thank you .
âI want to thank every single one of you for coming out. This is very important, this is very vital. Black lives have always mattered. We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded, regardless. And now is the time. I ainât waiting! I AINâT WAITING! Iâve been born in this country. I am 28 years old. Born and raised in London. Every black person understands and realizes the first time you are reminded that you are black. You remember. Every black person in here remembers when another person reminded you that you were black. I need you guys to understand- I need you to understand how painful this shit is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isnât the case anymore, that is never the case anymore. Weâre going to try today. We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd. We are a physical representation on our support for Sandra Bland. We are a physical representation on our support for Trayvon Martin. We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence. For Mark Duggan. It is very very important that we keep control of this movement, and we make it as peaceful as possible. We make this as peaceful and as organized as possible. Because you know what, guys? They want us to mess up. They want us to be disorganized. But not today! NOT TODAY! Not today! This message is specifically for black men: black men, black men we need to take care of our black women. We need to take care of- They are our hearts! THEY ARE OUR HEARTS! They are our future. We cannot demonize our own. We are the pillars of the family. Imagine this, a nation that is set up with individual families that are thriving, that are healthy, that communicate, that raise their children in love have a better rate of becoming better human beings. And thatâs what we need to create. Black men, it starts with you. Itâs done man, we canât be trash no more. We have to be better. You donât understand? Iâm speaking to you from my heart. Look, I donât know if Iâm going to have a career after this, but f**k that! Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process. We donât know what George Floyd could have achieved, we donât know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today weâre going to make sure that that wonât be an alien thought to our young ones. You lot came today, you left your kids, and when you see your kids theyâre aimlessly playing, they donât understand whatâs going on. Today is the day that we remind them that we are dedicated and this is a lifelong dedication. Guys, we donât leave them stop you now. This is longevity. Some of you are artists, some of you are bankers, some of you are lawyers, some of you own shop stores. You are important, your individual power, your individual right is very, very important. We can all join together to make this a better world.
Thank you for coming out today. Thank you for your support. To us. Black people I love you. I appreciate you. Today is an important day, we are fighting for our rights. We are fighting for our ability to live in freedom. We are fighting for our ability to achieve. We are fighting for equality. And you are the physical representation of that. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE! Today is the day that we stand. We walk. Itâs not about career, itâs not about money, itâs about your right to live as a human being.â

So none of you out there, all those protesters on the other side, protesting against what we want to do, protesting against what we want to try and achieve, burn you, this is so vital. I may be across the ocean right now, but I lived in Minneapolis for 4 years. I love that community and I stand with the Black Lives Matter movement 100%.
Iâm not going to be reblogging things here, because this is a fandom blog and I want to keep it calm and make a space for those of you who need a break from the constant outpouring of stressful news updates. But I also donât want to pretend Iâm a neutral party. Iâm not. Police brutality is a serious problem in America, and peopleâs grief and anger is completely justified.Â
If you want to help or read up on whatâs happening, Iâve reblogged a few things on my main account ( @thechekhov ) and on my twitter (the_chekhov), including resources for followers who are abroad and want to help by donating or reading up.
Iâm not doing drawing donations because I donât want to ask for othersâ money - Iâm just helping out using my own resources.Â
Cheers, and if youâre out there, please stay safe. If youâre white, remember - this is not about you. DONâT escalate - follow the instructions of the black protest leaders and protect one another.Â
(sorry for the quality, I donât have access to my tablet rn)

combination of mine and @draw-a-circle-thats-the-foxholeâs headcanons interpreting US/CAN/AUS/NZ as siblings, in their 1940s uniforms. family is a complicated thing for their kind: theyâre tied together by the old man, sir lord arthur bloody kirkland, but their own persons all the same. pacific siblings; because thatâs the ocean they have in common.Â
*they havenât got round to formally throwing off the âfamilyâ name but they will.

Su crits: BUT THE vILLAins in StEvEn UnIvErse WERE REALLY EVILL!!! and steven just FORGAVE THEM??? and there were NO CoNsEqUeNCes? We canât just forgive bad people thatâs p r o b l e m a t i c!!!!!!
Me: steven never actually forgave anyone. He helped them because he had no choice. He tried to move on and ignore what happened because he didnât know what else he could do. But suppressing his true feelings towards them actually resulted in psychological trauma, violent thoughts and depression so yeah hun Iâd say there were consequences
Y'all I donât know. I love the show but I still think itâs wild Rebecca made the diamonds a genocidal authoritarian regime in charge of a pseudo caste system and then decided to redeem them. Like I donât think she did it on purpose, I just think redeeming the diamonds was definitely not the plan the whole time.
Well, what other option is there?? Steven canât kill them, thatâs more trauma and way more enemies to fight because of the uprising from homeworld that would rise from that. They canât be inprisoned, theyâre too powerful for that. All they can do is try to be peaceful and start slowly fixing their mistakes, which is exactly what theyâre doing. Noone forgave them. Noone is excusing their actions. Theyâre just working towards getting better. Is it idealistic? Yeah, I doubt that would happen in reality, and it could have been explored a lot more in depth. But it still can be explained, and itâs not like the villains realising their mistakes and no longer being a threat means the series is somehow excusing their bad actions, all of the showâs themes directly contradict everything the Diamonds and the old system were about.
I donât know, itâs just a real âUS during the Cold Warâ mindset. Like homeworld is heavily implied to have plotted at least one genocide and itâs sort of implied they actually committed multiple. But the show seems really quick to forgive them because the leaders are willing to change. They go from being the main villian to âyou know, we just have to live with them. Oh well.â
Itâs just sort of jarring to have a show thatâs both extremely forward thinking in terms of charactes and representation that also (probably accidentally, Iâm more that willing to give Rebecca Sugar the benefit of the doubt) says leaders that plot genocide and run an authoritarian regime can be forgiven.
Iâm not saying the show is bad or anything, I just think Rebecca Sugar used some themes and shorthands without fully thinking through the consequences of using those themes.
