The search for God is absurd?

(Part 1)

Because Shoot From The Hip fans will tell you about their favourite characters like;

They're a bank robbing lesbian and her supportive father who just wants her to be happy with the girl she loves (and to stop robbing banks).

They're a Lieutenant who wanted to help his planet and an alien from a different plant who finally found someone who learned his language.

They're a high-functioning boy waiting for his father to return and his tired mother who doesn't know if she can ever forgive her husband for abandoning them.

They're a husband who had to leave for war and his wife with psychic powers who, despite some miscommunication, helps him return home safe.

They're a boy who just moved to a new home with his father and a ghost who's been stuck there for a long time, unable to see his family.

They're a teenage girl who just got her first tattoo and a Dutch boyfriend and her father who, from experience, wants her to think about her life choices more.

They're husbands on a farm, one lost his legs in a war the other seems too eager to run right back into.

They're a crime-fighting, Scottish superhero and his hyper, equally Scottish side-kick.

They're a young police cadet who's desperate to prove himself, and his uncle who's trying to teach his nephew the ways of the job while still keeping him safe.

They're an eccentric tailor, one of the best in the world, and his supportive, drug loving wife, who's worried he might do something he'll regret

Here me out okay;

So Bella (Bitch Wife I use the fandom name for her cuz it feels rude) swears all the time about anything and everything. They're just part of the way she speaks, and she's not ashamed of that.

Meanwhile Johnny swears a little less, more so during intense moments. An interesting little thing is that the majority of his swears are at least somewhat directed at Bella/about her/because of her. I mean just think back to how many times he calls her a bitch. He's a little more particular with his swears than Bella, unless he's talking about her. Then they're flying out left and right. Almost like how he claims to be a much better person than her, but putting the two side-by-side reveals a lot of similarities.

Jonnie starts off as swearing just in the heat of a moment, but quickly devolves into swearing when he just doesn't know what else to say. Throwing them in as a filler were to buy himself more time to form a proper sentence. He started to use them even more than Bella, but his are much less meaningful because he doesn't actually intend them, you know?

Big Jimmy is where things get really interesting now. Assuming I can count correctly, he swears a whole eight times throughout the course of the whole play, and four of those are right at the end in the final scene. His four other swears are what I wanna talk about though. Because three of them, his first three, come from him quoting/imitating his parents. (Oh and his four swears in the last scene seem like he's directly imitating the way his dad talks too I just don't have the screenshots for those and felt more strongly about these examples)

And the fourth one is when Jonnie pulls a gun at him, which you know, pretty justified time to swear in my opinion

People are swearing all the time in this play, so I never realized just how little Jimmy swears, especially in comparison to everyone else. And that seven/eight times are him purposely trying to sound like his parents.

AJ immediately mistaking a woman for a man five seconds into the show

There was an astrophysicist that blew everyone's mind

AJ sucked Sam's nipple

Immediately followed by a scene where the prompt was 'the door took my trousers off'

Books for book game were crime and punishment and loveless by Alice Oseman

Late for work was relatively chill (sam guessed)

Start of the second half was an absolute mess

AJ insisted on duct taping the floor for some reason (this becomes a theme throughout the play)

Tom actually loses his mind

AJ chugs Sam's beer and goes shirtless

It takes a good ten minutes to even get to title decision

Will's disastrous will

More nipple play except it's with Luke and Tom and Tom is fully clothed

Dark long form but kinda happy ending
