Valentinesday is coming up so I decided to write a letter inspired by valtentinesday letters of the 18th and early 19th century. Itās all written in German āKurrentā and can make reading pretty hard. I have actually really fallen in love which this certaim fun way of letter folding.

I just wanted to point out how messy writing with ink actually is. Mistakes happen and the ink getās everywhere. More stessfull than romantic I would say.
After wandering through the woods we arrived at our destination to sell our little goods we had with us. Quills, buckles, bowls, snuff boxes silk ribbon and so on. After all this was just a fun hike in period clothes.

How to learn 18th century handwriting. This is the truth behind all those fancy letters. After learning german handwriting I now try to master armerican handwriting during the revolution. First of all I research all the main letters for handwriting from various letters. The next step is to copy manuscripts where you like the style. This is far not perfect but a little insight in how I do it. Please note that this is a process of months.
Camp followers in the french army (VivandiĆØres): Woman in the french army didnāt get paid by the army. This is why they couldnāt do the jobs of a housewife like cooking, sewing and so on. Rather than that they made up their income by selling brandy , vegetables and other goods from local shops. The pictures were taken during a 1798-1800 on Malta with some soldiers of the french artillery.

18th century life: 1783: My first interpretation of a gouvernant in a good household. Learning to write (with a quill) as well as drawing were key aspects of a good education as well a fun for her. :)Ā

18th century life: Writing was an essential thing to do like it is today allthough mail has now changed to email and quills are pens today. As a reenactment event is coming up in a few days I decided to make some new quills. To be shure that they are useable I needed to try them out. On the top of the picture you can also see my new original 18th century writing set as well as a 18th century/ early 19th century wax seal.
Hey, just wanted to say that letter you posted is great! I made one like it (well, not quite as fancy but still) and itās safe to say itās the cheesiest thing I have ever written. The design is so cool and the folding pattern is so simple! (I have to tell you this on anon bc my boyfriend follows my blog and I donāt want him to know for obvious reasons)
This is truly cute to hear. I was also very happy when I realized that this kind of folding thing is doable for a normal person. Your boyfriend should be pretty happy about this present for shure. My boyfriend said that he wants to properly read it in the afternoon. Could you maybe send me a picture of your letter later when it isnāt a suprise anymore? Iām curious, you know. ;)
