Summary: It's 1870 and the wild west is at its peak. The law trying helplessly to tame the wild country but without luck. In the midst of the chaos stands Michael Jackson. The feared outlaw that made women faint with just a smile, that made the lawmen quiver with fear at his presence and his name commanded respect. Enter a wild cowgirl from the south no-one knows who she is or where she came from but a run in with Michael and his gang sets off a long hatred, or is it really hate?
The rain is pouring down around you as the urges the mare forward, faster.
Behind you the voices of lawmen echo close in your tracks.
The few spotted appaloosa mare under you sprints faster, trees flying past them, rain beating down in their faces.
You pass by a sign pointing to strawberry as you takes a sharp turn left into the woods hoping to shake away the law in the trees.
Slowing the mare down behind a big rock formation you dismounts peaking around the corner. Seven lawmen gallops past shouting how she went this way.
Taking a shaky breath and leaning against the rock you turns towards your loyal mare.
"You did so good girl, never let me down "
Scratching her chin the loyal mare leans her head against your shoulder.
A few hours pass as the duo lay low after not hearing anything for a few hours you stand up from the wet ground.
The rain still beating down even harder now.
Mounting up on your horse you steer her out to the path.
The sign to strawberry is still there pointing towards a road.
You could follow it tonight but exhaustion was wearing you down. Coldness seeping into your bones making you shiver. The mare below you also tired from the days long chase from the south.
Turning your head around you spot a cabin farther away with a lantern on. Deciding on taking a chance you urge the mare into a trot towards the cabin.
Riding closer you slow the mare down. The cabin is small but cute a small pasture with a shed sits near.
The door glides open and an elderly women stands there lantern in hand.
"Oh my dear, come on in you will freeze out here in this weather. Put the horse in the shed over there and hurry inside."
You nod gratefully to the elderly women dismounting your mare and leading her into the shed. Inside hay and water is already awaiting, straw on the floor.
Removing the saddle, you pet the mare before reaching into your satchel grabbing an apple, giving it to the mare.
Leaving the shed you hurry inside the cabin.
Warmth hits you immediately like a blanket to your freezing bones. Clothes soaked and hair dripping with water.
"Come here my dear, I have a spare change of clothes from my daughter that might fit"
Grabbing the clothes you walk into a room the elderly women gestured you too.
This was not normal to you, usually you never approached strangers but tonight you were exhausted and something about this lady made you let your guard down.
Changing out of the wet old clothes and into the warm ones you step out. The elderly women hands you a plate of stew.
Taking the plate you eye it a bit suspiciously
Looking up at the elderly women you throw a sheepish smile her way before taking the first bite.
The food was lovely especially after this day.
"I do apologise for intruding like this mam, I can pay for the night and be out of your hair as soon as the rain stops"
"Nonsense my dear. I do not mind the company at all, stay as long as you want."
Silence settles between the two of them as they eat in peace.
"If I may ask, where am I?"
"You are just outside a town called strawberry located in big valley in west elizabeth "
A bit of shock spreads through your body, you had fled from tumbleweed in new austin a few days ago, the law finally catching up with you
The elderly women looks at you curiously before standing up.
"I'm heading to bed, you can take the room you changed in earlier"
Murmuring your thanks again you don't linger long at the table. Sleepiness taking over all your senses.
Heading into the room you basically collapse on the bed, asleep before your head hits the pillow.
The sunrays filter in through the window hitting you in the face. Birds can be heard chirping outside.
The rain has stopped all that is left is the dew clinging onto the grass. Slowly sitting up you look around the room that was swallowed by darkness now bathed in soft sunlight.
The room is small and quaint, an old wooden chair stands in a corner and a small cabinet tucked into the other one.
The bed creaks slightly as you throw your legs over the edge. You can't hear anything from the rest of the cabin.
Standing up you reach for your hat and puts it on. Silently you walk outside to the little shed where your mare nickers gently in greeting.
Grabbing some hay you feed the mare before picking up a brush and getting to work. Her shiny white coat full of dust and dirt from last nights chase.
The rhythmic sound of the mare chewing and birds chirping brings her a sense of peace. You're is still not sure exactly where you are but this place feels safe.
Flinching at the voice behind, you spin around. A hand on your gun that hangs on your hip.
Immediately relaxing when you spot the elderly lady just standing there.
"Stella is her name and I'm Y/n"
"Nice to meet you Y/n and Stella. I'm Susan"
Putting the brush down you dust yourself off, Stellas coat now gleaming in the early sunlight.
"She really is a gorgeous horse, how long have you had her?"
"4 years now, she is the most important thing in my life. Has saved my life more times than I can count "
The elderly women hums, her gaze sweeping over you infront of her like she is seeing right through you.
"As I said last night m'am I'm willing to pay for the food and for letting me sleep here"
Before you can finish the sentence Susan tsks slightly
"Absolutely not. Like I said last night you can stay as long as you need. I feel safe having someone like you around"
"Oh don't play coy with me now young one, I saw your guns last night. A regular lady dosen't carry a Lancaster Repeater like you did"
Caught by suprise you just gapes at Susan trying to come up with an explanation.
"I- yes I'm kinda on the run from the law"
"Come inside we can discuss this over some breakfast "
Following Susan inside, you look over your shoulder once more scanning the unfamiliar terrain.
At the small wooden table two steaming plates of porridge stand with two cups of coffee. The chairs scrapes slightly against the wooden floor as the two of you sit down.
They start eating in silence listening to the birds chirping outside.
Sighing slightly you drop the spoon into the bowl.
"It's a very long and complicated story. The short version is that I got tricked into a gang and used in bad situations that got a bounty on my head over in new austin "
Susan hums, taking a zip from her coffee.
"Anything you are wondering about? I assume you are new to the area "
A bit baffled at her casual response you just nod muted before finding your voice again.
"I'm mostly curious about the gangs on this side. We had the Del Lobos back there and the Skinners over by tall trees."
"Ah yes of course. We have the O'driscolls nasty types lead by Colm O'driscoll. Then there are the Murfrees over by Annesburg, Lemoyne raiders and Night Folk by the lemoyne country. Then there is well..."
Susan trails off like she is searching for the next best word.
Curiosity creeps into you as you wait for Susan to keep talking.
"The Jacksons. They are mostly around the heartlands but quite often they ride up over here. The gang is lead by Michael, he is one of the most notorious outlaws in the west."
Susan makes eye contact with you a serious look on her face before she breaks into a smile.
"Anyways do you mind helping me with some chores around here? My old hands aren't what they used to be and I would greatly appreciate the help."
Immediately agreeing the two of you head outside to start the working day falling into a routine that quickly becomes comfortable.
2 weeks had now passed since you arrived at the little cabin where Susan lived. You had become very fond of their everyday routine with the chores but you were becoming restless, you were made for the open fields with wind in your hair.
That morning you decided to head out for a few days getting instructions from Susan where to ride and with a promise that you would be back in just a few days time.
You were taking the route through strawberry to check out the town and then over to Valentine to camp near the plains before heading back through Cumberland forest.
Throwing the saddle pad on Stella and then gently placing the saddle after you quickly get the mare ready.
It's still early the sun hanging low over the trees.
Mounting up you wave goodbye to Susan that is standing on the little porch coffe mug in hand.
You were back in her regular clothes now, your guns secure by your hips and your Lancaster in the saddle holster.
They follow the path down towards the big road the trees opening up until they walk out onto the prettiest field ever. Where ever you turn purple flowers bloom around them spreading far away into the distance.
All sorts of animals graze peacefully in the early morning sun. Mount Shaan standing proud and tall over by the side of the field.
Taking a few moments to enjoy the view you finally let the mare fall into a walk. Following the signs that points to Strawberry.
At one point you stop the mare at a passage that gives you an uneasy feeling. This place would be the perfect ambush.
Trotting by the passage quickly the pair soon arrive at Strawberry.
The town is still sleepy, a few townsfolk had awoken and where getting the day started. The shop owner packing up a waggon full of goods to be delivered.
You keep your head down as you pass through the town just taking the place in. You don't want to attract the wrong type of attention or any attention at all to be fair.
Passing through strawberry goes without a hitch but a shaky breath still leaves you. The chase still fresh in your mind even if weeks had passed.
Spotting a sign that points to Valentine you start following them. Urging Stella into an easy canter. Cruising along the roads.
The nature was absolutely breathtaking around here. Rivers flowing peacefully, mountains hugging the meadows and forest areas.
The landscape slowly starts getting more and more civilised, you must be near Valentine
Slowing the mare down into an easy walk you steer her towards the town that lays peacefully ahead.
Steering her towards the main road you look around taking it all in.
Valentine was apparently known as a cattle town, people travelled far to sell their cattle here.
Hitching Stella outside the saloon you walk inside. The atmosphere is loud, guests cheering loudly, poker being played in the corner and drunk men leaning against the bar demanding more.
You adjust your hat so it sits lower on your head, covering a big part of your face.
Silently you make your way over to the bar and tuck yourself into the corner. Observing, Silently.
The bartender approaches quickly catching into your silent demeanor and hands you a whiskey murmuring something about it being on the house.
You sit there for better part of an hour just observing
The saloon door opens suddenly with a bang and in steps three men.
Immediately the room goes quiet and you lock your gaze onto the man that stand in the front.
He is not that tall but his whole aura makes him seems towering. He is lean but well built, muscles forming nicely under his black shirt. His hat hides black curls that spill forward and that's when he smirks.
You can hear the ladies hearts skipping all around the saloon.
"Why the sudden stop? Please go on "
His voice is smooth as silk, the words gracefully rolling off his tounge.
The people around carefully picks up what they were doing but the energy is guarded, like someone very important is in the room right now.
You follow him with your eyes, tucking yourself closer into the corner. He walks to the bar tapping it once and the bartender already has his drink ready, like he has done this many times before.
He talks with ease, his laughter making people turn around. You hear two women whispering frantically behind you
"That's Michael Jackson, the leader of the Jackson Gang"
"Oh I know he is so handsome "
The pair fall into giggles, batting their eyelashes towards him.
Michael tips his hat at them with a slight smirk before walking over to them slowly.
He hasn't noticed you yet in the corner sitting silent, praying he won't look towards you.
"Ladies how are you this fine evening"
The women behind you giggle frantically and as you glancenbackwards youbsee them puff out their chests.
His energy up close is even more electric, it's like the air around him is charged.
He slides into the seat next to the women openly flirting with them, sweet words rolling of his tounge every few seconds.
You drown the rest of your whiskey leaving a coin on the bar for the bartender. Pushing your chair backwards you stand up.
To your discomfort you immediately feel a pair of eyes on you. A quick glance towards the table and Michaels eyes are on you.
You duck your head slightly before hurrying out of the saloon stepping out into the fresh night air.
Stella raises her head with a soft nicker as she spots you.
"Hey there girl, ready to go?"
Mounting up you steer the Appaloosa mare out from the town following a sign that points to strawberry.
Just as they round the corner you look back and spots the three men standing at the entrance of the saloon looking after you.
You didn't like that feeling at all, what if they had ill intentions towards you? You were wanted dead or alive back in the south.
Urging Stella in a galopp the distance grows between them and the town only relaxing when it disappears completely.
It's late now the night sky shining bright above you. Stars twinkling.
You know that Stella is tired, it's been a long day travelling. Steering the mare down a path you slow her down near the river.
A little meadow lays infront of you, a few trees partially covering it so it's easily missed from the road.
Dismounting Stella you hitch her to a tree before setting up an overnight camp. Crawling into the tent you drift off to sleep
It's only a few hours later when you wake up hastily, angry voices heard from the river.
Silently you crawl out of the tent, sneaking towards a tree that gives you a better listening point. Gun in hand ready to intervene
"Hand over the money or you're dead, do you hear me!?"
One man stands over another that is on his knees trembling on the ground. Another man is standing behind him gun pointed.
"Are you deaf? The money now!"
Another man walks forward from the shadows "now now Jermaine is that really how we treat others?"
Ice runs through your veins. That voice, you heard it before in the saloon. It was the man that sat behind you and watched you leave.
The noise of a gunshot being fired echos throughout the night, the sound of a body slumping forward.
You peak out from the tree and sees the man on the ground laying lifeless now and the man Jermaine searching his body.
You press yourself closer to the tree praying they won't notice you. Closing your eyes you await the sound of horses leaving.
Instead you feel the cool barrel of a gun pressed to your temple.
Your eyes immediately fly open and you meet the man from the saloons eyes. Even if he did recognise you nothing could be revealed from his eyes.
"You didn't see a thing " he says softly, a hint of danger in his voice.
At first you just stands frozen staring at him, heart racing.
It's when you hear the click of the gun being reloaded that you find your voice.
"I didn't see a thing " you get out voice trembling slightly.
The gun falls from your temple and he leans forward leaving only a few inches between them
He takes a step back before walking away mounting a big black horse, disappearing into the darkness with the other men close behind.
Your hands are trembling and you fumble with the saddle only wanting to get away from this place.
Mounting up you urge Stella in a fast galopp, heading towards the little cabin outside of strawberry to safety.
They make ground quickly, Stella with new energy keeps a great pace until you spot the big field and up ahead the light is shining in the cabin.
"Just a little bit more, you are doing so good"
You prais the mare who keeps up the pace getting them home fast and safe.
Dismounting you lead Stella into the shed, taking of her saddle and bridle. Giving her hay and water before brushing her off.
Walking into the cabin you try to stay quiet to not wake Susan but just as you're tiptoing towards the room you are borrowing the click of a rifle is heard
"Who's there" Susan barks out a rifle in hand.
Susan immediately relaxes putting the rifle down
"You scared me half to death, why are you here already Y/n?"
"I- There was this group of men I had a run in with today. Frightened me a bit so I came here instead "
Susan raises an eyebrow gesturing towards the chairs at the little table.
Sitting down you sigh slightly wringing your hands a bit nervously.
"What did they look like? What happened?"
"There were three men. One of them stood out, when he walked into the saloon the room shifted. He had curly black hair and everyone respected him without a word"
"Sounds like you met Mr. Michael Jackson himself."
You only hum slightly deep in thought about the events that recently played out.
"You must be exhausted my dear, off to bed with you"
Susan chases you off to bed, seeing the exhaustion clear as day.
Undressing you lay down in the bed, drifting off to sleep once again dreams filled with a certain curly haired man.
Another few weeks had just passed and the life you lived here was a complete opposite to the wild chase you lived in the south.
But you had now found a new hatred in life the cocky bastard called Michael Jackson.
You had unfortunately ran into him on multiple occasions since their first meeting.
At first you didn't pay attention to him until he started turning up everywhere and he was insufferable.
They quickly went from strangers to enemies in a matter of weeks
You wanted to wipe that pretty smile of his face every single day.
He had taken a liking to teasing you, tormenting you everyday.
Dropping jokes and comments, making so far empty threats.
His favourite thing was to press you into a corner, chests pressing together as he whispered something absolutely filthy in your ear in that husky voice of his before walking away with a smirk.
He enjoyed seeing you squirm
The worst thing about this was that he knew he was unstoppable.
The confidence he had walking around when his face was plastered everywhere. The bounty on his head larger then many.
It was yet another day and you were in Valentine. The town had become a favourite place of yours, the locals were always happy to see you.
You were just leaving the gunsmith when the first shot rang out.
Quickly taking cover behind a wagon you spot the O'driscoll boys shooting wildly at Michael and a few of his gang members.
You could clearly see that the O'driscolls had the upper hand, you might hate Michael but you didn't want him to die just yet.
Slinging your Lancaster off your shoulder you take shot after shot bringing the O'driscolls down.
Sprinting across the road you take cover in a passage between houses
"How thoughtful of you to help"
You spin around and there Michael stands smirking as usually
"Can't let you die just yet, haven't tormented you enough"
Michael just chuckles lowly at that taking a few steps closer, firing his gun towards the opening but his eyes never leaving yours.
You hear bodies hitting the ground meaning he didn't miss at all.
He is impossibly close once again, his breath fanning over your face
"Admit it you are helping because you actually like me don't you"
You stubbornly turn your face to the side refusing eye contact
Michael shakes his head pressing his leg in between yours. The friction makes you let out a tiny gasp
Begrudgingly looking back at him you spot him smirking like he just found gold.
"Don't you dare" you grit forward trying to ignore the ache between your legs.
"What if I don't?" He whispers in your ear before thrusting his thigh forward making you gasp again.
In your haze you spot movement behind them, you immediately reach for your cattleman revolver shooting the O'driscoll in the head.
Michael spins around shocked before turning back to you
"Maybe you should focus on your surroundings and not getting your dick wet Michael " you shoot two other O'driscolls before running over the road again to take cover.
As he stands there gazing after you shaking his head before a gunshot whistles past him getting into action easily killing every single O'driscoll that is left standing.
You stare at him from across the road eye contact heavy before the whistle from the sheriff breaks the moment. You quickly duck away with one last look at Michael standing there.
Mounting up you urge the mare into a fast canter, steering her towards strawberry.
You can hear the shouts of the lawmen searching for them, passing over the water you look over your shoulder to see if anyone is following you.
That's when the bullet strikes
It hits you to the right of your stomach, tearing through the skin and into the flesh.
The pain is immediate crashing into you like a wave of fire burning hot making you wheeze for air.
Your body looses control slipping from the saddle with a thud, landing on the muddy ground. Blood seeping through your shirt
You hear two voices laughing coming closer
"She is dead lets leave the bitch here to rot"
The voices that were close fades away leaving you alone with only Stella nearby.
Your loyal mare whines in distress, trying to get you to stand up
"It's okay girl, go find Susan. You've been so brave, thank you for everything "
Stella lowers her head and shoves your body upwards. The move making you lift slightly of the ground.
It's incredibly painful but it gave you a fighting chance.
Taking a breath you ready yourself for the mares push and uses the last of your powers to get back on your feet.
Immediately your legs nearly buckle under you but you manage to stay upright
Leaning heavily against Stella you press a hand to the gunshot trying to stop the bleeding. Stella knickers distressed again but stands perfectly still for you
"I can't walk, I'll have to get up on you somehow Stella"
It's like the mare understands the importance of the situation because suddenly she carefully lays down giving you an easy way to just step over her.
You want to cry both from pain but also from the love you feel for this clever mare. Carefully sliding your left leg over her, Stella slowly stands up with you on her back.
The movement jolts you slightly and you bite your lip to distract yourself from the pain.
Stella slowly starts walking, careful to not take a step wrong. Determined to get you home.
You lose track of where you are after a bit, the world going blurry and sleep sounding very tempting.
Slumping forward in the saddle you try to keep yourself upright and awake but it's getting harder for every passing second.
Laboured breaths and Stellas hooves walking on the soft ground being the only noise around them.
You slip in and out of consciousness, the hand pressed against your abdomen now sticky with blood.
Stella suddenly lifts her head and neighs loudly
You hear a door open and feet hurriedly coming closer
"Oh my dear, you are safe now I've got you"
A pair of hands gently help you down from Stella half dragging your limp body inside helping you into a soft bed
"Susan....." you gasp out weakly
"Save your breath dear girl, you need the energy to heal "
"If I don't make it, promise me you will take care of Stella"
"Of course you will make it "
"Promise me Susan" you grit out
The elderly women falters slightly before sighing "I promise "
You relax at her words, world slowly fading into black as you finally pass out.
Days had passed since you had been shot. Susan had tended to your wound every day, carefully cleaning and treating it. Your whole midsection was wrapped in white bandages to keep it protected.
You had been sleeping most of the time, a fever taking claim of your already weak body. Waking up a few minutes at a time to sip some water or a spoonful of soup.
When the fever finally went away you were still weak and unable to do anything. Susan didn't complain one bit she just took care of you and Stella.
Finally after 10 days in bed you've had enough.
Your body itching with restlessness and a need to get out. Supplies were running low also, you had a perfect plan.
You convinced Susan to let you go up to strawberry and back just to the market to buy some supplies then you would come straight back.
She was hesitant at first but quickly gave up realising your stubborn ass would never give up.
She helped you saddle up Stella and off you went.
Finally you felt the wind in your hair and Stellas rhythmic walk under you.
The movement did tug a bit at the wound but you would never admit that.
The ride to strawberry was peaceful and calm. You enjoyed every second of it, breathing in the fresh air.
Arriving in the town you dismount Stella, hitching her outside the general store.
Walking inside the store owner immediately lits up and welcomes you back warmly. Saying how missed you've been. After chatting with him for a bit he helps you load up Stellas saddlebags with everything before you mount up again.
As promised you immediately steer the mare towards home. You were starting to get a bit tired, the healing taking a toll on you.
What you didn't notice were the two gang members by the hotel who immediately mounted up, galloping away to inform their boss that you had been spotted.
Michael had noticed immediately when you were gone and had sent the whole camp on look out for you.
As the days had passed his worry and anger grew. Snapping at his gang members, he needed to know where you were.
The two members basically ran their horses into the nearby camp, gasping out "we've seen her, just left strawberry "
Michael mounted up without a word steering his horse towards the town.
Meanwhile you were nearing the passage that always creeped you out when Stella stops and looks around.
"What's the matter girlie?"
"I thought we killed you woman"
An oily voice echos out from the rocks, before two O'driscolls step out with nasty grins.
"Ought to finish the job then, can't have such vermin running around"
You still being half injured and slow in your movements stand no chance as one of the men yanks you off Stellas back.
You can feel the gunshot wound ripping open and you bite your lip hard, a metallic taste spreading throughout your mouth.
You feel the cool blade of a knife being pressed against your neck and you close your eyes not wanting to see their faces as the last memory.
Two gunshots ring out and the knife against your throat falls limp and you hear two bodies fall to the ground.
You slump forward eyes still tightly shut.
Two gentle hands take yours and you open your eyes at the soft touch.
Michael is kneeling next to you, eyes scanning over you for any visible injuries.
Apart from the cut on your neck and busted lip you looked relatively fine.
He dosen't say anything but helps you up to your feet.
The pain in your abdomen makes you want to scream but you keep quiet, afraid of showing weakness.
Michael lets go of you to take a step back but quickly catches you again when you nearly crumble to the ground.
Instinctively you press your hands to the gunshot wound and Michael eyes immediately follows that movement.
He dosen't ask and you don't stop him as he carefully lifts your shirt up. His face immediately hardens when he sees the white bandages wrapped around your torso, a red spot growing bigger.
His voice is low and demanding like he wants to make sure the ones responsible would get a one-way ticket to hell.
You gesture to the bodies behind you and Michael frowns before whistling over his horse.
Before you can really comprehend what's happening you are on his horse and he is mounting up behind you. He commands the horse into a smooth canter holding you gently close to him.At the last second you remember to whistle for Stella and the mare quickly follows.
The journey goes smoothly, the energy is heavy between the two of you and no one says a word. You try to focus on anything but his arms around you, his veiny hands that carefully steers the horse forward.
Arriving at a small cabin near Owanjila Michael dismounts first before helping you down. When your feet hit the ground a sharp pain makes you gasp and Michael is immediately there hands hovering in a protective manner.
He looks at you for a few seconds before scooping you up easily, carrying you inside bridal style.
Never in a million years could you had imagined this moment, your sworn enemy saving you and tending to your wounds.
Michael gently sets you down on a chair before grabbing supplies all over the cabin.
He crouches down infront of you rolling up your shirt half way to assess the damage.
It's silent in the cabin while Michael carefully cleans your wounds before rewrapping your torso.
"Straight home now, do not stop for anyone "
You just nod before finally finding your voice.
"Why did you save me? You hate me?"
Michael who was already a step out the door froze before turning around slowly. His eyes dark, passionate.
"Hate? It was never about hate for me darling "
With those words he spins around again leaving you alone. Dumbfounded you stare after his retreating figure your mind spinning in 120.
When your limbs finally starts working Michael is long gone. Only the whisper of his touch left and his parting words, it was never about hate.
Unbeknownst to you Michael was heading to gather his gang to show Colm O'driscoll to not mess with someone that belonged to Michael Jackson.
You mount up on Stella giving her long reins to guide you home. Michaels words spinning and turning. It was never about hate?
You couldn't deny his charm and unfairly gorgeous face but his actions spoke louder. Giving more thought to past interactions realisation slowly dawn. He was your enemy but you were never his.
Swallowing hard you feel a rain drop hit your skin. Looking up you see that the clear sky had turned cloudy and grey. The rain quickly picks up as you sigh.
Anxiety buzzes under your skin, had you ruined everything? You were harsh, unfair towards him. Blinded by hatred that never existed.
You spoke to no-one but the nature. Stella flicked her ears backwards listening to you. The sinking feeling of messing up claws at your throat.
The two of you were getting near hanging dog ranch. A place known for an O'driscoll hideout. A gunshot is heard in the distance and you go rigid immediately stopping Stella.
After a few minutes of nothing else only the rain hitting the ground you let Stella fall into a walk again.
Heart beating fast, you were on high alert.
Suddenly Stella stops pinning her ears forward listening for something.
It takes a few seconds before you hear it, the thundering of hooves.
You both stare out into the distance before a big shadow starts coming closer. Soon the shadow turns into a big black shire with his rider.
They slow down spotting the two of you before coming closer. That's when you recognise that it's Michael.
"I thought I said straight home? What are you still doing out and in the rain?"
You stare at him trying to find any words "I am, a bit slow tho"
Gesturing lightly towards your stomach.Michaels face hardens before he shakes his head.
Michael follows where you are pointing before nodding.
"I'll follow you there, need to know that you are safe."
You don't comment on that just letting him fall into the place next to Stella.
The whole ride to Susans cabin you try to find the right words but everything feels wrong.
Arriving at the small cabin Michael dismounts helping you down from the horse. You two stare at each other and right now would be wonderful if your brain could kick in bit nothing.
Michael breaks first tipping his hat before walking over to his horse. Just as he is about to mount up you finally find your common sense and voice.
He turns around, looking straight at you, one eyebrow raised waiting for you to continue.
"Thank you, You didn't have to save me and I just thank you"
A brief look of disappointment pass by in his eyes before he gives another curt nod.
As the rain falls down you suddenly get the courage you need. Taking a few quick steps you turn him around to face you once again before leaning up and kissing him.
The kiss is short but heavy and you lean down looking up at him as he stands frozen.
Was this a mistake? Had you read everything wrong, backing up two steps you don't get farther before Michael is pulling you in kissing you back.
It's intense and it's leaves you gasping for air as the two of you part.
"I've wanted to do that since the first night at the saloon"
Michael chuckles lowly tucking a piece of hair behind your ear.
"Of course. It's not often a women hides from me"
You whack him against his chest turning around walking away with a huff.
"Not so fast there, of course you are the only one in my sight now"
You fix him with a fake glare and a pout which quickly melts away as he kisses you again and again.
Someone clears their throat behind you two.
Susan stands there with a knowing smile and you immediately flush red.
"Not a common sight I have to say"
"Susan nice to see you again "
To your suprise Michael greets her like an old friend.
"Michael it's been so long, I do expect your company a bit more from now on then"
You stand there utterly confused not getting any answers as Susan bids the two of you goodbye going into the house again.
Michael looks down at you with a soft smile before shaking his head.
"That's a story for another day, let me just enjoy your company without you trying to kill me"
The west was never the same after that day. The most feared outlaw had found his match. Riding over the lands, toying with the law. It was them against the world.
