hey bud thanks for asking. i have a lot of pent up frustration directed at not even the situation but the way shawnblr has handled the situation itself. like iâm tired of keeping up with it because everyoneâs so set in degrading everyone involved in the situation.
do i think hb/sm is promo right now? Â Â yes i do.
may hb/sm have been an item in the past?   maybe. but like a lot of other people, i think Toronto was a turning point because 1) i really dont see shawn inviting a woman heâs known for like two months up to his hometown for the holidays that he spends with his family (but thatâs an assumption on my part!) 2) where did the paparazzi come from? where?? shawn only gets papped outside of like LA/NYC events and he has a solid x3 the instagram followers than hb does so?? if he has more followers wouldnt he naturally be more likely to get photographed in public? ok so then itâs fairly safe to assume the paparazzi ordeal was artifically inflated coverage correlated to hbâs presence. i really really donât think the paparazzi wouldâve caught him on camera if he were alone or even with any other woman. fans with their cell phone cameras yes maybe but not professionals with zoom lenses from multiple angles. also how fucking staged can pap shots get? the amount of hugging they did was..... not really natural-looking especially with her eye contact to the cameras. 3) shawnâs team notoriously mass unfollowed her soon after that ordeal.
do i know how much influence either party[âs management] had on this promo?    not definitively. i like to give shawn the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was leading with his dick into whatever he and hb were and it was actually spontaneous on his part at first. but i personally believe heâs probably naive about hollywood. the way i see it, hb is nothing but a socialite and secondarily a model. her JOB is to look presentable and stay relevant with hollywoodâs young elite. and tactics for staying relevant include but are not limited to being associated with more famous âpartnersâ to climb up the scale of relevance in the public (tabloid) eye. and stating this is not slut shaming, it is the life and career she has been born into and chosen herself.OR letâs say shawnâs not naive about hollywood, and maybe he was in this for the promo for his own benefit as well. maybe he chose to do this because heâs accepted that sometimes you have to manipulate others to climb up the relevance scale. BUT based on what we know about shawn i do not believe he went to the gala with her out of sheer self-motivation to do so. why would he? heâs been fine appearing either alone or with family at plenty of other events. he doesnât need her at all in my opinion, she does nothing positive for his career, and itâd be fairly low for him to have to stoop to associating with a socialite to get coverage for his album: heâs an artist selling his music and his charm and sheâs a businesswoman selling her beauty and the illusion of perfection as her products. and if weâre already talking about the dirty underbelly of PR, i do believe this is different than the camila-centered promo because that was plausibly natural because that was artist+artist whereas this mess is artist+business in my view.
so what now?   i donât want to be a tumblr celebrity conspiracy theorist. i explained what i think and why. he might have been coerced or pressured into the hb/sm promo but i would not accuse anyone in his management of making it happen because i donât know all the information. several months ago a now deleted shawn blog was bouncing conspiracies about shawnâs teamâs incompetence and i think that made a lot of people weary about shawnâs team but iâd like to urge all of you to assume the best of shawn and his team and donât forget thereâs a reason behind every action they take or donât take. theyâre individuals and they bear the consequences of their choices.
Letâs be conscious to not downplay shawnâs individual right to choice. ultimately nothing will change until he takes steps to change it, and even then, we probably wonât know the full extent of the truth as fans.
