HAUS TUGENDHAT (2013)
This photograph is from a set by architect John Pawson, which he pairs with the Ludwig Hilberseimer quote:Â Â âNo photograph of this house can convey the right impressionâ. One has to move around in this house, its rhythm is like musicâ.
Thatâs also petty much the impetus behind this blog. Successful buildings arenât designed to be experienced as static images. Of course, they arenât designed to explored on video, either, but at least there we can begin to get a sense of the way they exist as ever-changing three dimensional objects/spaces, in constant interplay with their users and environments. This particular film looks at the scars left on Mies Van Der Roheâs iconic building by social, political, and environmental forces, and at the process of restoring it.
