When Horikoshi said “Please read Manga Volume 42 and use your own imagination for that answer.” I feel like people focus on “use your imagination” part too much (mostly just so they can deny izuocha's canonicity tbh) and not the “read manga volume 42” part enough, because if you did read chapter 431, you’ll notice the build up of their relationship.

Bakugo is the trigger for Izuku. He made him aware that giving everyone special treatment only meant nobody is really special to him. (homeboy is definitely so tired of the two yearning for years)

This is where Izuku realized just how special Ochako truly is to him. (can't get over how pretty she is here ( ∩´͈ ᐜ `͈∩))

Toga is the trigger for Ochako, (literally) pushing her to finally confront her feelings, to live her life the way she wanted.
