my never-ending cycle of work grief:

encounter thing i do not know how to do and do not want to do [devastating. paralyzing. it was probably my fault anyway.]

try to figure out how to avoid thing. [impossible]

crowdsource ideas of how coworkers would do thing [unhelpful. they wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place, and if they were, their solution is so mired in *experience* and *knowledge* and *skill* that the proposed solution makes me want to cry]

start and wait for someone to tell me i’m doing something wrong [inevitable]

start and finish task in a fraction of the time i spent thinking about it and with a fraction of the grief i gave myself over it for hours [days.]
