Sir Granger of the Malachite Order
Granger was the youngest of the Dirkgan Five, a group of villagers who pledged to the Malachite Order in their plot to break a local lord's control over a silver mine.
Lord Brannes was exploitative to the point of tyranny, and he ran afoul of the order when he turned them away from his lands following a harsh campaign that left them wounded.
The Malachite Order were considered renegades locally for years, but they were later welcomed as folk heroes. Despite this, the Dirkgan Five never returned to their village - their oath to the Malachite Order never fulfilled.
MAGNA OPERA: SETTING THE STAGE
2026 PD
20 years have passed since the Church of the Horizon collapsed in explosive sectarian war.
With the continued decline of the Old Carminian Empire, the map has begun to crystalize into a kaleidoscope of nations, old and new.
Now its people struggle to build a world of their envisioning: the seeds planted during war, growing on the battlefield.
As a new age begins to dawn, ghosts of the old order glare out from the dark, awaiting their return.
A return of law and order to a world bereft of God's Hand.
"She was like lightning. Utterly terrifying. A force of nature. But she lit the night as if to remind us that the darkness was not forever.
If not for her, that Demon Lady would have killed everyone in the castle. Of that I'm certain."
- Hamiya Hitoshi, a doctor and trauma responder, on an unknown figure who appeared during the battle of Heaven's Basin.

The Royal Defense Legion
• The Royal Knights, Army, and Armada are together known as the Royal Defense Legion (RDL) which ultimately reports to Duke Ardor
• Royal Knighthood - An elite branch of the Royal Army
○ Shares jurisdiction with the Royal Army
○ Reports directly to Duke Ardor and upper echelons have command authority over the Royal Army
○ Royal Knights are equipped with all kinds of equipment and personnel to complete their missions, regardless of branch association – but specialize in Close Combat Special Operations and Autogear Cavalry Operations
• Crown Knights – Domestic Security contingent of the Royal Knights
○ Reports directly to the King
○ Jurisdiction is within Carmina's borders: other branches have strong restrictions against domestic operations (The result of royal paranoia, and legitimate precedent)
○ Crown Knight forces may be "loaned" to the Royal Knights for foreign operations in times of war
○ However, Crown Knights retain certain distinctions, and Regional Chiefs always report directly to the King
○ Crown Knights are outfitted with military-grade gear such as Autogear Cavalry, though less so than other branches
• Royal Army – Ground forces of the Royal Defense Legion
○ Jurisdiction is foreign operations
○ Largest branch of the RDL, consisting of regular army and free knights (Knights not commissioned as Royal Knights, but temporarily commissioned by Army command)
• Royal Sorcery – Regular mage forces and their dedicated support, of the Royal Defense Legion
○ Responsible for all magical operations outside Carminia's borders
○ Pure magic is the jurisdiction of the Royal Sorcery, but alchemy is freely used across all branches
• Royal Armada - Naval forces for the Royal Defense Legion
○ Responsible for domestic and foreign naval operations
○ The Royal Fleet is divided into domestic and external operations, administered under distinct chains of command
A mockup title screen, should the analog become digital. I seriously can't settle on a title, but at this point Magna Opera can't be more than a subtitle. The apparent hubris of it is... concerning lol

It's been fascinating seeing the reaction to the poll. The Destiel fans seem to think their ship deserves to stay popular and relevant just because... it used to be popular and relevant, I guess? Reading these tags has such a flavor of entitlement, it's really something.
It's like they're not realizing that the standards for what qualifies as good representation, or even a good show, have shifted in the last 10 or so years. Not realizing that a lot of people who were here back then, like me, never cared for Supernatural, and don't agree it was important at all, and would not be interested in celebrating it. Not realizing that other fandoms have been happening around them, and that some, like in the case of Mobile Suit Gundam, have legacies that reach back to decades before Supernatural was even on the air.
Destiel is such a product of its time. It's a fanon ship that, as I recall, was strongly disliked by its show's staff, acknowledged only because the fans demanded it so much. The ending of Supernatural was widely mocked, and the show is now mostly remembered as that meme people learn the news through.
Sulemio meanwhile had the full, joyous support of its staff, and was canon since the first episode of Gundam Witch. The whole show's plot revolved around this pairing. The Gundam franchise hit record sales numbers during and after the show. Sulemio brought hundreds if not thousands of new people into the mecha audience, and got many of them interested in the hobby of building Gunpla. Suletta and Miorine being canonically married even stood out politically, because gay marriage is not legal in Japan.
Is this not progress? Is this not worth celebrating? Why cling to the old and busted when the new hotness is doing such great things?
"Be serious", they say. But I am serious. I've been serious the whole time.
Maybe it's not for me to understand.
I can't believe that fucking tumblr is going through a conservative / progressive political schism and it's about shipping.
Actually now that I say that out loud it makes perfect sense.
Mercurial Knight
The heavily equipped knights serving the Grale King, Dr. Anfortas. They swiftly execute the will of the doctor, whose body has putrified beyond recognition.
These knights are fast despite their size and bear decorative wings throughout their bodies. Optimized for pursuit, they act more as interceptors of enemies of the Templars, and special operations needed to progress in Grale Stone research.
Knight of the OAM
A warrior swearing his fealty to the Odissian Applied Mechanics corporation. In exchange for a financial fief, they serve the company in various capacities, including but not limited to company security and enforcement.
This is common across the corporate world, with each company having their own variations and fees provided to their knights. The practice is known in the corporate world as Primary Mobilization, or Feudal Capital.

Isalid, Blade of Justice
Old concept for Isalid, the faery that was miraculously incorporated into a cyborg homunculus.
Inspired by his childhood friend's heroic nature, and set in finding that friend again, Isalid travels in search of him, doing good along the way.
However, he shares the body with the consciousness of the woman who trapped him in there.
The frontier of science is not without its complications...
Personal:
I'm Oshii pilled, and that means a Kawai supplement. Oshii's work is probably a good benchmark for the atmosphere I'm chasing here.
Chiaro the Monk
Chiaro was raised on an unsettled island by the animals and fae that inhabited it. He did not meet another human until he was 16, and by then had focused his being on the pursuit of spiritual development over all else.
Chiaro had no wish to integrate back into society.
Old Concept for Avro and the eccentric spiritualist, Chiaro. Though their goals align, their approaches to life are divergent. They respect each other, but think nothing alike, and they've been known to scrap.
Avro is grounded, always living for the next day and keeping his eyes and heart focused on the people and things around him. His concerns are with the material world.
Chiaro shuns the physical as transient, and people as pieces in a larger cosmic configuration. Though not nihilistic, Chiaro can often be callous, and is generally more concerned with spiritual practice than human interaction.
Armor in modern (circa 225CC) combat is entirely distinct in nature from traditional hard armor.
Whereas traditional armor is meant to deflect, diffuse, or otherwise protect the wearer via material shielding, modern armor relies on a technology known as AK (Akinetic) shielding.
Made of softer, more lightweight materials, AK armor compensates by generating an AK field around the wearer to protect from all manner of incoming physical assault.

An old rough sketch of Avro and Bluebell. Slightly outdated designs. Also some scaling issues. Alas.
