scott folded his arms over his chest as he looked at his daughter.  “no, i’m not kidding you, dude.” as people walked down the halls, scott pulled her into his classroom so they could have a more private conversation. “i don’t want you anywhere near this, cassie.” he’d nearly lost her so many times before: getting locked up being bars, being stuck in the quantum realm and losing 5 years of her growing up, then getting transported to some dinosaur island. he wasn’t going to let her get caught up in this mess and lose her again.

scott looked down at the suit in his bag. of course, it was rendered useless by the power dampeners but he was still going to try and work on it when possible since he had a classroom now. though he thought the bag was more hidden than it actually was. he stuffed the arm that was sticking out. “oh, it’s gotta. if i can figure out how to shrink down small enough, i might be able to destroy those stupid power dampeners and get us out of here.” scott whispered to bobby.

scott looked at the banana in his hand, a curious look on his face. he wasn’t sure to believe it or not. “uh, i don’t know man- wait is this supposed to be like some kind of teacher thing? like teachers get the apple and professors get the...the banana?” he shrugged and opened the banana to take a bite. whether that were the case or not, the fruit was delicious.

“what?” scott looked at peter, a small bit of confusion on his face. “does doom have you doing something crazy? like sweeping chimnies or poking squirrels out the gutters?” in all honesty if that were the case, scott wouldn’t be surprised. the way doom was parading around, it was like he was on some sort of power trip and was doing things just because he could....because he can.

“Hey, Lang!” Tony locked on to Scott’s position and practically dropped out of the sky on his head, holding up his repulsors at the various Nasty Things that were closing in on their position. “I have an idea, and I think I need your help with it. Can you still do the growing and shrinking thing?”

He paused. “That sounded a lot better in my head. Anyway, there’s a portal beyond that I think can get us to safety, but we gotta clear a path for people. Problem is, all these monsters and shit are guarding the whole way. I’m thinking I can flick you behind their lines, you can giant up and King Kong the whole lot into next year. What do you think?”

standing out in the field, scott was fully dressed (including his helmet). thankfully, this kept him safe from the nightmares that’d been going around. but that didn’t mean his fight was over. there were still many people that needed help. since getting down to his last handful of pym particles, scott made sure he didn’t use anymore. opening the pack to check at tony’s request, he nodded his head. “yeah, i still got some juice.” 

he looked out to the portal’s general direction as he followed along with tony’s game plan. “okay, yeah...yeah. that could work.” he raised a hand to his chin. his only concern being that since they weren’t on earth, the impact of going giant might be different. 

“An ant?” Peter raised an eyebrow. “Pretty sure that metaphor’s t’do with flies, man.” It was only after he’d said it that he took stock of the…above average number of ants hanging around. “Y’know what, this is weird enough as it is. Ex-con to ex-con, I’m gonna take pity on ya.” Looking around briefly, he sets eyes on his second favourite fruit. That’s a good enough compromise. He points at it. “That one’s good too, and I’ve seen little dinosaurs eat it so it can’t be that bad for ya.”

scott hadn’t even bothered to try and explain what he meant. he knew his buddies would come and prove his point for him. he could always count on his ant buds. “hear that, fred? he thinks i need pity.” scott looks down at the ground, talking to one of the ants he’d named, hands raised to his hips. he could tell peter was working an angle but he just couldn’t tell for what. “i like to think i have a little more definition than one of those little dinosaurs, but thank you.” he stated as he went to grab the fruit peter pointed him towards.

This was BAD, seeing how the flames almost scorched the man who wasn’t doing anything outside of SLEEPING. Johnny doesn’t see him falling back asleep anytime soon. He takes a few deep breaths as his hands push his hair out of his face — damp with sweat. “You’re sure? I didn’t hit you?” He looks for any sign of a burn mark — but relieved when there isn’t one. “I’ll be okay, I just had this vivid nightmare. I hope I’m okay at least. I’m not sure.”

scott didn’t have any powers of his own, so an awakening from a nightmare was never much of a big event. but he did understand how startling it can be to be pulled out of one that felt so real. “yeah, totally. i’m a tough nut to crack.” he even went a step further to hold out his arms to show there was nothing there. “oh, i know how those feel. do you want to talk about it?”

The boy unluckily fell asleep somewhere that WASN’T his bedroom. The space there was designed to be fireproof, but where he passed out this time for a long nap was not. OF COURSE A NIGHTMARE occurs, flames covering Johnny’s entire body while he was still asleep — not for long though. He jolts up with a scream, balls of fire coming out of his hands on instinct that come out — hitting the walls. The boy is awake now, turning off his powers — starting to panic as he scrambles to run across the room to absorb the burning fire on the wall, leaving some scorch marks behind once it’s gone.

“I’m sorry — this usually doesn’t happen. I — It hasn’t happened since I was A KID and just got my powers. You’re not hurt right? Please tell me I didn’t burn you too.”  There’s a sad look on his face, mostly ashamed AND worried  after this happened AGAIN after so long.

scott was sleepily walking around the building. since the nightmare he’d been up trying not to let himself fall back asleep. it wasn’t the first time he’d had encounters with the quantum realm during his sleep and it was so disorienting. but he was startled wide awake when the kid screamed and shot fire out of his hands. he instinctively dropped to the ground not really wanting to get scorched. it seemed like everyone was having a rough night. he looked up once the kid seemed to be fully awake and cleared his throat. “what? hey, don’t worry about it. i’m fine, trust me. are you okay? seems like a pretty wicked nap you took.”

he couldn’t breathe. he found himself back in midland circle, a pool of bodies surrounding him but he couldn’t sense any of the people he was with. he couldn’t hear jones or cage or danny rand or even the hand. he couldn’t even hear elektra. he was alone in midland circle and he was in the daredevil suit. “what—?” he didn’t understand why he was back in new york city because the last thing he remembered was the smell of antiseptic in the avengers compound infirmary.

but he was four seconds too late when he heard the foundation crumbling and he was suddenly feeling the building collapsing in on itself and he was transported back to when he first got buried underneath it. he’s pretty sure he survived the first time on luck but he’s not sure either if that was a dream or not. and just like before, he got himself knocked out before sitting up and breathing heavily, his chest feeling like it’s been buried under bricks. matt’s sure it was a dream—until he felt the suit on his skin. there was another person in the room and in a state of panic, he stood up and grabbed the person. “did you take me from the collapsed building?”

scott had a pretty rough night of sleep himself. one minute he was up working on the electrical components of the building the next he was sleep on the couch. his nightmare of being sucked into the quantum realm, shrinking for all eternity, never getting to see his daughter again or being able to know if she's okay if she's alive. it stuck with him until he snapped awake. he was prepared to finish his work when matt grabbed him, seeming to be extremely distressed. "hey, hey man. i don't know what you're talking about but you have got to calm down." scott carefully placed his own hands on the guy's shoulders. "you're at the compound right now. you're safe. the building isn't collapsing. at least I really hope not because i was about to grab some breakfast."

peter rolled his eyes, ‘experience, man. i learned this the hard way. i’m 50% alien, but my girl? she’s - she was 100% alien. an’ she taught me not to eat this stuff like two seconds after i already ate it. turned out even though she read it killed terrans, i ain’t all terran, so i just enjoyed the fruit.” the memory went almost exactly like that, except it was a different bush - obviously - and he got a nasty as hell stomach ache. retelling it hadn’t helped ease the pain as much as he had hoped it would.

scott shrugged his shoulders. “yeah she read it killed- what’d you call us? terrans?” he wasn’t even sure exactly what that meant but he would go along with it. “in my experience, you can’t 100% trust things you see written. see me for example!” he holds his arms out. “on paper i was what they call a ‘wanted criminal’ but come on. i wouldn’t hurt an ant.” he nods to his ant buddies. “look dude, i’m just really hungry and we’re short on food back there. is there anything here you can give me?”

“it’s good to see you again, scott. glad to know you’re still in one piece.” he gives him a small smile before he nods his head, pulling his handgun out of it’s holster to begin demonstrating the basics as a refresher course. “gonna guess you probably know how to hold it. safety’s here – keep it on til you need to shoot.” he explained to start, and then continued to go over other basics before he holds the gun out to scott. “a handgun isn’t usually ideal for hunting, as far as i know, but it’s all i’ve got and it’s easier than the rifle.”

he laughs and nods his head, “yeah, i know right. with the dinos and the rain and stuff. that was so crazy, like what was that? weather, am i right?” scott folds his arms together over his chest, narrowing his eyes to focus on the techniques bucky was using. he would nod his head when bucky asked him about the basics. he knew that much about guns but there was most likely more to it than he realized. taking hold of the gun he makes sure to hold it properly. “thanks, buck-” he tried coming up with a nickname but it didn’t seem to really fit the moment. “bucky.” he turned and aimed his attention to the trees they were going to go hunting through.

“i mean, i feel like there’s gotta be a dino, or maybe a few, out there that match or come close to the size of a t-rex. how do we even know that the kinds of giant fuckers that we know of are all that are here? we probably don’t, yanno? who knows what kinda freaky shit is lurking around every corner. either way, i don’t trust it,” wade replied, shrugging his shoulders as he sort of went off on a tangent there, but that was also sort of typical for him. “oh yeah? jealous ol’ pym didn’t give you wings?” he laughs. “can’t fault you for that one. it’s a pretty good choice, i mean, it’d be cool to fly.”

“if there are then we don’t know about it.” scott shrugged, not at all minding the random road this conversation is taking them down. “but if we’re talking technical, doesn’t there have to be a ‘biggest dinosaur’ out there? one of them’s gotta set the scales. maybe it is the t-rex, or some creature we’ve never seen and hope we never do see because i can only grow so big.” referring to his ability to become giant-man. though his face sort of scrunched before quickly clearing his throat trying to hide the initial reaction he gave off. “i’m not jealous- i just don’t get it! there are plenty of ants with wings, like my best buddy ant-ony.” he gave a little kiss to the sky in remembrance of his lost buddy. 

cool grey: if your muse could ensure one thing for certain in their future to come, what would it be?

everything scott did and does is for his daughter, cassie. so if there’s anything he wants, it’s to make sure that she’ll be okay and she’ll have a bright future. he doesn’t care for his own future as much as he cares for hers. he just wants his daughter to be safe and happy.

frost blue: does your muse enjoy the snow and cold? or are they the type to enjoy summer more?

scott leans towards summer weather more if he had to choose specifically between those two. but if he had to choose between all four seasons he’d like autumn and spring. spring for flowers (he’s not ashamed to say it) and autumn for the fallen leaves on the ground.
