Anxious Dog

Just because someone looks happy, doesn't mean they are happy. I mean, look at me. I am at the vet waiting for my allergy shot. This is my, “I’m super anxious and panting and need to crawl in your lap now” face. Looks can be deceiving. Dig deeper.

Got a haircut today. It was very stressful. Think I’ll stay here for the rest of the day. At least I’m not under the bed. Little accomplishments. #livingwithanxiety

Why yes, I do have to follow you around the kitchen island when you cook and yes I do need to lie right here. I can’t let you out of my sight ever. #living with anxiety

I’m sorry I cower and am afraid every single day to put my leash on. Bad memories. But once it is on and you open the door, I am good to go! #livingwithanxiety

You can never have too many pillows. 

I know she moved to Boston. I just happen to like this corner of her room, that’s all.

Sometimes you’ve got to force yourself out from under the bed to go outside. And then you remember... you like outside!

A good friend is better than even the best squeaky toy. 

I’ll never forget the first day in my new home, 6 years ago. The neglect and abuse was finally over.  Life is great now, so why am I still on edge? #livingwithanxiety

Did I mention I have anxiety?

Some people have no problem asking for attention when they need it. I just don’t get it. 

Life is always a struggle. That’s my spot. But I’m terrified to do anything about it.

I can move from room to room like a ghost with no one noticing me. Silently and slowly. It was a skill I used to need to survive. But I still do it.

Sometimes I spend all day under the bed where I feel safe. But then I’ll remember someone loves me, and it takes everything I’ve got to come out. 

I get anxious. Sometimes I forget to breathe. Don’t forget to breathe.
