a/n - okay, i think im finally ready to get back into the rhythm of writing SORRY THIS IS SO LATE AND I HOPE THIS MEETS YOUR EXPECTATIONS ANGST SCARES ME :((((((

giyuu's eyes remain fixated upon the movement of your lips against uzui's, your small breaths of pleasure evident even across the room that giyuu just entered. oyakata-sama had planned a party after the defeats of rui and gyutaro for the hashira and their loved ones -- soju bottles were scattered across rooms in heaps as evidence of the attendee's enjoyment.

giyuu had left to use the restroom just a couple of minutes before, smiling so incredibly softly at your drunken figure, patting your head patiently as he reminded you twice where he was going just so you were aware. he placed you gently on a nearby couch, uzui's bright smile reassuring giyuu that uzui would take protect you till his dying breath.

giyuu didn't know that his protection entailed you sitting on uzui's lap, chest to chest, peppering his neck with kisses as you drunkenly laughed at uzui's wives' cheers behind you.

giyuu blinked. the millisecond of darkness he encompassed himself in offered a brief respite, a respite that encouraged him to turn on his heel and leave.

giyuu's face remained stoic as his heart felt as if it was being punctured slowly, skin becoming flushed from embarrassment, sadness filtering in every single nerve he had. giyuu's energy was being sapped faster than any fight with a demon he had every encountered, and his long hair shielded the tears that started to collect at his lashline. his pace was slow as he walked out of the house, missing uzui’s shouts to come back and join. then he walked some more, finding a nearby stream splattering softly on its beds.

perhaps giyuu didn't do a good enough job telling his friends that you were his girlfriend, and his girlfriend only. perhaps he should have just made you stand outside the bathroom to ensure you were safe. perhaps....

giyuu's mind spiraled, until it hit a mind-shattering reality: you looked so happy. and in that instant, giyuu knew that he would never be enough. he could never compare to uzui tengen. a year’s worth of a private relationship with someone like him could not compare to just an hour’s worth of meeting uzui. 

giyuu sat in solitude, never feeling as alone as he felt in that moment. he wrapped his stitched up yukata closer to his body, and laid his head to rest on his pwn shoulder, succumbing himself to the night.

hanma usually only thought of people as two things: objects for him to bash up, or creatures meant to meet his needs. this adrenaline junkie had a strange affinity toward finding amusement in the people he interacted with, an addiction that raged within him even when he realized that he was so powerful that he could physically defeat almost anyone who dared to challenge him.

everyone was aware of hanma's tendencies. so it made sense why they were confused when hanma introduced you as his girlfriend.

now you....you were quite literally hanma's opposite. you embodied the notions of cool, calm, and collected -- an innate set of values that didn't shake even when you were faced with either extreme of emotions. so unfortunately, more often than not, people mistook your level-headedness for robotic lifelessness, deeming you incapable of reacting to human emotion.

of course, however, hanma knew the real you. the real you who would make him his bento boxes every morning, offer to drive him to where-ever he needed to go on your motorcycle, give him a stabilizing hug whenever his fighting adrenaline would get too out of hand. you CARED. you cared about the litter of kittens in the abandoned grocery store parking lot, you cared about the nail technician you've been visiting ever since you were old enough to pay for yourself, you cared about the new trees being planted in front of the town hall.

hanma had always found it amusing when people around him questioned your sincerity and mistook it for annoyance.

especially when currently, you were consoling a lost 2-year-old child beside the amusement park teacup ride you and hanma had ridden just for the kick of it.

his cries were shushed by your soft kisses and small reassurances, cradling him into your neck as you patted his back with your left hand, carrying him comfortably. hanma had a smile on his face (you caught a glimpse and immediately reprimanded him with a sharp smack to his chest), but he just found it amusing.

the girlfriend of an insane, murdering delinquent was consoling a baby hardly old enough to talk.

his arm slid to your waist, bringing you and subsequently the small child closer to his towering frame, shielding the scene with his body. eventually, the young boy felt comfortable enough to talk sandwiched in the warmth of two people, messily wiping his tears up with his chubby fingers.

you waved to a park police officer with your hand once you were able to glean the boy's name, telling the official what the problem was.

hanma didn't fail to notice how you refused to put the boy down and leave, choosing instead to sacrifice your own amusement park time to ensure that the boy found his parents safely. and he did, the frantic parents offering enough of a distraction that hanma slipped you away from the police officer who began to look at him questionably. he gave him a tiny smirk, throwing a hand over your shoulder, and disappeared.

you frowned, and smacked his chest again, your eyebrows furrowing in annoyance. "you should have left, hanma," you began, "he could have recognized you."

hanma just had to grin at that.

"i would have beaten them up, baby," he smirked again, leaning down to kiss your cheek softly.

“….she’s not here again, is she?” nervously murmured your second-in-charge to his other division members, not willing to face hanma’s wrath alone. but by the glint in his yellow pupil, hanma had already suspected that you chose to skip AGAIN.

your division twitched nervously at the packed meeting every member was technically supposed to attend, and all the disappointed stares they received in the humid arcade. we’re really gonna get it, they thought.

and get it they did. hanma made his other divisions chase around your division in laps, your subordinates practically shitting themselves with tears running down their faces. why were they cursed with a lazy leader???

however, when they all somehow managed to hide from hanma’s gang, they stormed to your one-person apartment, ready to yell their ears off to you. their fists tightened in retaliation, bouncing on their toes, planning exactly what to say to you to make you more responsible.

but when you had opened the door and the smell of freshly-made cinnamon rolls wafted outside, their resolve crumbled.

“hehe, guys! welcome back!! good job surviving!!” your pumped up fist was met with sudden enthusiasm, your simple-minded boys flitting inside to taste your food. you giggled, knowing you would get away once more with your antics.

you removed your oven mitts and placed them on your living room night table, leaning upward to kiss hanma who had just come out of the bathroom. lmfao your boys would piss themselves again as soon as they stormed out of your kitchen and turned to see hanma in your hallway.

a little fun was never TOO MUCH of a problem after all…..at least for you <3

muzan x reader

summary: after waking up in a strange bed, in a strange room, in a strange house, the only thing you can do is blindly trust a man who introduced himself as tsukihiko. can you bear the consequences? 

warnings: kind of kidnapping, demons, violence, blood, human “meat”, possessiveness…

muzan almost appreciated how much you accepted being a demon. it wasn’t expected to be seamless, but the way you interacted with those under him (and technically those under you now even if you may not acknowledge it) made whatever left of his heart stutter. he felt proud, for some reason. and unfortunately, he could now very confidently admit that you messed with the amount of time he dedicated to eradicating the demon slayer corps. but he also figured that he would have a thousand lifetimes to do so anyway. after all, he was supreme.

he also came to realize how much you affected him on the regular after seeing how you had once brought rui into your room. 

a couple of moons ago he had finally come back from a short mission and genuinely just wanted to lay his head on your neck and close his eyes, even if he couldn’t sleep. he craved your warmth, your touch, your presence — it calmed him, and he wanted nothing more than to just remove his uncomfortable suit and lay close to you in your heavy comforters. but to his dismay, he had picked up on chatter coming from your wing, his enhanced hearing capabilities rendering him absolutely shocked. the only person you allowed into your room was him and himari.

how dare you allow someone without his permission?

within the blink of an eye he stood at your door, hearing the conversation occurring within your quarters, his tired demeanor twitching out of control. his eyes flashed when he recognized rui’s emotionless voice, and his hand quietly destroyed the door that separated him from you, hiding his aura defensively.

there you were, at the foot of your bed, back pressed against the side as you allowed rui to rest on your shoulder on the floor. 

muzan moved to rip rui off of you but you had given him a glare so fierce that he paused. the aura you were giving off was so protecting, comforting, defending….motherly. you were consoling rui, who was resting so still with his eyes closed. muzan couldnt give a flying fuck why, but he itched to have you in his arms again and he figured the best way to achieve what he wanted was to stay quiet just a little bit longer. muzan had flexed the veins in his hands and rolled his neck around, not used to trying to reign himself in.

it was only after a few moments he was able to hear your calm voice speaking to rui, comforting him: “you’ll find your family again, rui. i promise. and of course ill be there for you! so don’t feel bad, don’t feel bad, don’t feel bad….” muzan wasn’t exactly used to hearing such reassuring words, and his own eyes softened. 

still managing to hide his presence from rui, muzan willed himself to regain rational thought: it became clear that rui was craving the family muzan had helped kill….muzan wasn’t sure how you would react to that. and a sickening feeling encroached past every cell in his body that wanted to make sure you never found out.

within a singular moment, muzan used his advanced intelligence to conjure up ways he could kill rui without you questioning him. rui may have reminded him of himself, but it did not matter in the least bit. rui was expendable. you were more important, and he couldn’t afford to lose you. he was consumed by his own thoughts until your words brought him back to reality once more, like you always did, shock slowly settling into muzan’s bones. 

“rui, don’t transform any more humans to be your family.”

a flare of annoyance had passed through muzan at your words. you were limiting what muzan had allowed rui to do, and he honestly wasn’t sure yet how he felt about that. he would have to....communicate with you. you really had influenced him too much. 

rui opened his eyes slowly at your command, and he was met with muzan’s piercing, keen gaze. immediately he dropped into a respectful kneel, head touching the floor begging for forgiveness. 

an itch in the back of muzan’s mind was soothed at rui’s motion. yes, rui still understood whom he had to serve till his dying breath. muzan had dismissed rui almost immediately after, choosing instead to focus his vision on you. 

well, at least that was a couple of months ago. rui tried to implement your strategy of treating his “family members” with more respect, but it because clear that rui only really felt home with you. you and rui had become very, very close, and more often than not he could sense rui’s presence close by you in the infinity castle. 

muzan realized he didn’t really have a choice in whom you chose to spend time with after you told him that in order to love you, muzan had to respect you and your decisions. it irked him, but at the same time, he knew that rui would not dare to lay a single finger on you. so he tolerated rui’s presence, allowing you to build a warm friendship amidst the cold infinity castle. whether it was helping rui do his hair or strolling in the garden at night, you too liked spending time with rui.

which is why what muzan was about to do filled him with a dread he had not felt in thousands of years.

you were reading a book suji had gotten you from abroad, sitting calmly in your nightgown on your bed. there wasn’t much to do in the house, to be honest, so escaping was the best way to stimulate your mind. 

after finally having the courage to interact with a multitude of different demons, you had come to realize just how much everyone feared suji. yes, that fear must have been hardwired into them, but still...it made you question suji for some time. you guessed that you would just have to try to be the more rational, kind “leader”. suji really wanted to keep you away from his business, citing how he didn’t want you to worry, but you insisted on at least getting weekly reports to solidify your understanding of suji’s role and just to care for the demons you felt a responsibility for. 

you also just really missed suji. for some reason, he was gone for an abnormally long amount of time, his absence reaching about 2 weeks now. he kept in touch by sending demons to give you his letters, but you too were reaching your breaking point. you wanted him back, and luckily, today was the day suji was supposed to arrive. 

a couple more hours had passed before you received a knock on your door. jumping out of your bed, you allowed your yukata to flow against you, scrambling to open the door. 

the...lady version of suji stood in front of you? you paused comically, trying your hardest to take in the figure that stood in front of you. but you guess it didn’t matter in the end when your arms threw themselves over the woman’s shoulders, pressing her face into the junction between your neck, without your complete approval. 

lady suji’s body had stiffened, but fell considerably as she melted into your embrace, snaking her own flower-embroidered sleeves around your neck. 

“welcome back,” you whispered, bouncing on your toes in excitement. 

but a deep breath escaped suji’s lips, one that immediately let you know that something was wrong. 

she pulled away. the emotions of hesitancy, gentle care, and sadness wove themselves past suji’s normal look of apathy, eyebrows scrunching indescribably. your face fell at the sight, cradling suji’s cheek into your palm. 

“you really can tell me anything, you know,” you murmured. 

suji held herself up at your words, determination mixing in with....pity? you struggled to understand what she was displaying when she announced words that would change the rest of your life: 

“rui has been killed.”
