i like interesting and/or fun platonic dynamics between men and women, but I am acutely aware of when some examples are likely only allowed to be platonic because of other forms of bigotry/bias that are prevalent. sometimes its very obvious that a fictional man and woman dont romantically/sexually like each other because one of them is disabled, because one of them is brown, because one of them is the wrong religion, because one of them is undesirable and cannot be treated like a "regular" (in the context of an amatonormative/allonormative society) man or woman. idk.. some stories leave me skeptical that theyre a demonstration of progressiveness or equality and not an extension of the same systems/ideologies that believe sex/romance is all that matters (which is why Certain Characters are often not allowed to have it with the white "normal" characters). again, not dissing platonic dynamics, i love them, but yknow, theres a lot of ways that ppl enforce romantic/sexual expectations and that can even sometimes be seen in instances where there's supposedly an absence of said expectations.

You guys hear about that 18 month old baby at a zoo that wandered away from their parents (who were on their phones…), entered a restricted zone, stuck their hand into the wolf enclosure and got bit? The parents are being charged with child endangerment but what I want to know is why the fuck does this keep happening? You do not have to take your toddler to the zoo, especially a one and a half year old who is too young to fully appreciate the zoo. You could have stayed at home and scrolled on your phone while ignoring your baby in an environment containing 0 carnivorous apex predators. You would think the zoo would be one place parents feel the need to constantly supervise their kids but no, they’re like “Oh yeah, honey, go ahead and go swimming in the stingray tank, I’m going to play Candy Crush for 45 minutes.”

The trusted source part is important -- make sure you get the contact info off an email/official mail that you are 100% certain is theirs, or off a website that you are 100% certain is theirs!
