BASICS.
FULL NAME: kaien (m.) matsushita. in japanese, his family name can be interpreted as "beneath the pine tree" ( 松下, matsushita). ALIAS: bonebreaker. AGE: verse dependent (his timeline is extensive). BIRTHDATE: jan 20th (aquarius / capricorn cusp). PLACE OF BIRTH: osaka, japan. NATIONALITY: dual-nationality; french and japanese. GENDER: cis male (he / him pronouns). SEXUALITY: bisexual. SPECIES: adept* * for the sake of simplicity, an adept is not dissimilar to an enhanced / meta-human or a mutant. AFFILIATION: the headquarters (ex); he freelances now. OCCUPATION: hunter*; simultaneously, he manages his family’s cafe and doubles as a bartender and pastry chef.
* hunters are the mercenaries of his universe, but they are put through specialized training that involves, among other things, combat and negotiation strategies. hunters accept all sorts of jobs, ranging from detective work, to protection detail, to hit jobs. as long as the client goes through the proper channels (usually through the company administration), a hunter can be hired to do most-anything.
APPEARANCE.
HEIGHT: 6ft6in, 198cm. HAIR COLOR: black. EYE COLOR: shifts of amethyst-purple. his eyes are especially bright; in specific conditions, they appear magenta. all adepts' eyes do. BUILD: mesomorph. STYLE: he favors black leathers; harder to puncture, and alternatively, easier to conceal any possible bleeding. off the job, his wardrobe is varied with no strict, determined style; he wears what looks good on him. TATTOOS: blackout sleeve (not an image of the placement, but rather the motif). it begins halfway up his left forearm, stretching up to cover his left shoulder and the side of his neck to just underneath his jaw; an imitation of sinew and bone to hide the scarring underneath. PIERCINGS: several ear piercings on both ears. a closed-up navel piercing from his teens, later re-pierced in his 20s. SCARS: noticeably, only 2*: one on his right-side temple, hidden by the convenient sweep of hair. the second, starting just below his jaw and branching to the left to stretch down the length of his neck and across the meat of his shoulder and upper arm. it covers the entire area of the skin. * these wounds were gained before his adeptal abilities awakened and are therefore the only ones to have left any scarring. otherwise, all of kaien’s wounds heal without a mark. an adept is born with an ability that can awaken anywhere from birth to adulthood. this ability is unique to the adept and can't be replicated / won't appear a second time even if that adept were to die at any point.
ABILITIES: break* (and complete mastery over it) , blueprint** (and complete mastery over it), enhanced condition, enhanced healing***, enhanced combat, weapon proficiency, poison and disease immunity****, immortality*****, panmnesia.
*** adepts' bodies do not sustain permanent injury, including separations, ailments, and injuries unsurvivable for humans . kaien has regrown teeth, organs, and limbs. depending on the level of injury, the healing may take anywhere from seconds to days.
**** adepts cannot catch illnesses. any condition that has the possibility of having / being a detriment to the adept gets phased out. similarly, poisonous elements have no long-lasting adverse effects on them.
***** to put it simply, after a certain age, an adept’s body stops experiencing cell death. it’s not that they’re left in stasis, but that when natural cell death should occur, the cells repair themselves instead.

NOTES.
his biological parents are deceased. he begins to live with a foster family, the kotabes, in his mid-teenaged years and maintains the closest familial relationship with the kotabe daughter and three years his elder, sei. though their relationship is all-around positive, the kotabes aren’t his parents, but sei is his sister, as far as he’s concerned.
the vision in his right eye is significantly worse than in his left due to ocular trauma. it's not noticeable when he has both eyes open because his left eye overcompensates, but if he closes his left eye, his surroundings become a lot more difficult to navigate.
he doesn’t cry. can’t, to be precise. he used to be able to, but he’s been unable to for far longer now.
sometime in his thirties, after he comes back to take up a more permanent residence in japan again, kaien starts keeping an albino burmese. he names her daikon.
he invented the color purple and green and red and yellow and *continues naming colors until i run out of ones the human eye can visualize and then i just start making more up*
he was an honors student in highschool and university; genuinely loved to be at school! his parents instilled strong education-is-important core values just by virtue of existing.
is it cringe if i say his charm-based stats are maxed... he’s a social butterfly — people gravitate towards him because he’s genuine, both with himself and with others, and never puts on a front. you’ll always know where you stand with him, for better or worse.
somewhat related to the above point, but he genuinely doesn’t care if and when random people dislike him. he’s not the sort of person you can offhandedly upset and he’s almost impossible to purposely antagonize. if someone wants to get a rise out of him, ninety-nine percent of the time it’s a complete waste of their energy. it sounds overstated, but i’m so serious about this.
also somewhat related to the above points, but kaien doesn’t really raise his voice. genuinely what is there to shout about?
love languages are physical touch and acts of service. if he loves you, he’ll really go out of his way for you; something he doesn’t do for everyone.
he’s a great cook, but he especially loves to bake because his mother loved to bake. ask him to make all sorts of delicious treats for you! (he’ll do it regardless if he loves you because he wants to give you everything, but it’s nice if you go out of your way to ask. he’ll appreciate it.)
he’s a slow riser and a chronic dozer. sometimes oversleeper. if he has to be somewhere that requires full alertness, he needs to start waking up at least two hours prior.
