusted herself, pulling on her clothing to make it looser, hopefully hiding any of the dreaded fat she felt covered her body.
He had a cute smile, Kim determined, a crooked one. Another thing that was endearing about him. While she thought he would have been more of the awkward type, he was very good at introducing himself, which surprised her but as well made her more curious as to what exactly was wrong with him. "Hi, Ben. I'm Kim. Kim Possible." She said breezily and in a soft tone. Tilting her to the side, she remarked, "I saw that you were reading a book. Very unheard of here." Kim gave him a soft smile, and put her hands under her chin, waiting for an answer/

-he laughed-yes it is.-he smiled-
I feel like you're lying.
Just Haven't Met You Yet || Kim and Bambi
Ben sat in the game room, both contemplating and reading The Great Gatsby. While being usually entertained by any book at all, he was kind of bored, which was surprising. He found himself looking around the room more often than focusing on the pages in front of him, looking at the other patients surrounding him. Around so many people, a month or two ago, he would’ve been scratching at his skin and counting in his head, trying to make himself not have an anxiety attack. He was only slightly shaken when people spoke to him now, only becoming the proverbial deer in headlights when he was struck by surprise.
There was one girl, red haired, thin, that took his attention, that actually made him want to out and speak to her. She didn’t look like anything was wrong with her, besides the sadness behind her eyes and the thinness of her waist, and Ben wondered why she was in the Asylum. He thought to ask, but that was rude, and he couldn’t talk to her just to be rude, couldn’t talk to anyone just to be rude. Just the look of her was interesting, and it was a bit before he caught himself staring, only after she did herself.
The main problem Kim found with the Asylum was the lack of things to do. No, that was a lie, Kim knew what she wanted to do, which was be active, take a run outside or go on missions (even though she was long banned from them, Wade thought she was too unhealthy. Her brothers had taken over.) but they weren't possible. She was also on exercise restriction. So, any movement considered to be an exercise would get her in trouble and although she had always loved trouble and not played by the rules, here it wasn't a good thing. They'd just once again drug her up beyond recognition.
The redhead found herself just observing people instead, thinking of what could be wrong with them. It was hard for Kim, not being able to have a decent conversation with someone. She could feel herself losing braincells already from the lack of intelligent and concise conversation. Now, though, she saw a guy, who looked about her age reading a book. She hadn't seen anyone reading a book in the Asylum, so she found herself staring at him. Trying to pick him apart before she realized he was staring back at her. Kim gave him a small wave, hoping she could hide the red blossoming on her cheeks from being caught in her staring.
