R.is one of the children part of the “Second Chance” program. For all the school age children, Parada has a program called “Second Chance” which aims to reintegrate those who did not have the means to attend classes regularly and supports them in achieving the equivalent of GCSEs to ensure they can be employable. 

Parada has connections with employers from the catering and tourism industry who are willing to give the young adults a chance for training and employment. There is to be considered the reality of discrimination and stigmatisation as the majority of the people helped by Parada have roma origins. However they are Romanian citizens and Parada aims to end this situation by providing everyone with the tools for being a respectable and respected member of society.

This week I will be posting archive images from the collaborative project made in September 2014 with the young people from ‪#‎Parada‬ in ‪#‎Bucharest‬,founded 20 years ago,in 1996 by Miloud Ouliki.

Parada was set up to provide children and teenagers living on the streets of Bucharest with training to become street performers, support with state education, counselling, medical care as well as food and clothing. 

N. is one of the beneficiaries of Parada. At the day centre she receives support with her homework, as well as one of the two meals a day provided here for anyone who comes at the centre. She helps out with cleaning and tidying up . She said to be in love with one of the boys that comes to Parada. This week I will be posting archive images from the collaborative project made in September 2014 with the young people from #Parada in #Bucharest,founded in 1996 by @MiloudOuliki. Parada was set up to provide children and teenagers living on the streets of Bucharest with training to become street performers, support with state education,counselling, medical care as well as food and clothing. The major part of the beneficiaries of the #ngo are children from families of #roma origins which live on the fringes of society, yet many of them young grow to become independent and self-sufficient adults, integrated in society and they maintain their links with #Parada by #volunteering there and becoming mentors for the youngest.

Today’s story is about F. : he comes to the day centre at #ParadaRomania to receive support with his education, be part of the training for street performances and to play football with his friends here. As Parada Romania turns 20 years old, it keeps on going. Founded in 1996,it was set up to provide children and teenagers living on the streets of Bucharest with training to become street circus performers, support with state education, counselling, medical care, food and clothing. Most of the beneficiaries at Parada are young adults, hovever many grow into independent and self-sufficient adults and mainain contact with the centre, they become volunteers and mentors for the youngest.

M. pictured above comes to the day centre to receive advice and support. She is one of the thousand children having to live in the streets of the Romanian capital. I wonder how she is now.

M. took some photographs explaining "I took these images because whenever I'm ill or sad, I come to miss Claudia and she'll either give me pills or talk to me"(3 images below her portrait)

Parada has an in-house friendly and efficient service of counselling which provides psychological and medical support as well as practical advice for administrative issues such as obtaining an ID card in view of future employment.

The sea is a great inspiration for many; for me, it is a contemplation of things past and things to come.

Closing the year adrift in my thoughts about my own photographic work, I will emerge in the New Year with fresh energy and ideas.

Betawood also makes traditional style surf toys hand made in Cornwall. 

For me, it was a first photographing boards for surf so my visual imagination was fed by some of my peers who have developed this visual language way before I.

I helped to revamp Betawood’s beautiful etsy shop with taking a few photographs. 

 It was easy to get enthused by the quality and beautiful textures of the different objects.
