Waiting for the bus to take us to Siem Reap. . There are a few options to get to Siem Reap, where the Angkor Wat lies. From Kuala Lumpur, there are some direct flights, one of them is operated by @AirAsia. From Phnom Penh, Cambodia Angkor Air offers several daily flights. But buses are the most popular domestic means. . Roads between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap are in good condition, and the journey take 5-6 hours. But bear in mind, Phnom Penh doesn’t have a centralized bus station, and buses from different companies depart from different station. This great artificial lake was once an expression, a statement of imperial power & monumental feet of engineering: irrigation of 18,000 acres of paddy fields for two seasons a year, a line of defence along the entire west flank of the city against the marauding Dravidian invasions from South India & cooling breeze to the citizens. The great reservoir was named after its imperial designer. . At a boasting 2100 hectares, it is more like an inland sea. In the rainy season the rainwater reservoir is in its full splendour. Vatadage or House of Stupa, are anywhere accross Sri Lanka. But The Vatadage of Polonnaruwa is the most famous. It was intended to house the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha, which is now deposited at The Sacred Temple of Tooth in Kandy. . As with many other vatadage, it has a stupa in the center with four Buddha images facing the cardinal directions. . At the bottom of the steps, it’s the moonstones, an elaborate semi-circular welcome step stone carved in polished granite to represent the spiritual journey from samsara to nirvana.
