Sharing my zine about the Ditty Bops (#7)
[text: I ordered the albums immediately. I never got into them like I had the original album - for quality or content, who can say. But it did warm my heart to see that the beloved (and loving) couple was still active. Upon recent examination of their site, Abby and Amanda seem to be focusing on the visual arts. I still listen to their old stuff, but with a new perspective: this queer couple shaped my musical tastes, and I turned out to be queer like them.]
Sharing my zine about the Ditty Bops (#6)
[text: I was left with the calendar (and their two existing albums) for a long while. When I started my coffeehouse job in college, a coworker mentioned his fondness for the Ditty Bops and suggested that we bring them to campus. Unfortunately they weren’t touring, but the conversation reminded me to check in on them occasionally. That’s when I found the four(!) albums they had released since I last thought of them.]

This spread is based off the calendar cover. In physical zine format, it folds out of the middle of the zine.

[text: Another highlight of my fandom was when my uncle sent me a signed copy of the Ditty Bops’ 2008 calendar]

Sharing my zine about the Ditty Bops, a page a week (#3)
[text: Around 7th grade I saw the Ditty Bops play a show in Ann Arbor. It was dreamy! I didn’t know yet that they were a couple, but I definitely picked up on a ~vibe.~ And I was sporting an early queer aesthetic.]
Sharing my zine about the Ditty Bops, a page a week (#2)
[text: After that I always requested to listen to the Ditty Bops when I ran errands with my dad on the weekends. These car rides were our primary time together, and while my dad introduced me to a lot of music, few artists inspired in me such an enduring passion as the Ditty Bops.]

[text: For a long time, my favorite band was the Ditty Bops. I first heard this special duo around age 10 when my dad blasted one of their songs in our living room]
I have a new zine out! It’s about The Ditty Bops, one of my all-time favorite bands. You can find it at Fantom Comics in DC and also at DC zinefest this summer!
The Guilt Trip, Part H
I went to Europe with my dad in September. It was our first trip alone together. I produced this travelogue while in Europe, spending nights in the hotel drawing and collaging about my experiences. The travelogue also served as my journal, so that’s why you’ll see some panels boxed out.
This is the last installment! Thanks for reading.
