I inhaled deeply, filling my lungs. A slow exhale into the dark night sends a cloud of smoke spiraling up into the stars. I looked at the boy beside me, finding his dark brown eyes with my light blue ones. I smile lazily at him; smile despite the pit in my stomach, the discomfort at the back of my mind. Even with the clouds of smoke circling in my head, I can focus on two things very clearly. His dark brown eyes and the voice in my head whispering, “how did this happen?”
