This phenomenon is why I find myself not relating to female characters and being more invested in male characters despite being a woman. I should've written my thesis on

I mean, seriously, have you guys noticed that many people find themselves more attracted to media that doesn't even have any female main characters because a lack of representation is better than blatant misrepresentation? As a sapphic woman I'd love to see more wlw ships but where do we get those when we don't even have normal women characters that are worth considering to ship?

Often the women have such a lack of depth that they don't even have chemistry with the MCs. Hence, shippings like SasuNaru I guess. They have chemistry as rivals and because of their similar pasts. Then Sakura walks in there trashtalking orphans but is supposed to somehow end up with Sasuke. I don't hate Sakura (and don't care about SasuNaru much so this is just an example) because her bad writing isn't her fault and she's had loads of development but how she started off in the early seasons explains why so many female fans prefer the mlm shipping. I don't necessarily care about it, however, it gets especially funny when Boruto and Sarada have many parallels with Naruto and Sasuke so that making BoruSara canon would suggest some things about their fathers.

But then I remember a few scenes: when Sakura is prepared to shoulder Naruto’s hate, when Sakura punches Sai and says she doesn’t care if he forgives her and when Sakura insults Ino during her fight so she’d take her seriously. Sakura doesn’t care how the world feels about her as long as her intentions are right. I feel this should be my response to the fandom who are so cruel to Sakura. However, maybe I’m immature but goddammit, I want her recognised and loved which is why I’m voting for her like crazy! I want to see her in the top 5 and let that scream to the whole fandom for underestimating her character and fans. If it happens, I’m sure the stubborn hating fandom will accuse us of cheating and say it’s a bad list but who cares :) I and Sakura fans will be smiling proud.

I mean, she went from this frivolous irritating fangirl who worries nothing but the latest trends and fads into this young woman who protects and nourishes and inspires everyone around her.

Look at her. She was the typical case of the school yard cheerleader girl. She fans over hot guys, she needs to constantly get her hair done and all the superficial stuff. She was smart, yes. But that’s all she was. She was nothing else. She was an empty character.

But the she realizes how much larger the world is.

She realized how weak she was.

She realized how helpless she was.

She realized how insignificant her superficial image was.

She realized how pathetic she was thinking she had it all figured out.

She began to see how everyone else was moving forward except her. She was starting to see, not only Naruto and Sasuke’s backs but also Lee’s, Neji’s, Shikamaru’s, and Ino’s backs.

This is why I simply love the FoD arc.

Its not just because of that epic SS moment, but because it was a turning point for two of the main characters of the series.

Sasuke was exposed to a dark power that introduced him to a strength too tempting to pass. It was at this moment that Sasuke became The Avenger and that he will tap into any power, no matter how dark it may be, to fulfill that role.

Sakura on the other hand, was finally given the slap of reality needed to get her head out of the clouds. It was here that she knew she needed to grow. It was at this moment that Sakura decided to become a protective force that can walk beside the strongest, to fight beside the strongest, to be one of the strongest.

And that she did, my brother. That she did.

And not only was a force to be reckoned with. Oh no. She was a healing beacon too. With the same hands, she creates a devastating force that can disseminate mountains with a single punch AND save the lives of thousands of people without even breaking a sweat.

That little civilian girl, with no background, no kekkei genkai, no shinobi history, came down as one of the most powerful women in the history of the Shinobi world.

And she did all that with a lot of elbow grease, a lot of guts, and a shitload of determination.

No power ups, no chakra fuses, no family secret jutsu, no eye techniques, no tail beasts, no nothing.

Just a pure shot of dauntless determination and conviction.

And despite all the haters, Ill still admire Sakura. Why? Because like me, she came from nothing. Absolutely nothing. She had talent, yes. But talent without hard work is hardly anything at all. It amazes me that this girl was able to achieve so much, conquering feat after feat after feat.
