I think the lengthy process of making this was quite fitting though as the inspiration for this really was to be a love letter to the creative process. Originally inspired by the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea, where Pygmalion falls in love with the statue he’s created, I wanted to switch the focus to the love a creator puts into the things they make. Definitely a response as well to the sudden surge of AI art, I’ve been thinking a lot about the act of creation vs. the ability to just press a button and have art magically appear. There’s something very human and lovely about putting so much time into making something, so in this piece it’s the creator’s love for their work, and the time and effort behind it that brings the statue to life. :)
