Maleficent frowned at her daughterâs choice of words, but she supposed that this came from being raised by people from this world. Peasants, most likely. She had learned that she shouldnât refer to them as such, but she couldnât help it. For someone who didnât even identify as human, they were all below her, unless proven otherwise.
  âI could join you. There is nothing for me to do here, anyway, and we just found each other. What if something happens while youâre gone? I would never know.â Perhaps she was a bit clingy, and perhaps she should trust her daughter more, but she had already tried to leave once, so Maleficent was afraid that she wouldnât come back to her. Things had started to look up, finally. She wouldnât let that go this easily.
  âI spent some time in Reginaâs vault. Iâm sure we can find the scroll. You could show me the world you grew up in.â The look on her face was hopeful, nearly desperate. Hadnât she been able to hold back, she wouldâve taken Lilyâs hand in hers, just to hold on to her.Â
       âNo!â She said all too quickly, for one of the few times in her life it had made her concerned for another personâs feelings. Normally she wouldnât try to worry about their feelings unless it negatively effected her in the process. But this was her Mother, the only person to seemingly show her unconditional kindness in her entire life.
       Lilith crossed her arms uncomfortably. âI just have to do this alone. Itâs a lot of emotions there and uh...yeah.â At this point, they hadn't known each other long enough that telling her the thing that would make her the ultimate disappointment in her only parentâs eyes was not something she was ready for. The secrets she had hidden back in Boston were things she would never be proud of. Her greatest failures existed there. She couldnât dare to expose her mother to that side of her.
       âI donât think this time is best..maybe next time. I just need to get there before my landlord tries to sell my shit off.â Not that there was much of anything worth holding onto in the house. She wasnât planning on going to her home anyways, instead, it would be to an apartment twenty minutes from her trailer. Where somebody that needed her was waiting and wishing that she could be there all the time.
