“All right, good–”

Craig’s eyes went to the screen, attempting to remember what song they were even playing. As he heard the starting words of the song, though, he recognized it immediately. All right, this shouldn’t be too hard, hopefully. Glancing down briefly to make sure his fingers were all on the correct buttons, he looked up and began to play the game alongside Kyle.

This was… a little awkward, to say the least, considering he and Kyle weren’t exactly friends. 

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Stan still played this in secret. He seemed pretty into it.” The taller of the two attempted, but it was hardly stellar conversation.

     [✔] “ I doubt it. “ Kyle replied, fingers sailing across the buttons in an almost robotic fashion - hard mode was kind of boring after a solid round of experts, but it did free up his brain for conversation. “I think after the whole contract thing he had his dad sell our controllers at Gamestop. Stan never gets into anything twice.”

     That was how it seemed to be, anyway. No harm or foul if he happened to be wrong about it; it’d be nice if Stan and he could play an afternoon’s worth on the weekends, without the pressure of record deals and high scores. 

Part of him did want to. It’d be fun, despite the deep-seeded resentment he held. That didn’t matter right now, and he really may as well let himself have some fun. With a compliant huff, Craig stepped forward and took hold of the second controller.

“Don’t give me shit. I already know I’m not great,” Again, not terrible. He was good in his own right, but he never played for days on end like some of the other boys ended up doing. Looking down at the controller, he guided his fingers to sit atop the buttons, while his other hand gripped the trigger. 

“I kinda feel like a jackass with this thing on at our age,” It didn’t help that Craig was far taller than he had been as a 9 year old, making the controller felt a tad more awkward on his lanky torso.

     Kyle merely gave a small nod of acknowledgement to that last statement, fingers already clicking through song selections for something on the easier side - not because he really thought Craig sucked, but more in the hopes it’d let them be able to talk and play without too much of a lapse in concentration. It was hard enough to get either of them to sit with the other for long periods as it was (mostly Craig’s fault, okay. Not his. Craig was just a dick.). This was... nice. 

“I’m not that fuckin’ bad, dude,” Craig commented from behind him, but made no move to join him. He may not have been horrible at the game, but he wasn’t really up to par with Stan or Kyle. Not that he usually really wanted to play with either of those two, anyway. “Besides, I’m just watching.”

He wanted to urge himself away, and to instead focus on actually playing something, rather than watching someone else. Maybe he should just go home, and see if Clyde or Jimmy wanted to do something. And yet, here he was, watching Kyle play fucking Guitar Hero like they were both 9 again.

“I’m surprised you’re even still good at this game.”

      [✔] “You and me both, to be honest. I haven’t played in- FUCK YEAH!” Kyle’s train of thought was abruptly interrupted by the glowing letters that danced across the screen with the last note strummed; he’d scored a solid PERFECT, with only just a few notes left below their most accurate placement. The score was probably one of his lower ones, but this song in particular had a lower note count than the ones he usually played anyway, so that was to be expected.
